I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of November not realising that this was the last week the hotel would be open before closing for the winter and, unfortunately, this had an impact on our stay. It is in a lovely and quiet location with lots of bird-watching walks across the marshes. There are a few shops nearby but most were closed. However, we were able to get the bus into Huelva a couple of times which was well worth a visit. There is no beach nearby and the ferry to take you across to where there is a beach was no longer running. Our room was excellent with an enormous bed, comfortable furnishings and an over the bath shower. The hotel grounds were well looked after. The spa was excellent with a pool with lots of jets, jacuzzi, sauna, foot massage and everything was immaculately clean but I’m really not keen on unisex changing rooms! Breakfast was a bit disappointing with tinned fruit and eggs which were not cooked to order. A pile of pre-cooked omelettes next to a tray of cooling fried eggs did not look appetising. Lunch and dinner were better with a range of cooked food and, best of all, an amazing range of salads. The staff were all friendly and helpful but we did have the impression that things were winding down. It’s a lovely hotel with lots to recommend it. We just chose the wrong time of year.

I went solo with Saga. I had arranged to meet up with two friends met on previous holidays but living far apart. The hotel looks great from photos but in reality it’s very awkward to get around. You have to take one lift to floor 5, walk a long corridor to another lift to floor 4 to go to meals. The food is the worst I’ve ever had in a hotel, the ‘egg chef’ at breakfast pre-cooks omelettes, fried eggs and boiled eggs and they’re left piled up to get rubbery! There was not one dish I could recommend, the only tasty thing was the plain yogurt with raisins & cereal toppings. My bathroom had black mould all around the bath and shower. The Saga rep said they have to clean it or move you, neither happened. I was there a week and very happy to leave. I met my friends, so that was nice and we ate out which was a solution to the awful food provided.
Response from Property: Dear Mr. Guest I would like to thank you for sharing your impressions about your last stay at our hotel. We are sorry that our buffet was not to your complete satisfaction. We take note of your comments to continue working and achieve excellence. Sincerely, Teresa Delgado. Customer service department.

This was my fourth visit to this hotel and sadly the hotel has changed. Our room was in need of renovation - our bath had a black patch where the enamel had fallen off, net curtains were brown, room overall was dingey. The restaurant staff and general staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is wonderful. The food used to be wonderful but the quality has dropped considerably. I even had to remove fresh fruit on several occasions from the display as it was mouldy and not fit for consumption . It’s sad as I’ve lived going to this hotel but I think cost cutting policies have now negatively impacted it. I shan’t be going again.
Response from Property: Dear Patricia B, Thank you so much for the time you took in reviewing your stay with us. We are very sad to read that you left with such a disappointment. We are in constant renovation of rooms in order to improve our facilities. We will pass on your comment to the kitchen department as we consider each review very important to us. We hope to welcome you again in the near future. Best regards, Mónica Rivas, Customer Service

I stayed in this hotel before but I don't think I come back again. A four star hotel without a kettle in your room, I asked for one at the reception desk and they told me I had to pay 10 euros during my stay,. At the restaurant, breakfast without berries, no variety of food, same food for every meal, they only change some hot dishes. The hotel needs a renovation painting is a need, and showers instead of bath tubs, there were so many old people in tourist groups, it would be easier for them to have a shower. The surroundings are beautiful. A pity they don't invest enough money to improve and update it, I'm afraid this hotel cannot be considered a four stars hotel anymore.
Response from Property: Dear Customer, This is a four-star hotel because it is under the hospitality regulatory legislation, this hotel contains everything that a 4-star hotel should have, that is: A wide range of facilities, superior quality design and excellent service, this hotel offers a luxury experience to its guests. Regarding teapots or kettles, the supplement of €10 is only paid once and it applies for the whole stay. I am sorry that your stay here was not good, despite everything the hotel offers. All the best, Raquel, customer service area

Just had a great week at Hotel playagarden El Rompido Beautiful hotel with great staff, had read previous review that knocked the staff but I couldn’t fault them, always happy to help especially pool bar staff. Yes, English isn’t widely spoken but it’s Spain?? If you want a full English service of pubs, Irish bars and English style food try Benidorm! If you want a great relaxing stay with great beaches, seafood restaurants, in what I would call proper Spain then this is the place to stay and visit.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience at Hotel Fuerte El Rompido! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the dedication of our team, particularly the pool bar staff. Your kind words are truly encouraging, and we'll make sure to pass on your compliments to the team. We’re glad you embraced the local culture and charm that El Rompido has to offer. It’s fantastic to know that you found our location perfect for a relaxing stay, with its beautiful beaches and authentic seafood restaurants. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the near future! Warm regards, Isabel Santana Liroa Customer Service Department

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable week at the end of May 24. We were on a Saga all inclusive holiday. The hotel is on a spacious site with well tended gardens, all areas of the hotel being kept extremely clean. Our room was spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. Sunbeds were always available during our stay. Staff were all friendly helpful and efficient. Despite other reviewers concerns we found the food in the restaurant excellent with always a lot of choices and well presented. Food was on self serve buffet basis, in the restaurant, drinks were brought to your table but the service was fast friendly & efficient. A very quiet adults only pool was very relaxing. Next to the small village/town of El Rompido and a short walk to the ferry for the unspoilt beach. This is a hotel to go and have a very relaxing time, not a place for discos and nightlife. Would definitely go back. I suspect the hotel get quite busy during the peak summer periods but late May, early June it was very pleasant.
Response from Property: Thank you very much for your nice score! Best regards, Monica Rivas, Customer service department.

This place is amazing, has everything from lovely walks, cafes and trips. We stayed as part of saga all inclusive and the value is amazing. I can honestly say that the staff here are the most hard working, polite and efficient than anywhere I have stayed, they are a credit to the hotel. From the housekeeping to the restaurant and bar staff, they are all brilliant. The hotel is in a quiet area but there are so many lovely walks, restaurants, shops and trips it just seems to have everything you could need. The rooms are generous with great beds and balconies, very clean and close to beaches, cafes and shops. The food is fresh and although not an extensive menu there is enough variation and most of my fellow travellers agreed on the quality of what was on offer. We will definately be back!
Response from Property: Dear Lindy, We greatly appreciate your stay with us and your time in detailing your experience with us. We are delighted to hear that your experience was satisfactory and that both our facilities and your room were to your liking. Thank you for mentioning the professionalism and friendliness of our staff and the quality of our restaurant, we work every day to offer a great experience to all our customers. Your opinion is very important to us as it motivates us to continue working with a big smile. It would be a pleasure to welcome you again. Best regards. Jéssica Marín Fernández, Customer Service.

This lovely hotel is a must for nature lovers, particularly bird watchers. It is a well run hotel, with a lovely outlook. Everything is very well maintained and the dining experience is unhurried, staff are extremely quick to serve drinks and the food is of a good quality. The area is very quiet so this hotel is not for you if you want to go clubbing, but if you want to take leisurely walks along th beach or through the countryside and recharge your batteries then this is a winner. A short ferry ride over to the beach is a must as the beach is superbly quiet and just stunning. My second visit here, and I will return again
Response from Property: Dear Sarah, Thank you very much for your kind words describing your stay at Hotel Fuerte Rompido and for taking the time to share them on Tripadvisor. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay with us and our little paradise. As you rightly say, for lovers of nature, relaxation and gastronomy, it is a visit that will not leave anyone indifferent. Your opinion is very important to us and motivates us to continue working every day to offer a great experience to all who visit us. We hope you visit us again soon, Best regards, Jéssica Marín Fernández, Customer Service.

I'm sorry to do this but this is my 3rd visit to this hotel and although it is good value I am left disappointed that the meals are all served indoors in a plastic conservatory. When asked if they would open up to eat alfresco we are given many excuses. Also I emailed the hotel before I arrived to check that the a la carte restaurant dos faros would be open during our 3 week stay. On arrival it was clear that was untrue. Now we have been to this hotel 3 times September May and April and it has never been open. I checked as this was our 50th wedding anniversary and we wanted to eat at a nice restaurant but sadly that won't happen. So much so that I am returning home half way through vacation. Obviously we won't return as we looked at the advert for the dos faros restaurant checked beforehand but we're told something that was untrue.

Enormous hotel for groups or families. We arrived for an overnight stay and a hotel less than half full,,but were placed at the very end and a long walk to the room when a nice room would have been available much closer to the reception. The underground garage was not clearly indicated at entrance so we had to park in an area 4 minutes walk from reception. Breakfast was the worst possible, b very little fresh produce, bacon so fat and uncooked I wouldn’t feed it to animals, in general, this was not a nice experience.
Response from Property: Dear Christopher, First of all, thank you very much for your stay in our hotel. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Do not hesitate next time to let us know at the moment so that we can help you. Monica Rivas, Customer service department.
