Hampton Inn & Suites des Moines Downtown

The hotel staff were very nonchalant and very uncaring. We paid over $400 to stay Saturday night. The TV had no remote and didn't work. They never got it fixed nor did they offer any kind of compensation in fact they were belligerent at midnight. The lady at the front desk fingernails were so long she couldn't change the batteries in the remote. She also wouldn't allow me to change the batteries in the remote. This is a reflection of the leader ship. While looking for the remote in the room, we found moldy rotten food under the bed. Disgusting lights in the bathroom see photos.

We stayed five nights, while in town for the National Senior Games. We loved the location. Easy access from parking garage to hotel. We had a king suite with river view. Great view of river(4th floor) plenty of room for the two of us to spread out and be comfortable. Room was very quiet, but could hear and see the occasional train-fun-not annoying. Maid service came twice during our stay to empty trash and refresh towels. Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn spread, crowded but never out of anything. Location was great, easy walking to restaurants and farmers market. If ever in Des Moines again this would be my go to stay.

Couldn't decide between this and luxury downtown hotels. This was the perfect choice. Chose King Studio riverview with microwave/frig. Hilton Honors member so don't know if that affected the experience, but using Hilton app was able to pick room during checkin the day ahead. (picked top floor, 622) and parking.Then when arrived used digital key to enter parking and go to room. This hotel is a little away from tightly packed downtown buildings. Expansive view of river and could see capitol building in distance, Bedding excellent, plugs for computers/phone and lights by bed perfect. Large space (about 450? sq ft) vs 260sf or so for some more trendy hotels. Very clean. I read other reviews some very good, a few not good, but this is highly rated and deserves it. Excellent choice. And good service. When we arrived we noted need for extra regular coffee packets for next morning and they brought them up within an hour. Didn't eat free breakfast because we brought food & used frig. Great comfort.

I stayed here last year and my stay then was not acceptable, I returned for reasons of convenience. Still no HH recognition as before and just reinforces to me staying at hotels for brand loyalty is a waste of money. The tv didn't work, so i went down to the front to inquire. I knew at 10 pm there wouldn't be anyone on staff to fix it, but the agent suggested unplugging everything and replugging them. It worked. In the am, they were out of meat and after a few minutes, I asked the attendant if they were going to have any more. She didn't know there was none and said she'd fill up the bacon!! Others just moped around uttering, "why no bacon...?" It all seemed pretty lame, so I spoke up!

This hotel is clean, comfortable, and centrally located. It is right near a trendy restaurant district which is a great plus. It is also has a scenic view of the riverfront and the capitol building. The rooms are large with great amenities. The breakfast is the standard Hampton Inn fare--I don't find much difference from place to place. The parking garage adjacent charges $20 for the day--and you can come and go as you please without further charge. The garage is located so that you can go directly into your floor without going down to the lobby of the building. I'd stay here again in a minute.

Yes! This checks ALL the boxes Other than the possibly crummy parking (either find it yourself on the street or pay for the parking garage), this was an incredible stay!! The staff was all friendly. It was a beautiful hotel. Great night life area! Would absolutely come back!!
