Excellent stay. From the beginning, the front desk representative was very polite and professional and we felt welcome and well taken care of until the very end. The Speakeasy bar was also a great find. Highly recommended. Great hotel.

My husband and I stayed here briefly on a road trip we did through Iowa and Nebraska. The hotel is beautiful and we only got to visit one restaurant, Hobnob Coffee and Wine Bar, for breakfast. We stayed on a Sunday night to Monday night and there weren’t many guests or staff. We wanted room service and followed the instructions on the card left in our room (you’re supposed to pick your meal choices and leave the card on the handle of your door the night before your expected breakfast). Unfortunately, the breakfast never came, so that’s why we ended up just eating at the restaurant. That was a bit disappointing for the quality of service the hotel is supposed to be offering, but we assumed it was because there was not a lot of staff that night.

The hotel itself is gorgeous. The amenities? Well, they go cheap on the simple things. Only one soap, so I had to keep switching it between the sink and the shower. There wasn't a pen in the room. One of the nightstand lamps was controlled my the switch by the door so to use that lamp meant getting out of bed to turn it off. And worst of all, AFTER room service, the toilet paper holder was EMPTY!

Had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Fort Des Moines in Iowa. The service was top-notch from start to finish, and a special shout-out goes to Jason, the valet. His superb service truly made our arrival and departure seamless and stress-free. Highly recommend this hotel!

Beautiful hotel. We had a King Suite room that was very large. The suite had a foyer with a living room and bath separate from the bedroom. The room was very clean and modern feeling with touches to make it feel classy and old. Lobby has been restored nicely but still has a feel of old hotels with lots of beautiful wood trim and decor. Staff was nice. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel was old, charming and in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The bed was comfortable and quiet. There were many restaurants with in walking distance. We are coming over to Hilton Honors from being IHG members for sometime, the IHG hotels are becoming expensive and rundown. We find Hilton Honors hotels to be lovely and affordable.

Besutiful and unexpected find in Des Moines
We stopped after a long day on the road. The hotel was recently beautifully refurbished, the bartender was friendly, and the beds were luxurious. Breakfast coffee and croissant the next morning was just the right touch. And parking was right out the front door. Definitely will make a point of stopping on our way through in the future.
