First time traveller to the IoM. Needed a mid-priced B&B with a central location on the bus route from Ronaldsway airport. Cubbon House (CH) seemed to fit the bill and have exemplary reviews. I wasn't disappointed. CH is found a quarter of the way down the Esplanade from ferry terminal. About 10-12 mins walk from the train station if you're taking the steam train down to Port Erin, and 20mins walk from the the Derby Castle terminus if you're taking the electric tram servive to Ramsey. Turn right out the door then right again and your ten seconds from the main shopping thoroughfare. In other words CH is ideally placed for those with no transport wanting to do the basic tourist stuff on a first time visit. I stayed in a single room on the second floor. The room was compact but had everything you wanted. Mattress comfortable, pillows a bit thin, but you get two so they double up to a nice height. The linen had a nice fresh smell. It might sound daft but the cord of the hairdryer was long enough to reach so you could actually dry your hair in front of a mirror. Some places don't think about the bascis actually fit together. Similarly it was a relief to finally stay in a place with normal coat-hangers and not those you have to hook in/out of a metal attachment. I arrived early April but the weather was gorgeous. The radiator had been left on so the room was very warm. Obviously you could switch it off, but have no doubt if you stay in the Autumn/Winter this room will be quite cosy. Shower was more than adequate. Met the basics of having a height adjustment for the nozzle and an attachment to hold your toiletries at chest height. Small fridge was also helpful. Iron and ironing board just outside the door on the landing. Lots of tourist information and pamphlets available in the room, and all up to date. Breakfast was basic and as advertised. You can have cereals, fruit and yoghurt and then a full English cooked breakfast made to order. The food was well prepared and more than adequate in amount. Throughout the stay Lisa and Paul the owners were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. For what I paid, the location, and the experience I had, I'd more than recommend CH and would return if/when I visit the IoM again.

The hotel is a short walk from the ferry terminal in Douglas . Had friendly welcome from the owner Paul who was helpful in giving information about the area . Had good room at front which had an excellent view of the bay. The room was spacious and clean and had facilities such as TV, hairdryer, small fridge and usual tea/ coffee making facility. The bathroom was clean and had a shower. The downside were the several flights of stairs needed to climb up to the room which was OK for me but some might find difficult . Price included an excellent cooked breakfast which was prepared according to individual choice and preferences. The breakfast was cooked by Lisa who was also friendy and helpful about providing information . The cost of the room was very reasonable. There was a comfortable TV lounge for hotel guests on ground floor.

Disappointing. With all the great reviews I expected a more. To be fair I'd booked a room for one person by mistake and the solution was dealt with swiftly. Lisa charged an extra £40 for my mistake...whilst explaining that normally the rooms are £100 per night for 2 guests (not true) but she was offering a 15% discount special ( it turns out 20% for everyone else 😂). It's not the amount but it's more the principle... especially when I had the card machine rammed under my nose before I had even put my bag down on the bed. What I didn't like was breakfast only being served between 8am & 9am...way too early for me on holiday. It was very reminiscent of old fashioned B&B's. The heating was also turned off overnight which I found hilarious...wear thermal pyjamas! The pillows were wafer thin, the beds a wee bit hard too and the window dirty. The stairs up to the room could also do with a shampoo too. However, what I really appreciated was afternoon housekeeping provided...thank you and I also appreciated the cereal, yogurt and fruit left in the room for breakfast...thanks again The room was spotlessly clean and nice and quiet. Clearly, from the ratings, my experience was possibly an exception. As for the promise of "arrive as a guest and leave as a friend" this wasn't my experience but my best guess is the feeling's mutual... especially after this review! 😂

I found Cubbon House very comfortable and clean. Lisa and Paul are an amazing couple, always cheerful and friendly: they make you feel very welcome. I had everything I needed in my room. It’s very close to town, restaurants, the theatre. Great for walks along the seafront. Parking was easy. My sea view was lovely.

Stayed here on a flying visit to see family. Booked a twin room with a sea view which you could see the bay of Douglas. Parking was great as long as you return after 5 to help with ease of spaces be available with a 2 hour slot between 8am and 6pm. Room was clean and welcoming and breakfast was great with a choice of cereals, yoghurt and cooked with toast. Fresh coffee or tea. Nice warm welcome on arrival for both Lisa and Paul. Will use again on our next visit.

Made extremely welcome by Lisa and Paul who run this B&B, what a great place to stay overlooking Douglas Bay. I stayed in Room 5, a room with excellent sea views which were amazing and to watch the sunset in the early morning was brilliant. Room was excellent, spotlessly clean with an en suite and tea making facilities. Breakfast was everything you would want with great choices. 100% would highly recommend anyone looking for a B&B here in Douglas to stay here.

I stayed for 2 nights in July in a single room on the top floor. Everything about my stay was excellent. The welcome was very warm and Lisa and Paul did everything they could to enhance my stay, with delicious and hearty breakfasts and somewhere to store my luggage for a while after checkout on my last day. The room had every facility you could possibly require and a very comfy bed. The location is perfect and very well served by public transport. Altogether a brilliant place to stay and very good value for money. Thanks Lisa and Paul for your hospitality.
