We have just had a wonderful 7 night all inclusive stay at Hotel Djerba resort, for just £267 each, including easyJet flights (but we didn't have hold luggage). You cannot take money into Tunisia. We took 500 dinar out from the cash machine at Djerba airport, as it wouldn't let us take out more. There is also a cash machine in the hotel reception, but this only lets you take out 300 dinar. You can't often pay by card in Tunisia. So make sure you have cash. The hotel let us check in at 12 when we arrived. Pool towels were 20 dinars each, fully refundable as long as you keep receipt. There was tourist tax to be paid upon arrival at reception, it was about £43, we paid on card. The hotel WiFi was good, but I got an eSIM 15 days £9.20 5 gig from esim.sm so I would be able to use internet and call and message via WhatsApp outside the hotel. The hotel is 35 mins drive from Djerba airport. There is a taxi rank outside the airport. We asked the driver of the yellow taxi the price, he said 35 dinar, which is very reasonable, so we gave him 50, and he then became our driver for the holiday. He took us around the island wherever we wanted to go all day for 150 dinar a day- we arranged the route with him beforehand. The island is compact – just 200 square miles –it is possible to see all highlights in 2 days. Eg day 1 El Ghriba Synagogue, Djerbahood and Houmt Souk (the capital), Day 2 Djerba Explore Park, and Musee De Guellala. Also the taxi to and from Midoun (the local town) is just 10 dinar. Midoun has a few shops. There are a few shops within a 10 minute walk of the hotel also. All shops/souks in the area sell the same sort of things, and are reasonably priced. If you don't want to haggle go into shop, not the souks. We bought a small bowl for 4.5 dinar, a kaftan dress for 50 (possibly could have got that cheaper in the souks but I liked it), and some leather sandals for 20, from fixed price shops. It is a little bit difficult to find bars/restaurants that serve alcohol in Tunisia. Beach bars that are open and serve alcohol are not very frequent at this time of year. We went to Hotel Dar El Bahr (40mins walk with sea to the right) and La BARAQUE BEACH (20 mins walk with sea to the left). We were disappointed there was no beach bar we could use on our beach (which is a 5 minute walk- turn right out of the hotel, left at the end of the road, then right to the beach). Especially because there is a sister hotel of ours on the beach- Vincci Dar Midoun, but the security guard on the beach told us we cannot have a drink there, and said there is nowhere we can get an alcoholic drink on the beach (All the beach bars close to our hotel are part of all inclusive hotels, and they don't allow outsiders to buy a drink there apparently). We also booked a pirate boat trip to Flamingo island through the hotel. Flamingo island is not an island it is a sandy peninsula called Ras R’mal. It was 150 dinars each, with pickup from the hotel and lunch (chicken kebab, salad, spag

The hotel definitely did not meet expectations. The rooms were dirty and neglected, and the beach – instead of being a place to relax – was full of camel excrement. The only positive aspect was the good food, but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for everything else. The hotel is absolutely not suitable for families with children or anyone looking for rest – at night, from midnight until 5 a.m., there’s loud disco music, and even earplugs don’t help. I do not recommend it.

Great hotel, gardeners really keep the place lovely. The staff are also very friendly but massive shout out to Rio the animator, amazing guy with so much energy to give! If it wasn't for him we would have been lost as no one spoke a word of English to us. Very much catered to polish and french! Even after making it known they had English people none of the shows were in English. Rio was also the only animator to have introduce himself and get us included. The food was a massive let down, definitely different foods to snack on but nothing had any flavour, even the staff had to eat the same food and they would rather avoid it! Was a big disappointment as we paid for all inclusive and starved most of the week and we aren't a fussy family when comes to food! Constant flies all over the food and plates, nothing was covered! Also people sneezing/coughing over the foods or touching food and putting it back! I did indeed get sick on this holiday! Same with the drinks, it was hard getting drinks as they couldn't understand a word of English. And even some soft drinks were plumbed in to their water so we kept getting upset stomachs! Definitely missing a star for their food/food hygiene! You will be looking for shops for snacks. Also states on website they have swim up bars, that's a massive lie. Also ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you have young kids as the music/fireworks go on every night at the front and sides until like 2am! States pool closes at 5pm but people in the pool at 1am so wasn't sure what the rules were?

It was my first time in Djerba, and it certainly won't be my last. My mom and I enjoyed our 7-day vacation at this hotel. It was clean, had a wide selection of delicious food, and the beach was long and stunning. The team plays the most important role. The animators, waiters, bartenders, and security are exceptional people; you won't go unnoticed with them. Omar deserves special praise for always being helpful and kind. It's clear he puts his heart into what he does and loves his job. Congratulations to the owner for choosing such wonderful people to represent the hotel.

The hotel was generally nice. Every evening some animations, the animators were really nice people, friendly, always came to talk. Zumba in the pool was only the best with Eliza and Victoria, Aqua gym nothing special but they really tried. The food was ok for me, everyone found something for themselves. Overall, I highly recommend it.

I treated my mum to a special trip for her 60th birthday as her first time in Tunisia and overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. We usually prefer more independent, explore-the-town type holidays rather than resort-style all-inclusives, but this hotel pleasantly surprised us. The animation team were definitely the highlight particularly Emmy and Masha. They were warm, friendly, and constantly went out of their way to engage with guests. Their energy and kindness made such a difference and really added to the holiday vibe. That said, there were a few downsides that are worth mentioning. First, there was a strong sewage smell coming from the air conditioning in our rooms, which was quite unpleasant. Also, the reception staff during the day weren’t as friendly or helpful as we’d expected, a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the team. One practical issue was that the hotel expects you to pay for everything in cash which was surprising for us coming from the UK where we use contactless/card for almost everything. It would be helpful if this was made clearer ahead of time. Another frustration was with checkout. We had paid for three people and asked if we could keep the room a little longer on the final day, especially as our flight was later in the evening. Unfortunately, they wanted to charge us extra for this even though we’d already paid for 3 people for the whole holiday despite only 2 of us attending in the end. It felt a little inflexible and not in keeping with the otherwise warm experience we had.
