We had a great experience. We booked a 2 night stay with a room overlooking the park and we weren't disappointed. Our family room had 2 bunk beds and a king bed all of which were comfortable enough. Lovely waterfall shower and bath in bathroom. Nice complimentary toiletries and biscuits tea and coffee in room good quality too. Great view from our room of the Tapirs, Maned Wolves and we could even see the Sea Lions. The late night swims from the Tapir a real highlight for our 7 year old but did not lead to early nights! We booked the 'summer saver' deal which covered entry into the park each day for which you were given a voucher at check-in and breakfast which was served in Wilds Cafe Bistro next door and was standard hotel buffet fayre. All staff were helpful and polite and we checked in early without a problem. Some minor grumbles - you can't open the windows - the air con works and is great but means you can't let any fresh air in. Also the only full length mirror is right by one side of the bed which is far from ideal. The resort advertises a 'mini disco' in one of the restaurants which is fine but literally just music no games or interaction so dont expect a mini disco like you may get at a holiday resort or caravan park. The show at the Hive Amphitheatre on site was great fun though. The whole resort shuts down quite early which is fine for the families which is obviously thier core market but I imagine might be a bit frustrating for couples or solo travellers. I will review the park and 2 on site restaurants seperately.

I booked our room months ago, with a check in time of 3pm and check out at 11am, as it always has been on previous trips. The morning of arrival we got the usual check in online email, and were shocked to notice it said check in 4pm and check out at 10am. We were breaking up the long journey home from a holiday in Northumberland, and had hoped to spend 3 or 4 hours in the park before checking in at 3pm then relaxing on our balcony, but instead, couldn’t check in until an hour later, by which time we were very tired. We usually have an overnight stay for the illuminations, usually booking the first slot (4.15) but if we do that this year, we’ll have to book a later slot, by which time it’s very busy. The following morning we felt very rushed, packing early and bolting down our reserved breakfasts to be out be 10am. We have amended to room only for our future booking, to minimise the morning rush. The room was as always, with nice toiletries, lovely shower, great WiFi, well stocked hospitality tray, and comfy bed, albeit softer than I like. We had requested chairs in place of the bean bag, which we got, and greatly appreciated. The balcony overlooked several animals and we were enjoying listening to the night sounds, but unfortunately there was a loud wedding party below us, many of the guests outside, which eventually meant we had to give in and close the doors. So altogether, we don’t feel it was value for money on this occasion, as we paid getting on for £200 for a room with a balcony which we couldn’t enjoy due to the wedding party, and were only allowed in the room for 18 hours (4pm-10am). We did mention about the noise on check out, and were advised we could have rung reception and they’d have spoken to the event. People on a neighbouring balcony were also grumbling about the noise from the party, and we heard other people at breakfast saying it was ridiculous having to check out as early as 10am. We have other flexible bookings coming up which we will probably still come to, but after that, I don’t think we’ll book again. It used to be a treat, but it didn’t feel like it this time, unfortunately.

Despite being told there was a long walk from disabled parking to hotel reception, they failed to tell us that it was about same distance again from reception to room. Room was grubby, badly lit, no window to open for fresh air and only one beanbag to sit on, not that either of us pensioners could have used it. It was dark and dingy and view of park was trees a field and a few pigeons. I need a mobility scooter to get around large park but again, very long walk out to desk to order one and at another £20 I wasn’t terribly impressed. After 3 hours at hotel, nothing to do in the evenings, an overcooked burger for dinner, we had had enough. We asked for a refund at least for the second night as we weren’t staying. They offered us the park refund for one day and one breakfast only. And they had the nerve to say it was a gesture of goodwill. I will be taking this further but if I were you, don’t stay at the Hex hotel under any circumstances. Staff are not helpful it’s not geared up for disabled people it’s dirty and well over priced.

We stayed at the Hex hotel for 1 night. We booked as a deal where we got 2 days park tickets included, which was reasonable value, when considering the price of day tickets. This was a special occasion- son's birthday - so we were happy to pay a bit more than we would for a night away with the kids. We paid a bit extra for a Parkside room with balcony, which I think was worthwhile. The parkside rooms without balconies have windows looking out to the park but I dont think this would have been nearly as good. If you do not have a Parkside room you will be looking out towards the shop courtyard/car park area. That said, there is a limited amount of animals you will see from the hotel no matter what room you have - the maned wolfs, tapirs and bush dogs (possibly the sea lions if you are lucky - although there was a big tree in front of our room that prevented viewing that far). The maned wolves were quite active evening and morning. We only seen the tapirs in the evening - no sign of them at all in the morning. On the other hand, we didn't see the bush dogs at all on day 1 but they were active in the morning of day 2 - once the keeper had done her round at breakfast time. There are many positives. The rooms are done to a pretty high standard. I think decor could be a bit funkier/more modern but they have " played it safe". Shower was very good. Bed was comfy. Slept well. Kids liked their bunk beds. Balcony was a good size. Good to have an iron and ironing board. Tea/coffee tray was great. Small fridge in room - great for drinks after dinner due to lack of places open beyond 9pm (see below!). I also liked the room next to the lift where you could get water /ice and there was vending machines. Some negatives. The balcony furniture isn't great. 2 chairs and a very small 'side table' - not great for 4 people. Inside the room - no real seating there other than a small stool at the dressing table area and a beanbag (which was quite flat - not many beans!). Hardly any mirrors. 1 "hidden" mirror ( lift up lid on dressing table area to find this!). Otherwise the mirror next to the bed was very narrow and not much use. To me the hotel has a lot of potential but lacks atmosphere. I think it would benefit from having the reception in same building as hotel - not across the courtyard (seems a strange set up!). Also, having the restaurant - where you eat breakfast in a separate building is a bit odd. When raining you need to go out of front of hotel in rain to get into building next door to have brekkie! I think there would be more atmosphere if the bistro/bar and reception were all in the hotel. Breakfast was of a pretty good standard for a buffet - again a few things missing to prevent 5 stars! Some more fresh fruit, pancakes/waffles and hash browns would be good additions. I think this place has a lot of potential. It's July - the weather was lovely on the night of our stay but everything seems to close early. Shops and coffee shop in courtyard

The worst hotel iv stayed in,due to a misunderstanding they over charged me,I sent them proof, still not had a part refund, check your bank statement ir receipt before you keave Bed comfy, and fridge in room, but poor overall serve and if you have difficulty in walking the reception isn't im the same part as the rooms, you can only get into the rooms with a card key, given when you check in,just dont ask how much a park entry ticket would be they charge you and then staple it yo the map saying complimentary!dispite me already having purchased 2 tickets from the park itself! Never wiuid i stay there again if your on your own way overpriced, i had the buffet breakfast that was nice the only reason I gave it 2! Be careful,I had little time as i only booked a few days before, nothing was open after 6pm and the only restaurant open was the wild bistro even worse service!as i was 1on my own,i went in at 6pm came out at 7.20pm,I had to repeatedly ask for my desert, in the end I asked for a manager,as the service was so slow, who waits 20mins for a desert?her excise was they were busy, of course they were, family's were coming in(more money),and I was single and ignored, so sorry not for me,in the end I left early couldn't wait to get back home,c Very disappointed

Lovely helpful and friendly staff. Room is modern and not over complicated and really nice and clean. Bed is incredibly comfortable. We stayed in room 224 and had a lovely view out, in the morning we could see the sea lions having their breakfast.
