Zzyc81993339Emeishan Hongzhushan Hotel is located at the foot of Mount Emei, a world natural and cultural heritage, less than 200 meters away from the famous temple ”Baoguo Temple”. Its predecessor was the Emeishan official residence built by the National Government for Chiang Kai-shek in 1935, where he lived during his tenure as the ”Officer Training Corps”.
The hotel's architectural style combines Chinese and Western styles, and follows the ”dragon and tiger leap” feng shui layout according to the mountain terrain, with the back of the mountain and the water in front, and the dispersed correspondence; taking advantage of the mountain, a unique downward extension structure is formed, and you can appreciate the unparalleled natural environment in the hotel without leaving your home. Looking down at the entire hotel, 9 villa-style floors are hidden on the side of the peaks, in the valleys, and in the corners of the lakes, and there are also pavilions, waterside pavilions, bridges and guest-only walking trails connecting them.
The hotel has 440,000 square meters of virgin forest, 100,000 square meters of natural lakes, radon hot springs with a mineralization age of 20 million years and a 5,000-meter hiking trail. The air negative oxygen ion monitoring value is 3,000 times the urban average. It is a well-deserved ”garden hotel, forest hotel”. In Sichuan Province, it is the only two state guesthouses that are on par with Chengdu Jinniu Hotel.
After the founding of New China, Hongzhushan Hotel is full of red genes and has repeatedly undertaken the reception and support tasks of party and state leaders. Building 3 is affectionately called the ”Marshal Building” and has successively received many founding marshals such as Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, and Chen Yi; and Building 2 ”Xiaoping Building” was stayed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping twice in 1965 and 1980. Building 1 provided life support services for Chairman Mao Zedong in 2010.
The Zen Mountain Residence in Building 7 where we stayed fully embodies the ”people-oriented” service concept: the service staff are humble and polite. The men are handsome and the ladies are pretty. The guest rooms are spacious, elegant and comfortable. The whole room is fully lit, with floor-to-ceiling windows, separating wet and dry areas, and separating movement and stillness. The balcony goes deep into the forest, forming the ultimate of borrowing scenery into the room, the room is in the scenery, the scenery follows the people, and the people are in the painting. Mr. Jin Yong praised it as: every window is a landscape painting. The hot spring is brought into the room, so that every guest can enjoy the best ”radon” hot springs in Mount Emei without leaving the house. The breakfast dishes are rich, combining Chinese and Western styles, and are carefully made. There are also local snacks and intangible cultural heritage of Mount Emei, such as Kabing, tofu brain, Bobo chicken, tangerine peel beef, etc., which are enough to satisfy the appetite of every diner.
In the morning and evening, you can see the lake and mountains when you walk in it. Birds and flowers are singing all the way, and the jungle is singing softly. Breathe the fresh air full of hydrogen ions, feel the moisture of the lake and the caress of the forest wind. “I am swimming in the painting, the painting is walking in the scenery, the scenery has entered my eyes, and I am also in the painting.” At that moment, nature and man are one, and I forget myself and the world.

LLanJiangWe initially chose Pure Cloud Hotel for its proximity to Wuxiangang Bus Station and its recent opening. The drive up the narrow mountain road, full of sharp turns, was a bit unsettling for our city Didi driver, so we were secretly relieved (as was our driver) when we finally arrived. At first glance, the hotel seemed quite simple, and I wasn’t entirely sure I had made the right choice. However, any lingering doubts were quickly washed away by the warm welcome from Derek, the hotel manager, and the staff.
When we got to our room, it was pure joy! The minimalist design is visually soothing, and the balcony with its expansive mountain views made us feel like just hanging around and doing nothing was more than enough.
If you're the kind of traveler who feels guilty about not doing anything, rest assured that the hotel is in a beautiful section of the mountain. There's a lovely old temple and a sacred spring pond nearby—Zhongfeng Temple and Shenshui Pavilion, I believe. You’ll also enjoy the energy of hikers rushing up and down the mountain. There are enough people to make it lively but not overwhelmingly crowded like Leidongping or Jinding, where the crowds can be exhausting.
A special mention goes to Derek, who exceeded all our expectations. His kindness and professionalism reminded me of the kind of service you expect from a six-star hotel, where every need is anticipated. Derek went above and beyond, making our journey to Golden Summit and onward to Leshan much smoother and more enjoyable. Since we speak minimal Chinese, he kindly helped us communicate with the next hotel, explaining how to get there. He even offered us a free ride to the bus station when we struggled to find a Didi in the area. Derek also helped arrange our transfer to Leshan. We were incredibly impressed and grateful for his assistance.
If I had to suggest one area for improvement, I’d say the dinner options could use some enhancement to match the overall excellence of the stay.
A small tip: If your goal is to catch the sunrise and sunset at Golden Summit, you'll need to stay at one of the mountaintop hotels near Jinding. Logistically, getting to these hotels involves taking a bus from Baoguosi or Wuxiangang Station to Leidongping, then a cable car to the upper platform, followed by a roughly one-hour hike with steep steps to Jinding. It's manageable with a backpack, but not ideal with large luggage. That’s why we chose Pure Cloud Hotel for its close proximity to Wuxiangang Bus Station, leaving our luggage there and heading up the mountain with just our backpacks.

PPurelandThere is room for improvements for pre-arrival communications with guests in English. The cake i received for my birthday is not nice, i would prefer to have a slice of good quality cake than a small cake which taste poor. Breakfast has met my expectations, wide in variety and good in taste, i especially liked the black stir fry noodles with vegetables. Egg station chef skills has to improve though - i didn’t like the taste of my customised scrambled eggs.
Love the variety of drinks selections - especially the grape juice!
Housekeeping forgot to put bath salts and one time use bathtub cover in our room.

BBernicetjmXiao Zhou and his colleagues provided us with exceptional service during our one-night stay at the hotel! They were very nice and friendly, attentive to our needs and requests, and chatted with us in an open and welcoming manner whenever we inquired about aspects of the local environment, Mt Emei, etc. We had dinner at the hotel during our stay and ordered the chef's recommendations. The food was AMAZING and so fresh. The fish and chicken dishes that we had came from live fish and chicken that they reared within the hotel compound. If they were a local restaurant back in my country, I would frequent them without a doubt, and would love to bring my friends to try their cuisine. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating, Xiao Zhou even brought us to take a look at the hotel's chicken coop and fish pond. When we had to leave for our hike to Mt Emei's summit, Xiao Zhou and his colleague kindly drove us to the nearest bus station so that it would be easier for us to access Mt Emei's public transportation, a gesture which we appreciated a lot! All in all, their attentiveness to us, good manners, and warm and friendly dispositions all contributed to a memorable stay. Of course, the rooms themselves were spotless and comfortable. Would love to come back here in the future!!

The hotel has a pick-up service, so you don't have to worry about it. The hot spring is indoors, so you don't have to worry about the children catching a cold. It's good. The dolls are very happy. The room is large, spacious and clean, with a modern and simple style, which is what I like. The hotel has a normal temperature swimming pool and a hot spring pool, which the children also like! CChin P.Many thanks and praises to Ms. Fanny, the front desk lady who checked us in. She followed all the standardized procedure and dialogue, showing that she was properly trained and was very mindful of her tasks. Despite not speaking much English, she was very helpful and informative as she went so far as to use an electronic translator from her phone to describe everything in details for me and answer all of my questions. Above all, her manner and facial expression were very well trained as she never once showed a sign of frustration when I asked her many questions and she smiled all the time, a phenomenon that I hardly experience or see in China (as most local staff usually have cold or indifferent facial expressions and do not seem to be too active in receiving guests). The hotel itself is decent enough, with a few warm pools as the highlight that let us wind down after a tiring day. Breakfast was abundant and delicious at this price range. I would stay here again if I returned to Emeishan.

Andy was a very hospitable host, who gave us the maps and tips necessary for our hikes. He can help us in getting reservations done at the monastery as required. The room we stayed was spacious, clean and had the amenities mentioned in Trip.com. They also serve food downstairs and the food is good and not expensive.

GGine HuiA small boutique hotel located next to the cable car station at the mountain top, next to the path where hikers and tourists will past by. It was therefore a bit noisy. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes to walk up to the Jinding temple.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean with basic amenities. It is a bit pricey for the room, I supposed it's advantage is the close proximity to Jinding. Breakfast (porridge, pickles, vegetables and buns) was provided free, simple but nice. Had dinner at their restaurant, the food was tasty, better than many restaurants around the foot of Emeishan that we have tried.

However, the facilities are really not that good. It is too old. The mattress is an old Simmons and the hair dryer is also very old. The room is very small, the window is next to the corridor, and the outside sound can be heard clearly.
