Renaissance des Moines Savery Hotel

I travel for work and spend about four nights a week in different hotels, so I try to be fair and always highlight the positives. In this case, the one true positive was how impeccably clean the room was — and I truly mean that. We arrived late at night, and while there were people at the front desk, the experience felt hands-off. At one point we had to remind someone we were still waiting to check in. Once we got our keys and headed up, I was stunned by the size of the room — this was by far the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. And I’ve stayed in rooms from various brands, big and small. This wasn’t just compact — it was not functional. The bed was a full size (a first for me in a hotel of this category), the bathroom was incredibly tight with no counter space, and the shower was cramped. It felt more like a dorm room or a micro-efficiency than what you’d expect at a Renaissance property. I also tried calling the front desk twice during my stay and no one ever picked up. While there was no rudeness, it felt like we were left to fend for ourselves. For work trips, I don’t need ultra luxury — I need comfort and functionality: a decent bathroom, a little space to move around, and somewhere to set a bag down. I’ve stayed in lower-category hotels that delivered that balance far better. For one night, it got the job done, but would I choose to stay here again? If I had options — probably not. There’s a lot of polish here, but in my opinion, it’s a bit too much pomp and circumstance with not enough substance. Cleanliness was top-notch, but comfort and function missed the mark.
