Beautiful space and ascetic and Patrick was very welcoming. It is perfectly located next to the Duomo, but it is also very quiet. We loved it. It is not for everyone but if you like art, architecture, and history this is the place. I could have used a couple more days to enjoy the sitting room, all the art books and learn more about the house from Patrick.

I did not get to stay here because owner recommended I look elsewhere for lodging, after I asked questions about room security. Patrick and I communicated via email about my booking, where I asked about the bad reviews here and elsewhere. Specifically, the lack of locks, furniture being moved in the rooms, and whether other guests would have to go through our booked room on the second floor to get to other parts of the house. About three emails in our exchange. After answering my questions, owner told me he thought I should look elsewhere for accommodation as it was unlikely his house would be a good fit for me. He was polite, but evidently decided I would be too much of a hassle. Here are the answers to my questions, for others' reference 1) locks on the inside of rooms only, so cannot lock when you leave for the day 2) furniture was moved because he was cleaning 3) no answer about whether people have to transit through the junior suite to get to other parts of the house I was looking forward to staying. But not a host or home for people who ask too many questions.
