Hotel Sonnwendhof Engelberg

Sonnwendhof is a great place for family visit to Engelberg in summer or winter. It has everything you may possibly need: hearty breakfast (many local products - cheese, jam, honey, bread, juice, etc.), indoor playroom for small children, ski room (if you come for winter holidays), sauna (ready in 15 minutes) and relaxing room, supermarket is 8 min walking distance away, some good restaurants are just around the corner. Titlis funicular is 8 min away by foot, Brunnibahn is 1.5km away and Fürenalp is 5 km. You get Engelberg tourist card, which allows you to use a bus for free and get small discount on funiculars. All ladies working at the hotel are very friendly. We could have had an earlier check in, if we needed it. Free parking is just in front of the hotel.

This is one of the most friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in. Every member of the reception staff was pleasant, extremely knowledgable about the area and helpful. It’s in an ideal location 2 minutes from the train station and convenient for the Titlis lift station. Our room had a nice balcony with great views. The room was clean and had a welcome bottle of water too. The breakfast was extensive with homemade Bircher muesli and bread made by the local monastery. It was also expertly supervised by the very efficient Conny and her team. We took dinner at their sister hotel St Josefhaus 10 minutes walk away, which was great value and excellent food. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

The best located hotel: it is super close the gondolas to go to titlis. Rooms are clean and the setup for us and our two kids in a single room was perfect. I really loved the hotel team - the had plenty of small attentions to make our stay more enjoyable. The breakfast featured local high quality products from the family of the owners. The sauna was always empty and larger than expected - a perfect way to end a day after the skiing!

We stayed 3 days at Hotel Sonnwendhof and I can definitely recommend it as for a short stay and for a long vacation. The hotel is very well maintained! The people, who work there really care about their customers making them comfortable as home. The room we had was spacious, with a balcony and comfy bed. The hotel has an inside children entertaining room. Breakfast is excellent and oriented for kids as well. It offers many local goods. The restaurant offers a 3 course dinner at St. Josefshaus hotel, which was pretty decent and not expensive. There are a lot of hiking trails around Engelberg including Titlis - 3000 meters above sea level. You can find easy routes with kids and a lot of options for experienced hikers. Coop supermarket is a in a walking distance as well as Engelberg's public pool. And the hotel has its own sauna! We would definitely get back to the hotel another time!

We have visited this hotel many times and this is the first time back since COVID. The hotel is beautifully situated in the Lucerne area and Engleberg is a great place to unwind and be truly 'in the mountains'. This are has so much to offer and has plenty to do all year round. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming the rooms are very comfortable and clean. We hope to be back next year!

I've stayed in many hotels in Europe and the Sonnwendhof in Engelberg is definitely one of the best, and possibly the best! The hotel is very close to the gondola and the hotel is clean and nice, has nice rooms, bathrooms, and showers. But the best part is the staff! Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful! They go above and beyond to accommodate you and any special requests you have. We were a group of 28 and some had dietary restrictions, which the hotel was very accommodating! And Silvia was phenomenal! She was always helpful, smiling, and friendly! Multiple people in our part commented on how great she is! I highly recommend this hotel if going to Engelberg!
