Tritoni Valletta Boutique Hotel

Strange hotel! You are assigned a room and then have to take the elevator to a floor, after which you have to get out and drag your suitcases down half a floor. After you have opened the door, you once again have to drag your luggage down half a floor along a spiral staircase. The room was next to a busy street so you could count all the traffic that passed by. the room was quite small, but clean. I had to take care of the bathroom because the toilet water kept running. Breakfast was very basic. The hotel has a fantastic situation to explore Valletta. There is a small indoor pool in the basement which is unique, but one can smell the chlorine all over the staircase!

We arrived early which was fine, however there was nowhere to leave luggage until our room was ready apart from reception/front desk. Reception is also the dining room where breakfast is served and is very small, glad we didn’t opt for breakfast. The location is perfect for visiting Floriana and Valletta but that’s where it ends. The rooms were comfortable enough, however the folder that was for customer information had nothing in it so when I needed to call down to reception on the first morning due to the hot water running out, I couldn’t as even the phone had no info on how to contact front desk. The guy on reception was aware about the hot water situation and said we had to wait 15 minutes for it, this is something that happens all the time apparently due to the boiler they have! The safe was broken, the kettle was rusty inside, the shower head did not stay in place unless the water was on full blast and we had no hairdryer so again back to reception to get one. They have a hot tub on the roof top but that is chargeable at 10 euros pp, we went up to have a look and it wasn’t worth it. The indoor pool was poor, very small, nowhere to put anything or to get changed apart from a toilet next to the gym so again didn’t bother to use this. It didn’t ruin our stay as the location was perfect for us for and the hotel was just somewhere to rest our heads. Would I stay here again? Probably if it was cheap enough and for a few nights only, if it was for more than a few nights then no.

Stayed here for a few nights for business and I found it to be a bit less than desirable. While the front desk staff was friendly, and the location makes it easy to walk downtown Valletta, that’s about it for me. The bathroom would flood when I showered and there was mold in the bathroom. Couldn’t get any AC so I had to sleep with the window open but wi the no screen so bugs became a problem. If it wasn’t for the walking distance into town I would have rated it lower.

Absolutely awful. Do not stay under any circumstance. Any issues you have will not be taken seriously. The room was dirty, blood stained curtains, safe not working as needed a part, stains on the bathroom floor near the toilet) ( looked like could be urine so unlikely was given a good clean before we were given it. The sheets and duvet cover were old and bobbly , the white towels so old they were grey looking. The manager/owner Pedro was rude, so arrogant and refused to speak to us to address our complaints and we had to go through the reception staff. The dining room though modern was congested, we had to squeeze around tables to get to the food. Tables squashed together seating a maximum of 13 people when there were on our calculation probably 40 rooms in that hotel. Location not bad but that benefit was overshadowed by the poor quality of the room and at 130 Euros per night the location was the only advantage. We checked out after two nights of an 8 night stay as we were so disgusted with the unhygienic conditions. We ended up paying 40 euros a night more to stay at the Cumberland right in the heart of Valetta where the room quality and location was perfect and the staff including the manager couldn’t have been more helpful,

Not bad value overall but there are some basic fixes needed, see below Good location by Valetta gates where there are plenty of eateries and sights. Breakfast ok but room very hot and conjested. Coffee and water machines nice touch. Room was basic but comfortable,though a bit dusty in places. Safes were not working in any room but also weren't secured to anything so could just be carried off anyway. Shower was hot and powerful enough but doors didn't fit and shower head was not very secure. With some easy and inexpensive tweaks this could be so much better. Staff helpful and polite.
