Rathbaun Hotel

Just about the most friendly inn I’ve ever stayed in. Comfortable and quiet rooms located right in the center of town. Charming restaurant with homemade dinner. Breakfast was lovely. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were so eager to be please. Highly recommend ! Free parking one half block away. Close to cliffs of Moher and Doolin.

My sister and I spent the weekend in Ireland (Milltown Mullagh) and visited lisdonvarna briefly. We were walking along and spotted a map of Ireland in the shop window of hotel which we had both been looking for. On entering the shop John welcomed us warmly and was a true gentleman and a pleasure to meet. We each purchased a Picture and John went onto expertly roll/wrap the map for us to take back to the UK undamaged. Will definitely return and visit the hotel/restaurant next time.

OUr family stayed in three rooms at the Rathbaun recently and really liked our stay. At check in Lynn helped us with an excellent restaurant suggestion and voluntarily made a reservation. ( The Roadside restaurant is quite good and only 100 yards away). The rooms were very basic but clean and and neat. Breakfast was quite good and served with another helping of hospitality. We definitely recommend the Rathbaun. YOu can pay a lot more and enjoy fancier accommodations, but you will not find more accommodating staff.

As part of our trip down the west coast of Ireland we stopped here for a couple of nights as it is a great location to use as a base for travelling round the county. The welcome we received from the staff was fantastic. Part of the reason we booked here was for security as we were worried about ensuring the motorbike would be safe. The staff opened up a secure yard for us to store the bike in overnight. They also have a room to dry out wet clothes, whether from your bike ride or walking. The rooms were basic but very clean and tidy. My only slight grumble is the shower cubicle in our room wasn't the biggest so if you're over 6 foot you might struggle with elbow room. Having said that everything else about the room was spot on. Breakfast was exactly what you would expect from a hotel here. My wife is slightly fussy about her scrambled eggs but when she spoke to the young lady at breakfast the eggs came out pretty much perfect both days. We were slightly disappointed that the bar and restaurant weren't in use. Apparently they don't open these until later in the season. We were however given quite a few recommendations for where to eat and the lovely lady on reception called one of the local restaurants to book a table for us on the night we arrived which was great, especially as the place she booked for us was fantastic. As has been mentioned in other reviews the staff here are absolutely fantastic and so welcoming. We were given loads of information about the surrounding area, where to go and places to eat. Would definitely recommend staying here as it is a lovely hotel at very reasonable prices with wonderful staff.
