Came here for a family meal food was very good with lots of choices plus good vegetarian options. Staff very attentive and gave a good service. The only let down and a big one was the table we were given. We made this booking at least three weeks beforehand. When we arrived for our booking for 12 they sat us at a L shaped table so we felt like two different groups instead of a family dinner to celebrate a 80th birthday and a 60th wedding anniversary. If you don’t have the space to sit large groups it would be better to just say so.

Popped in for lunch with family. Food was fine, typical tasty pub grub, but we waited 40minutes for it to arrive and having finished, sat with dirty plates for 20 minutes, giving up on dessert and coffee and just got the bill. Plates were still there when we left. Staff were pleasant but I guess they just needed more of them or maybe more training. Shame, but we won’t be going back.

Popped in last night for a drink after a long drive up from the south and noticed the car park very busy. Staff were excellent, friendly and attentive (but not overly). After a long day site seeing in Durham today on our return to our campsite, again car park busy (a great sign for any establishment considering its mid week). So.. we decided to take in a meal. Staff, again, superb, meal, excellent and atmosphere brilliant. I asked the Head Waiter to pass on our sincere thanks to both Front and back of house Staff, I Hooe he did. Paid our very reasonable bill and left to get this highly recommended note written.

Lovely hotel perfect for getting the park & ride into the City. Checked in with no problems by Charlotte who was lovely & really friendly, stayed the one night & ate at the hotel which was excellent as was breakfast. Charlotte & Hannah are a real credit to this business.

Excellent, booked for one night, and had dinner. Great steak and kidney pudding and salmon and prawns in puff pastry. Was around 35 GBP, Staff absolutely fantastic nothing too difficult. Outside of Durham about 4 miles, beautiful views and several rooms to choose from for dining. Breakfast included, starting with choices for cereal and juice. Cooked breakfast also included with several choices.

One of the best pub/hotels I have stayed in. The staff were all great fun and ultra efficient. The food choice was varied and delicious , so good we ate both nights of our stay. I would stay here again if in the area. Breakfast was included in the room price with option of cooked or continental or both if you had room. The full English was huge enough to set you up for the day. Easy access to the A1 and the park and ride for Durham city centre. A great stay.

We stayed here for two nights and had breakfast and evening meal. On arrival the staff were very welcoming and showed us to our room. We decided to have evening meal in the restaurant and it was really nice food and the restaurant itself is very nice, so much so that we decided to book for the following night too. The rooms are spotless and of a high standard. We had the cooked breakfast in the morning and this was to the same high standard as the evening meal the day before. Needless to say the evening meal and breakfast the next day was every bit as good as the first. We hope to be back one day and can’t hesitate to recommend either the accommodation or the food in the restaurant. Well done all those that work there.

The place was fantastic from start to finish. The food was great staff were fantastic nothing was to much trouble. From cleaning staff to manger. Specially Amy she was brilliant definitely say again. You must try. Best breakfast I have had.

We are both in our 70's and we think this is some of the best fish and chips we have ever had, the ale batter was crispy all the way round, the cod was lilly white and succulent, we will definitely be going back again, the staff were very polite and friendly, thank you. 10 out 10
