Room in B&B - Riad Authentic Palace & Spa - Al Bartal

My husband and I had reservations for a hammam at a hotel in the Medina. We were dropped off at the entrance to the Medina. We were told by the hotel that we would be picked up at the entrance and guided to the hotel. So, we were approached by a man who didn't speak English and he gestured that he was there to guide us. To this dump. When we arrived, we were confused because this WAS NOT the hotel where I booked the hammam. The staff at this place the "Authentic Palace" that it would be worked out. I explained that we had a reservation for a hammam at Hotel Laaroussa. They stalled for 10 mins, then came to us and said we had made a mistake, that there was no way we could get to the right in time as it was 20 mins away, but that they would be happy to provide a hammam. I was very angry because I knew I had been duped but I didn't speak the language and didn't have a map of the Medina. The staff at this hotel knew exactly what they were doing - poaching us. So unethical. They deceived us. I am very sad that I didn't have an opportunity for a hammam at Hotel Laaurussa as I'm sure it's lovely. But steer clear of "Riad Fes Authentic Palace". There is NOTHING AUTHENTIC about it.

We had a lovely stay here with Asmaa making us feel very welcome and tried very hard to accommodate whatever request we had. The other staff were also very helpful. The room was very clean and had the best air conditioning system in all of our stays in Morroco. Breakfast was ok compared to other Riads but I feel this was a bonus anyway when considering the value for money for the stay. We were on the top floor so a few stairs to navigate however staff always offered to help take our luggage up and down. Overall a lovely stay.

We were booked to have Hammam at a really luxurious place in the Fes Medina. Once our driver dropped us off just outside the Medina, a guy told the driver he was the person who was sent from the place to walk us in. He wasn't. The real spa called our driver and asked what had happened because the guy they sent to walk us in to the Hammam couldn't find us. We later found out that what these scanners do is have a guy watching for someone who looks like they're waiting for someone to walk them in to a place in the medina. Then they take you to the Riad. We were treated with tea and cookies at the Riad; they made it seem like a really classy place and wanted to help us. They offered to get us in to their hotel Hammam because they had a guest who might switch times with us because of our predicament, and it was a 20 minute walk to the Hammam we'd booked so we would be very late for our appointment. It was actually a 9 minute walk to the place we'd really booked, not 20 (Thank you Google maps). That made us suspicious that we had been duped but didn't set off enough alarm bells to stop us from accepting their kind offer of a Hammam at their hotel. Their service was cheaper than our original booking at the real place. The Hammam was actually about a 7 out of 10 on the Hammam scale, but we are now quite a bit miffed that we got hosed. Be very cautious of staying at this hotel or booking a Hammam with them. There is a good chance you will be scammed by then in some way.

A gorgeous riad within walking distance of the medina. Beautiful tile work; clean, lovely rooms. Only complaint was breakfast: very disappointing compared to other riads we stayed in. Stayed here with a small tour group.

We did not like this Riad at all. Our bathroom smelled like sewage and was us a huge flight of stairs. It was extremely dark and very unappealing. Our shower head fell off during our first shower and blow dryer broke the first time I used it. The smell of the bathroom still lingers in my nose. My worst experience on a nine day trip.

This is a Beautiful Riad very close to the Medina in Fes. We are a family of 4 and we stayed for 3 nights and were given a complimentary upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite which was luxurious and spacious and decorated beautifully. Asma the lady at reception was very kind and helpful and always did her best to assist. I tried out the Hammam which was very authentique. A traditional Moroccan breakfast was served daily and it was an easy walk to the sites in the medina. The staff were all kind , polite and helpful.
