We arrived 6:45 pm to find lights out and nobody home. Entry is by key box, there's no one on sight in the evening or overnight. There is no common area. The new owners have converted all common areas to rooms, so you live in your room the whole stay. There is no longer a restaurant either. Some of the rooms enter from the car park like a motel. It has been chopped up to maximise profits, losing all its charm. Very disappointing after having booked an "arts and crafts" guesthouse.

Not my cup of tea at all. Dark and dismal, small room with the worst bed ever it was high and very uncomfortable. Squeaky floors Shower was small. The breakfast was ok. It in a quiet location 15/ 20 minutes to walk into town. Our 2 night stay turned into a one night stay, we left straight after breakfast.

A lovely Arts and Crafts house (by a student of Rennie Macintosh) which has many nice features. It does not run a reception so make sure you ring the number on the door to get the code to access the key safe which holds your room key. The staff, when present, are lovely and the breakfast is cooked by a chef who knows how to make a great breakfast. Rooms are clean and showers work well but the building could use a bit of TLC. Parking is good although its location is a fair walk into the town centre. Shame that some sort of domestic fight on our first night resulted in the police being called and we did not sleep too well as a result. Pleased that the rest of our 4 night stay was undisturbed. For an excellent meal in a smart restaurant we'd recommend the 20 minute walk to Casa Mia. The road outside is very busy at peak hours but not noisy at night.

We have just enjoyed an overnight stay at Riverdell B&B. Check in was easy with ringing the number on the front door, to be guided through using the keysafe and self checking into our room. Comfortable and clean room, very powerful and hot shower and good amenities in the room. Breakfast this morning was very fresh and tasty, not greasy at all. It was super filling to set us up for a day exploring then traveling home. We would definitely stay again as it's great value to include breakfast too. A perfect treat to a week of Scottish camping.

Nice interior, great breakfast and friendly breakfast service. However, the exterior is falling into disrepair with pealing paint, lots of spider webs and many windows that don’t open. Also, the bed and pillows were hard. But the reason I gave it a 2 was the check-in was terrible. The house was locked and darn when we arrived at 4:30 in the afternoon. There was a note on the door saying they’d stepped away and a number to call. We walked for dinner and came back to find it the same. When called the number and got someone’s personal voice message with no mention of Rivendell. Fortunately, we left a message and as we were sitting in the parking lot trying to find another place to stay, someone called us back with instructions for the lock box.

We enjoyed a pleasant couple of nights at this quiet b and b,not far from the main road and close enough to walk to the town centre. The room was comfortable and clean, there was plenty of choice for breakfast(full breakfast recommended).Tea and coffee making facilities in room.Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our only suggestion to improve a visit would be install net curtains in downstairs rooms. Our room with garden view had no privacy, and the sight of a guest in a front room wandering around in his underwear as we returned to the accommodation on Sunday evening was not appealing!

Excellent stay lovely bnb, very comfortable, quiet with everything you need was provided. Mindful of some of the negative review here firstly I would point out this isn’t a hotel it’s a bnb, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were just lovely. The room was clean spacious and comfortable, had tea /coffee facilities, I had an adjacent bathroom which was clean and comfortable with all facilities in good shape, there good parking facilities and a brisk walk to town took me 20-25 mins. When staff weren’t onsite it was simple and quick to access me key and thereafter there was no need for anyone to be there as I could come and go as I pleased. For sure it’s a bit dated but not that it affects you or stay negatively. All in all I had a grand 3 days here and definitely will be back. Thanks to all at the Rivendell.

I have concerns about fire safety at this guest house after my stay there. The fire alarm went of the first night of stay. Duty manager was called, James, he did not stay on premises. He proceeded to turn of alarm prior to checking if everyone was safely out. He then stated he new who had set alarm off and went to talk to him. He returned and informed us that the gehad been vaping in his room. He stated that he had been asked to leave. On th Friday morning I voiced my concerns about how it was handled to the lady serving breakfast. She proceeded to tell me that in fact it wasn't the room that James went that had triggered the alarm itcwas one in the main building. He had failed to read the fire board properly. He put all our lives at risk by being unable to correctly read board. I will not be staying here again.

I’ve waited over 24hrs to write this as I didn’t actually want to leave such a negative review! We arrived at the property slightly early but we’re willing to wait to check in. We rang the number 3 or 4 times and eventually someone answered and gave instructions of how to enter. The entrance is lovely with a real Scottish theme and original woodworks and brass plaques. The room was very reasonable for the price, clean and good amenities (tea/coffee tray well stocked) ironing board, hair dryer, etc. The bed was comfortable and we overlooked the back so quiet away from the road. We soon went for a walk into town, had a wander and a meal and arrived back around 9pm. We highly recommend India Palm, great service and lovely meal. At 2am we were woken by the door bell, it rang and rang, just as we contemplated going to see we then heard shouting and swearing and banging on the doors and windows. A domestic between 2 residents had broken out and as we didn’t wish to be involved remained in our room. This went on until 5am when the chef arrived and managed to quieten things down. The pair had the audacity to come to breakfast and order only to leave it untouched. After they left the breakfast room was left with a very tired bunch of residents. The chef Neil was the only person who tried to apologise and offered means of complaint. However upon ringing the number and explaining I have waited over 24 hrs for a call back as promised and heard nothing. As there is no one on sight apart from at breakfast it’s difficult to speak with anyone. I appreciate this wasn’t the fault of the b&b but I feel had they called me back and offered an apology I would have felt differently but on the basis with how they have dealt with the situation they leave me no option. We had very little sleep and returned from our stay exhausted.
