The St. Regis Dubai, the Palm

The service is as attentive as always.

First, the check-in process was quite slow. The staff took quite a while to confirm my information. I had assumed each room would have a dedicated butler, but that didn't seem to be the case. The staff member who escorted me to the elevator only escorted me to the elevator entrance. They usually escorted me to my room and explained how to use the amenities and where to put things. I spent a long time searching for the hair dryer. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the light above the dressing table. They seemed to be constantly promoting their shopping mall. I asked if it was duty-free, and then nothing happened. The room was quite large and comfortable for one person. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a view of the Burj Al Arab in the distance, which was a plus. However, the curtains weren't electric, which was a bit of a problem. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub and was quite large and spacious. However, the bathtub wasn't very clean and had obvious stains. I called the front desk to ask if they had disposable bath bags, but they didn't. So they called the cleaning staff to clean it again. The cleaning manager apologized and was very friendly. The room was indeed much cleaner after the cleaning. The manager said if I wanted a bath, they could arrange for someone to set it up, and they did. A flower petal bubble bath was set up for me. After the bath, I went to the spa on the second floor for a massage. The staff were friendly and the massage was gentle, which was great and relieved my travel muscle aches. There's a gym on the other side of the second floor, but the equipment isn't very comprehensive. On the third floor, there are outdoor pools on both sides with scenic seating. The sky pool requires advance reservations, and if you order food and beverages, you can also take photos outdoors. I was originally booked a seat at the bar, but apparently due to the off-season, I was moved to a two-person high-top table with a great view. I loved it. For airport travel, the concierge will help call a taxi for a flat rate. Also, the toothpaste used for toiletries was sticky and the toothbrush was difficult to use. The body lotion had a strange smell. Finally, the water bottle cap was too tight for women to open.

The service was very good. Chocolates were given when the bed was made. It was convenient to eat next to the mall and go to the rooftop to see the Palm Island. If you don't bring children, you can also make an appointment to enjoy the infinity pool on the rooftop.
