Very good hotel, very good location, very close to the city, to eat, stroll, can be done with two feet. There are also many Chinese food restaurants nearby, that is, it is a pity that the store is closed too early.

Room is very clean and very well presented. Bed is very soft and comfortable. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The location is perfect, walking distance to the city. The only downside is the parking as you need to book a head of time due to limited space but it would be more convenient to all having its parking available. Otherwise our stay was absolutely 👍🏻 .😊

After reading many reviews on this site and looking for somewhere with two bedrooms we booked here. We knew there was an older part and a renovated part so we paid a little more for the newer two bedroom room. We got free parking as we booked directly with the hotel and had breakfast there in the morning. The room was excellent - all new and had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We went for a walk to the railway station and then to the Octogon all very close. The staff then helped us with a taxi to dinner. My nephew was unwell during the night and the staff left us say in the room a little while longer while he slept longer. They were very understanding and a great help. The only negative was the breakfast was a little dry as I think it had been sitting in the buffet for a while. It still tasted good and did the job of filling us up. We would stay and book this room again.

Stayed here for 3 nights, first time here and I was suitably impressed. After having stayed at Beechwood, Distinction, Quest and many of the hotels in Dunedin I thought this one didn’t deserve to be overlooked - and I’m really glad I chose it. From the friendly ‘reception’ staff (a pleasantly untypical reception btw), the wonderful cafe staff and food where I dined twice to the beautiful design and layout of the hotel My room was amazing… spacious, modern, reasonably quiet and everything I needed was there (apart from a microwave but I can live without that). Once I figured out how to work the TV I was all set, I really wish more hotels allowed you to watch Netflix, YouTube etc on the TV! Even the coffee station was unique. I can’t wait to return next year, thank you!
Distinction Dunedin Hotel

This hotel is very self effacing. It says it is a 4 star but in fact it is better than that! Upon arrival we were welcomed and were lucky enough to be given an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. The room was absolutely spotless and the the servicing of the room was faultless! The bar is pleasant and service second to none! The restaurant was special. The food was at a very high standard as was the service! We loved this hotel and will stay there whenever we are in Dunedin
Scenic Hotel Southern Cross

The room was very nice. Exceptionally clean. King size bed was two King singles with the hump in the middle. Linen and towels were well laundered. BUT... toilet was awkward to sit on, ammenities were never restocked on a 3 night stay, cringe worthy supply of coffee in the room, mini-fridge and snacks are ridiculously expensive but there is a 24/7 shop nearby for one third the price. Parking is awkward and an extra unexpected expense. Room service breakfast is the absolute worst. I mean 1 star and inedible. No cutlery, food served cold, no salt or pepper, one serviette, mixture of food over cooked (poached eggs) and undercooked (bacon) and wet (English Muffins). Orange juice is a fruit mix of apple and mango served warm. Flat wife coffee is served in a takeaway cup and sub-standard but hot with no sugar. The cleanliness of the room is amazing but they fail to restock simple things like milk, toilet paper and soap. A potential 4 star hotel which struggles to reach 3 stars. It has massively slipped in recent years. There is no way to adjust room temperature but it was okay. The distant hum of hotel machinery is hard to get to sleep and sleeping past 7am is impossible due to paper thin walls.
