A very tired old lady of a grand hotel. Not surprising post Covid and time required for these hotel chains to recover!
I went full board which is defiantly the way to go. Definitely more of a family friendly hotel.
Still in the early days of my trip, I need to figure out how to get around to see the sights - public transport is severely lacking!

Service : staff were helpful and nice, they speak variety of languages, lots of day activities (archery, Pilates, aqua fitness) and 1 hour nightly entertainment, not as many activities for older children Room: what you pay for, has a hairdryer & fridge & tv, you have to pay £4.50 a night for a safe and a £20 deposit but good investment, nice balcony (some balcony’s didn’t lock), beds & sofa comfortable, air conditioning Location: the resort is far from other places with 13 min drive to nearest town (£13 taxi), beach is nice, steep walk down to the beach (not accessible if disability), restaurants and beach clubs 20 minute along the beach, Amenities: 2 large pools both salt water, 1 baby pool, salt water not heated pools, still very nice, wake up early for sun loungers as not many, tennis court (must pay for racket and balls), netball court, kids area. Separate shop within the resort that has food, souvenirs you must pay for, doctors office, other paid for amenities Food and drink: drinks are very nice however watered down, alcohol available from 10.30am to 1am, only 1 beer option, breakfast: lots of Pastry limited meat, lunch and dinner variety of option however repetitive with same things most nights, allergies displayed with a few alternatives, snack bar: only pastry (croissant) not crisps etc, and never fully stocked if have allergic recommend to bring snacks with you Check in and check out: check in 2pm if you arrive before hand can leave suitcase in reception and give you a wristband to access food and drink, check out 11am and allow you to keep wristband, Wi-Fi: only worked on balcony for our room and in reception and at food court, apart from that limited A lot of past reviews about robberies but don’t know of any that happened in our stay, however there are very few security cameras so recommend locks for suitcases and bags also yet again recommended safe

First of all, do NOT listen to all the reviews and let it get to you, I spent too long getting stressed about our room being ‘robbed’ and it never happened, just buy the safe for £4.50 a night. Most of the staff speak English and do listen to your needs, especially chef Miguel who will cook gluten free food on request. The room you get what you pay for, air con worked fine whilst weak. Yes, we found a cockroach on the floor one day, just put it in a glass and throw it out, some people need to grow up. Also, what do people want the staff to do about mosquitoes, just bring some bug spray and I’ve not been bit once during my stay. The beach itself is beautiful, torqoise sea and lovely sand. However, the stairs down are very steep and quite dangerous, not suitable for people with physical difficulties. Walking along the beach there are a few nice bars to the right, I suggest going to one for a drink and some food. The restaurant is about what you’d expect of an all inclusive, however food became repetitive with beef stew 3 days in a row, deserts the same too. It wasn’t bad by any means and a few gluten free options, just repetitive. However, the ‘snack bar’ is almost never stocked, and selection is quite poor. Soft drinks and hot drinks are always available, along with the bar where service is great. We did notice the drinks were watered down, but what do you expect at an all inclusive it happens everywhere. The hotel is a bit out of the way to the major places such as a the water park and a taxi will be expensive, but a €12 taxi to the local Morro jable was nice for a day with lots of shops and restaurants on the beach front. One negative is the pools are saltwater, meaning any in your mouth and it isn’t pleasant. The animation team were great with the children, however the activities are the same and late night entertainment was quite poor, apart from the circus night which was a nice change and a good performance. Bring some earplugs and a sleep mask for bed, as some people get a bit rowdy singing late into the night, but to be expected after a long day drinking. Overall, it’s probably a 3 star hotel, but you get what you pay for, and some people just need to get a grip, or get over their fear of bugs. Okay there’s some marks on the walls and some need for renovation, but it was a perfectly fine stay and we enjoyed it.

**Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend** Our recent stay at this hotel was far from enjoyable. The property itself is old, dirty, and in dire need of renovation. From broken fixtures to worn-out furniture, the rooms and common areas gave off a neglected and uninviting feel. The hotel’s location is another major drawback. While technically near a beach, the access is via dangerously steep and slippery stairs, and once you’re there, don’t expect much — no sunbeds, umbrellas, or facilities of any kind. The hotel sits in the middle of a volcanic landscape with very little to do in the surrounding area. Any worthwhile excursions or activities are mostly up north, requiring long and often inconvenient travel. One of the most disappointing aspects was the animation program, which was poorly organised and practically non-existent. If you’re looking for entertainment, look elsewhere. The food was just okay — not terrible, but very bland and repetitive. Vegetarian options were extremely limited, and the overall dining experience was underwhelming. Some of the staff were courteous, but unfortunately, several were quite rude and unhelpful. A false fire alarm went off during our stay, and shockingly, no staff members made any effort to inform or reassure guests. We were left confused and concerned with zero communication. The gym was barely usable, and the jacuzzi and swimming pools were dirty. Hygiene seemed to be a low priority, with many guests jumping straight into the pool after the beach without showering. Overall, this hotel fell short in nearly every category. With poor facilities, rude staff, limited activities, and a less-than-ideal location, I would not recommend staying here. There are far better options available for the same price — do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Sadly all the negative reviews are true and unfortunately for us travelling as a grandmother, daughter and grandaughter we experienced every single one of the bad points raised!! Check in was absolutely horrific!! Unhelpful non caring staff, invisible Manager, dirty areas everywhere, unlit very dangerous steps, extreme distanced rooms, fighting in public areas - grandaughter was petrified, unsafe non fitting doors - had to fill the gap with a towel, canteen (cannot even call it a restaurant) dirty with glass on floor on 3 occasions and food from the night before on floors, I could go on and on but there really is no point as it is obvious that the SBH hotel chain really does not care or something would have been done a long while ago based on previous reviews!! AVOID THIS HOTEL is my only real tip if you want a nice holiday! I have NEVER EVER felt the need to leave a negative review about any hotels I have ever stayed in but sadly feel this is absolutely necessary.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my recent stay at SBH Club Paraíso Playa, booked through Love Holidays, as the experience was extremely disappointing and far below what was advertised. • The hotel's hygiene standards were unacceptable. We found dirty plates and glasses in the dining area, often having to clean them ourselves to eat. Tables were not cleared, and leftover food from previous guests was left when we arrived to eat. Breakfast was consistently lacking, with coffee and juices frequently unavailable and of very poor quality when provided. * The public bathrooms had no soap for handwashing, the hand dryers did not work, and many doors either had no locks or did not close properly. * The room was infested with cockroaches and other insects, including cockroaches found in our bed. The wardrobe door was broken and nearly fell, requiring staff to remove it for safety. The furniture was damaged and infested with bugs. * The elevators frequentlv broke down, causing delays and discomfort. * The drinks provided were of extremely poor quality, and there was no entertainment by the pool as advertised. The evening entertainment was disorganized and disappointing. Another fact about the drinks is they were extremely strong and unpleasant, this was to the point that my wife who had recently had a stomach bypass surgery done was not able to drink anything, even if non-alcoholic, because even the orange/apple juice was very acidic and tasted sickening, I had to constantly buy drinks for my wife outside of the hotel such as juice and water because the hotel did not even provide water to the guests unless you bought them at the vending machines, where they were sold for unreasonable prices. * When we raised these serious concerns with the hotel manager, they were dismissive and unfriendly, offering no help or solution, the lady at the reception said to us “What do you want me to do about it? We have no one here at these hours to fix your hotel rooms” when all we wanted was clean and safe rooms to sleep in which were not offered to us as a replacement for the horrible rooms we were put in, filled with bugs, completely infested and with broken landline phones. * When we had first arrived at the hotel and my daughter went to her room her landline phone was completely broken and shattered in pieces, with sharp plastic all around the bedside table, when we looked at the furniture in my room there was tiny bugs all around the wood and dead cockroaches not only outside of our bedroom on the corridors but also inside such as inside of the toilet and alive cockroaches on the walls. My wife had a medicine box with vitamin gummy’s that she was taking due to her surgery and the morning after we arrived they were all infested with small bugs, my wife and daughter have a phobia of cockroaches and they could not sleep properly all week. * This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had and completely ruined our holiday. It did not match the advert

Was very letdown overall starting with a description of the location not close to local amenities the assistance of a hotel run minibus into the local town south approximate ten minutes to fifteen minutes drive for an hour and a half walk, the alcohol was watered down and the glasses had a bad odour about them The stuff I witnessed in the evenings had poor hygiene what looked to be dirty shirts and all round attire and one male in particular made an appropriate gestures to young females / guests The food itself is okay if your life routine depends on chips burgers and from the buffet itself cater from mainly German Hungarian guests anything water based personally gave me a rather upset tummy thus enabling me not to go anywhere too far away from the hotel hindsight is a wonderful thing as if I knew before Booking with what I know now I would not have stayed at this resort
