Townhouse Exeter

A home-from-home for a long-anticipated two night stay. Graciously pared- down with tasteful, interesting decoration and well ordered, modern facilities, the atmosphere, was lacking in clutter and conducive to a peaceful and restful short break. I loved everything about The Townhouse, from the interested & warm welcome I received, to the clean, neat, small double room, with music playing softly as I turned the key in the Yale lock, not to mention that so-comfy bed, and lovely, powerful ensuite shower. The delicious breakfasts, delivered with care and precisely timed, and the daily spruce up of the room, with provision of clean towels were much appreciated. I found the Townhouse to be convenient for St. David's Station, and for the city centre & the Quay area, which are all within walking distance, as are many of Exeter's other attractions. All the best routes were pointed out to me, as I was provided with a street map, this being my first visit to Exeter. The Townhouse was even able to look after my luggage after check-out, so I could collect it later, prior to my afternoon departure. Hopefully, not my last visit to this lovely city, when I'll definitely be staying again at the Townhouse!

Disappointed with the room and facilities. Even for a single room it was tiny. Nowhere to store your bags so you keep falling over them! Impossible to fill the kettle and when you do the cable is stretched to the nearest socket. Can’t think that’s safe! The socket in the writing desk is useless as it’s impossible to plug anything in and the USB ports don’t work. There’s much better value to be had in Exeter!

Beautiful looking house in Exeter ST David’s, a fair walk from the train station and up a hill. We loved the magnificent looking old house. Parts of our room were nice- the amazing mattress gave us such a comfortable sleep. The decor of the room wasn’t to our preference- shiny metal chairs and metal lights to either side of the bed, not in keeping with the tone of the old house. Loved the large diffuse light in the centre of the ceiling. The little shower/toilet room was far too small for the bedroom and obviously a later addition. The sink was in the way of getting easily to the toilet or shower. The owners/staff were amazingly friendly. Because we arrived late we got heaps of repeat messages/emails when just one would have done and it eclipsed the more important info- how to get in! Didn’t like the sound of breakfast, thought too expensive for yoghurt and croissant. It was nice to wake up to church bells ringing from the cemetery next door- the neighbours won’t make much disturbance

We stayed here one night on our way to Cornwall. I cannot fault the accommodation or the welcome given to us by the proprietor. We stayed in the twin room on the ground floor. It was spotlessly clean and very quiet. The breakfast was brought to our room and I can highly recommend the yoghurt topped with fruits and nuts. Delicious.

Though states there's on road parking this is only for two hours with no returns for 4 hours. However staff friendliness and how walkable the area is more than makes up for this.
