Wow. What a disappointment. I was attending a business conference next door at the Hilton Anatole and wanted to save a few bucks. The AAA rate was just over $100/night. I’m glad I didn’t pay more. The hotel is VERY worn and tired. Credit to the housekeepers who kept everything clean that could be cleaned but heavily trafficked carpets need to be replaced more than once every 20 years. There’s an iron stockade fence around the entire property and there’s one in and one out. Don’t try walking anywhere. The surrounding neighborhood is a little sketchy. The morgue is right next door and there are plenty of unhoused individuals wandering around. The housekeepers were all quite pleasant and spoke every time they saw me. On the other hand, the front desk staff rarely looked up as I came and went, only speaking once to me over three night stay. All in all, it was inexpensive, but not up to Hilton Garden Inn standards I expected.

This hotel is situated downtown with lots of homeless people around. It's also right beside the noisy freeway and near a hospital. All night the noisy traffic and the hospital helicopter were so loud it was not possible to get a good night's sleep. Perhaps if you choose a room near the back of the hotel it will help but I'm not sure. Mine was directly in front of the building. My neighbors slammed their room door on and off all night long, coming and going, which also prevented my sleep. I arrived on a Wednesday night and the complementary cookies were all eaten. The next day sacks of popcorn were offered and Friday nothing was offered. The breakfast buffet was a shocking $18. Lunch is not offered, only breakfast and dinner. The fitness center was fine. The hotel is rather dated and hallway carpets are horrid and need badly to be replaced. The tub drain in my room was clogged. The staff was great but I'd probably not book here again.

First and foremost, the rooms reeked of sewage. It made it genuinely unpleasant to spend any time in the room. Whether it was a plumbing issue or something else, the smell was unacceptable for any hotel. On top of that, the staff experience was shockingly poor. My friends and I attempted to play cards in the lobby, which had several spacious tables clearly meant for guests to relax or work. Despite the area being completely empty, we were told we couldn't sit there because it was designated for their so-called “restaurant” — an overpriced, underused corner of the lobby. We politely asked to stay since no one else was using the space, but the staff refused and directed us to the other side of the lobby, where the tables were tiny and the chairs low and uncomfortable. Later that evening, once the “restaurant” had closed and the tables were still empty, I asked again if it would be okay to use one — only to be met with an unnecessarily rude response from the front desk. Instead of explaining the reasoning, the staff member raised his voice and told me just to use the other side of the lobby. The whole interaction was completely unprofessional and showed a clear lack of respect for paying guests. The policy itself is ridiculous. Why enforce such a petty rule about empty tables in a public space, especially when no one else is using them? If I’m paying to stay at your foul-smelling hotel, the least you could do is let me use a table in your empty lobby without attitude.

To be a Hilton property, the property is run down. The staff were friendly but I couldn’t wait to leave. It made my overall experience feel subpar. The bathtub was gross. It wasn’t dirty, just VERY old and appeared to be dirty.
