Popular Dubrovnik 4-star Hotels

This hotel's main fault was it had bad air conditioning. We called for help and ours worked fairly well but others in our group had issues with the heat in their rooms. We had a dinner buffet which was so so without many choices of food nor very tasty food but the dining area was pleasant. We had a nice view from our room which could see the sea in the distance. And the walk to the old town section of Dubrovnik was fairly easy down hill. There was a bus #4 to get back up the hill to the hotel from the nearby square where the Pile Gate access is located. You first buy a ticket at the little kiosk across from where the bus picks you up for just under 2 euros. The hotel's pool had delightfully cool water.

This is a lovely hotel, clean rooms with good supply of hot water & easy to control air-con, clean pool, free pool towels and free safe (no deposit required), pleasant and welcoming staff. Great breakfast with lots of choice. The hotel kindly prepared us a packed breakfast one morning as we had booked an early trip. Also they were quite happy to provide us with an early morning call. Live music is provided several nights a week in the pool area and is good, and not overly loud. Poolside food is excellent and not too pricey. There are vending machines in the hotel so you can get cold drinks and snacks at any time, however they do appear to be a bit temperamental. I was concerned before I arrived after seeing some reports of construction work outside the hotel but in my opinion it has little impact on the hotel. The work is being carried out to the harbour road, so there is some disruption to the view of the boats and beyond from the hotel pool area. However in terms of noise, we experienced none during our stay other than a couple of lorries passing along the road. In terms of access, if you turn left outside the hotel gate, you can easily walk into the town on a well made road and footpath. If you turn right, it is rough underfoot and not suitable for high heeled shoes or pushchairs, but anyone wearing flat shoes and able-bodied is fine (but to be honest, there's little need to turn right). The buses run frequently into Old Dubrovnik (2 euros each way) and the bus stop is about a 10 mins amble up the hill on the roundabout (slightly less if you use the steps on the left after the hotel as it's a short cut). Plenty of restaurants up the hill and across the road to the pedestrian walkway to the beach. Lots of choice.

We stayed at the Royal Neptun for 1 week, it is 1 of 3 hotels forming a complex - Neptun is a 4 star and the other 2, 5 star and we could definitely see the difference. The highs, the location is outstanding, the walk along the promenade to the bars and restaurants, superb. The roof top bar and pool, amazing place to have drinks and watch the sunset, the pizzas in ‘on the rocks bar’ yummy, food and setting in Zoe was well worth the money, and the massage in the spa was one of the best I’ve had. So why only 3 stars: we checked in, other guests checking in were offered support with their luggage which we weren’t, maybe only for the 5 star, we didn’t mind but just noticeable. We walked into our room, first sight clean and tidy but then started to notice the red and white stains on the carpet, broken shower and safe, bathroom door sort of fixed. Breakfast was not a pleasant experience at all, it is not big enough for the size of the hotel, lots and lots of people walking around looking for tables, no management overseeing the flow of customers, staff moral appeared low, no one was smiling, would pass and not acknowledge you, when trying to attract attention it was like they looked through you and go in a different direction. Food ran out very quickly, all meats, cheeses etc were not covered and I could see the flies landing on it, the queue for omelettes was at least 10mins so big gathered all around where other guests were trying to eat. Pool area, as this is a family hotel was really surprised to see glass being used, 1 time were saw a glass break and a little boy cut his foot and second a wine glass broke and the stem ended up in the pool - no one was asked to leave whilst it was cleaned. This hotel has the making of amazing place to stay so hoping this feedback will help make the tweaks it’s needs.

The hotel is not in the old city but the location is very good. There is a bus station right outside the door and many buses go to the old city. One-day tickets can also be exchanged at this bus station, and there is no need to go to the pile gate to exchange them. The hotel room is large, new and clean, and the service staff is very friendly. It was my traveling companion's birthday, and the hotel sent a card and birthday cake, which was very thoughtful. You can book a day trip to Mostar without any fees. The hotel was reasonably priced and exceeded expectations. There is also a large supermarket nearby where you can buy water and other daily necessities. Not far from the bus station and pier. The price of the hotel restaurant is reasonable, and there is a set meal for 8.50 euros at noon on weekdays, which is very cost-effective. Overall very recommendable.

The hotel is located close to the road. If you drive from Zadar, you can see the sign on the roof after crossing the bridge. The parking lot is relatively spacious. It's convenient for access. The beautiful harbor of Dubrovnik can be easily seen from the balcony of the hotel.

I spend ages on TA whittling down my list picking a hotel and I’m glad I settled on this one. The Argosy is excellent. Lovely views from the hotel and pools out to sea, nicely kept gardens and a short walk from behind the hotel to the promenade or “beach area. Hotel is immaculate. We had a “partial sea view” room which was great. Nice big room with plenty of space ( no drawers for smalls tho! Kept them in the suitcase). The room must be well soundproofed too as we never heard any other guests. I’m sure there was a baby in the next room too, maybe it was just a quiet baby! I have never seen such a wide array of food at a hotel breakfast buffet! Lots of different cheeses, meats, salad, breads, cakes, real honeycomb, goulash, the list goes on.. we also ate pizza at the little bistro which was very tasty I’m being picky but couldn’t understand why no milk is provided in the room with the tea bags etc, and you have to pay for it if you get in the hotel ( we got some at the mall) and the towels were a bit “hard” but the may be due to being eco friendly? Also I could only find Sky news and BBC news on the Tv. Other English speaking channels would be appreciated. Get your return bus tickets in the little hotel shop. The bus is regular. One tip, it’s a free for all when you get the return bus from the old town, I’m afraid “first come first served” and politely queuing doesn’t seem to apply here so when it’s busy take care. The buses do get crammed too so be prepared to stand. I definitely recommend this hotel!

The desk staff are friendly, but the service items are too poor to be considered a 4-star hotel. This was my first time in a hotel without welcome water. There was bottled water in the minibar for a fee.

Villa Orabelle Dubrovnik is necessary when visiting Dubrovnik Croatia. This small luxury hotel offers all the amenities for a perfect vacation. Do yourself a favor, when you visit Dubrovnik for business or pleasure, stay at Villa Orabelle Dubrovnik. You will understand how it feels to get pampered from the minute you arrive until you must say “goodbye.” The hotel and staff are amazing. We cannot wait to come back! Stunning reception areas with views over Lapad bay. Rooms clean, well maintained but avoid a classic room if you want to see the sea as the views are of a wall / fire escape. Bar area with nice live music entertainment in an evening. Breakfast good but repetitive. However, although they have separate corner for Gluten Free guests we were told by the chef doing the eggs to put the bread in the main toaster to toast ! When we refused he suggested putting it on the area where they fried eggs / made omelettes so that ended up as fried bread! Fortunately there were a couple of helpful chefs who took it to the kitchen and toasted under a separate grill. The head chef was miserable , the pool bar main staff member was also miserable. One of us fell at the pool as there is a channel within the path to the pool which is not marked, he checked she was ok and gave us ice on request and then charged us for a coffee when she was shaken up! The pool needs a deep clean , there is black algae present. There is no black tape marking the steps within the pool so we fell down into the pool and getting up the steps, many guests did the same thing. The staff in the spa were disinterested, one woman in particular, when I asked for towels told me to get myself from the pool as she sat chatting to her colleague , this was despite towels being stocked in the spa on other days so she just couldn’t be bothered! The housekeeping woman was the friendliest member of staff. We arrived on the actual birthday of one guest , I alerted the hotel ahead of arrival but it wasn’t even acknowledged. We had cocktails in the reception bar for the afternoon and there was no offer of even some nuts/ crisps. It’s a lovely hotel but the staff are obviously sick of tourists, we spent a significant amount of cash both with our booking for 10 nights and drinks/ food and felt they did what they needed to do as a minimum only.

We have just come back from staying here for 10 days (going from in season end of sep to out of season in oct). The view from our top floor sea view was spectacular. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a range of cold and warm food, replenished between 7-10am and has everything you could want. Staff were friendly and helpful. In terms of the room, it was comfortable but lacked storage space for things that couldn't be hung in the wardrobe. Cpuple of bird could do with a refresh of paint, but overall the main grand hotel parm biilding and rooms are moderrn and spacious. The air con system is very old and very loud we either kept getting woken up by how loud it was (like a motor) or we woke up sweltering... so that was a shame. Our towels were replenished daily, our bedding made daily but in terms of clean bedding maybe it was changed once or twice over the 10 days. Apart from that our room was not cleaned, so after 10 days, things started to look grubby. Bar wasn't open until 2am as stated, maybe because it was out of season so we tended to have the last drink there around 11 before they closed up. Pool area - clean and not busy so you won't struggle to get a sunbed. We spent about 4 afternoons around the pool and only once was there staff at the pool bar serving drinks and food. Rest of the time there was no pool bar or music, so we took cheap beer and food from the shop to enjoy by the pool instead. Overall I think it's a good facility for anyone mid 30s onwards and in a good location as there are lots of restaurants and cafe bars and shops close by and the views and walks around are great. But if you're someone that goes on holidays to spend a lot of time at the hotel, maybe this isn't the one. Few disappointing features but didn't ruin our holiday. In my opinion, this is more of a 3+ star bot a 4 star due to the cleanliness during our stay
