Fjallabyggd Hotels with Wi-Fi

We stayed in the Herring House for 2 days, having booked before online. Email correspondence was great and on arrival we got a very nice welcome from the owners. A lot of effort has been put into the accommodation. It is modern and well fitted out and there are plenty of tourist brochures provided. Wifi was free and worked well. There are 4 bedrooms and a shared shower/toilet and shared kitchen/dining room facilities. The shower was good (hand held), if a little small. We had a double room with a nice comfortable bed. Siglufjordur is a nice fishing village which has benefited from some recent hotel investment and the well-known Herring museum. There is a campsite in the middle of the village and some nice looking restaurants. We took a drive west along the coast, where there are some great sea views. You can also walk along the avalanche fences on the hill high above the village. Some of the other villages in the area have clearly not benefitted as much from recent investment as Siglufjordur. If you are looking for a place to stay in the north of Iceland, we would definitely recommend Herring House.

Wow…what a fantastic place. We stayed in 8 different hotels during our vacation to Iceland, and this was definitely one of our favorites. The view overlooking the harbor was very nice, and there is a quaint restaurant and bar on site. They also have a large hot tub for the guests to use. Our room was spacious and decorated in a wonderful relaxing style. The front staff were very friendly, and the food served in the restaurant was very good. I highly recommend this hotel, and look forward to returning again.

It's all good, but ... there's one but. Since Guesthouse is not a recipient with staff, then the question is how to get to the building when you arrive late at night or at night? The guesthouse is due to send you all the code instructions to the door the day before the trip. In this case, the letter was not spam or anywhere. So we spent 40 minutes on the wind and rain minus 3 degrees while through support service and at the same time through the Salt Guesthouse page in Instagram did not find the correct owner number because trip.com was the number with the auto reply that we had proposed to call in the morning ...
