ZZanjiadesanbaoThis hotel is absolutely stunning. In bustling Dali, finding such an oasis of tranquility is truly a rare gem. Even just unwinding on the balcony is pure bliss. The hotel also has an incredibly adorable, well-behaved, chubby cat! I absolutely adored my stay here. I only wish I had booked for longer; I'll definitely extend my stay next time. It completely surpassed all my expectations.
During peak season, I'd highly recommend avoiding Shuanglang – it's too noisy and congested. Stay here instead; it feels like you have Erhai Lake all to yourself. Seriously, you *must* book this hotel (and for more than a couple of nights if you can!), you won't regret it!

RricandoThe guest house owners were very initiative. They picked us up from the Dali Railway station. The rooms were clean. Since there are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, we had a big room and a smaller room joined together with 2 large beds. The view was amazing.
Upon arrival, it was 4.45pm, and we asked for recommendations of where to eat. However, since it's neither dinner nor lunch time, the owner Mr Hao suggested that we eat in the guesthouse itself. The guest house auntie cooked for us the best rice noodles that we have eaten so far. Springy white noodles in a bowl of hot flavourful broth. My kids slurped it all up and polished the whole big bowl.
When we asked for recommendations on local eating places, Mr Hao gave us a whole list of his specially curated food places, which we managed to try 2 of them. And indeed they were good.
The downside was that there were no coffee or tea sachets in the room. But they said they will make it for us and can send it to our rooms. They mentioned that they have a tea room. And so we enjoyed the 2 types of brewed puer tea while Mr Hao explained a little about the tea.
Personally, I feel that since they have a special tea room to enjoy tea, sending sachet or tea bags would be inappropriate and a disrespect to the art of enjoying Puer tea.
Location wise, it has a good view of the lake. And it's quiet. It's not exactly near the old town but we took a taxi (20 mins) to the old town. Thankfully, we didn't stay at the old town as it's way too crowded, and we felt it's a tourist trap. However, near the guest house, there were many highly recommended restaurants.
The guest house has a dining area on the 1st floor. One thing that I really enjoyed about this place is the dining area. The lady that cooked the meal for us looked like a typical chinese grandma (which reminded me of my late grandma) that she cooked the food so deliciously with passion. While we had our breakfast she would sit at another table, she wasnt staring , just casually sitting while browsing her phone or ensuring we finish our food but her presence reminded me of when my late grandma would sit and watch us eat to ensure we have no leftovers. Lol. It was an oddly familiar and nostalgic feeling that we laughed about. But we do get the homey feel, which we really liked. The guest house also had a laundry room for guests to use.
The guest house owners were very initiative, friendly, and helpful. Anything we need, we just let Mr Hao know, and he would reply. He even offered to send us back to the highway station.
It's definitely highly recommended. And I would ask my friends that should they come to Dali, they should stay in this place. It's just perfect for us.

Many small details in the hotel are better than those in chain hotels. The toilet is smart, the bathtub is cleaned very clean, and there are disposable bathtub masks and bubble bags, unlike some hotels that are just decorations. The toiletries are better than those in the hotel, and the disposable slippers are thicker than those in the hotel. There are also face towels and disposable bath towels. The washing machine will also be specially disinfected. There are many small details, and you can see that they are very attentive! More comfortable than staying in a hotel

The ocean view here is unparalleled, and it doesn't suffer from the noise typical of places right along the coastline. You can easily order takeout right to your door. A big plus is that you can even rent electric scooters within the complex. On the downside, the interior decor could be a bit more refined. The facilities are slightly better than typical guesthouses, but the quality of the beds and pillows could still be improved. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. It's particularly well-suited for family trips, offering more convenience and space than a hotel.

While the room was a bit on the smaller side, it was fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. The shower had excellent water pressure and a consistent, comfortable temperature, and both the bath towels and bedding were wonderfully soft and comfortable. A generous and delicious breakfast was served daily, along with complimentary afternoon tea. As a thoughtful gesture, the staff even prepared a box of pastries for us to enjoy on our journey when we checked out. Our children loved their stay so much they didn't want to leave! We'll definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit.

XXueyingqingfengI absolutely adored this guesthouse; it truly exudes a wonderful Mediterranean vibe! The amenities are, of course, excellent, but what truly sets it apart is their incredibly thoughtful and attentive service. They offer daily complimentary afternoon tea, a complimentary late-night sweet soup, and on-demand butler-style service, which made us truly feel at home. The in-room toiletries are herbal essential oil products, and the mini-bar was always fully stocked with thoughtfully prepared water, beverages, and snacks. It was so comfortable that we ended up not leaving the guesthouse for two days, simply lounging and unwinding! Utterly comfortable! Highly recommended!

It is also close to the ancient city, Longqi Wharf and other places, and the transportation is convenient. The hotel owner and warm and friendly, there is a parking lot shuttle bus pick-up service, providing itinerary planning, attraction recommendations and car rental and other intimate help. The homestay is quiet in the middle of noisy, the surrounding environment is quiet, suitable for like to relax and enjoy nature. There is not a lot of traffic around, and the noise of excessive commercialization is avoided. All in all, it was a great experience.

3300008****We stayed for 2 nights. The service was excellent, and the place was very clean. Its location near the South Gate made exploring the ancient city incredibly convenient, and they offer self-service laundry and drying facilities. For breakfast, you could order main dishes à la carte, with delicious options like wontons, Er Si noodles, and rice noodles. The afternoon tea and complimentary evening wellness soup included in our booking were also a nice touch. It's a pity it rained throughout our stay in Dali, as we hardly got to enjoy the rooftop terrace.

AAnonymous User1. **Check-in Area:** The check-in counter, or front desk, was quite shabby. The computer keyboard was practically caked in grime, and don't even get me started on the sofa next to it – it looked very unhygienic.
2. **Dining:** The breakfast area was a bit cramped, with just four small tables by the street. If you're a party of more than two, you'd have to sit separately, or you might even have to stand and wait for a table. The coffee, however, was good. I only had breakfast once: a cold quinoa salad (see Photo 6) served with bread that had an overpowering artificial creamer flavor. I had been looking forward to the rice noodles for the next day, but serving didn't start until 8:30 AM, which was far too late for my rumbling stomach. Early risers and those who prefer hot meals should seriously consider other options or make alternative arrangements.
3. **Room (2nd floor) - Noise Issues:** Don't even think about getting any sleep at night. After 11 PM, there was still noise along the street, along with the clanging of the garbage truck. (Seriously, I'd strongly advise against staying in the Old Town.) The next day, it started pouring before dawn, and the sound of the heavy rain kept me awake as well.
4. **Room - Facility Issues:** The room I stayed in was supposedly the quietest in the entire hotel. It featured a large bathtub and a bathroom where the toilet and shower area lacked wet/dry separation. Unable to deal with the wet floor, I decided to shower in the bathtub. That's when I discovered Problem #1: the glass partition was completely transparent, with no curtain or frosted glass. The staff member claimed this was 'design.' Then came Fatal Problem #2: the bathtub had no running water, haha! 😄
5. **Room - Odor Issues:** Upon entering, there was a strong musty smell. The staff claimed it was due to 'raw wood,' but it's been 8 years and it still smells like that? Quite amusing.
6. **Staff (Pre-Check-in):** Before I even checked in, they asked me to cancel my booking on the platform and pay them privately for a discounted rate. I have this in writing. This is definitely a huge red flag, and I'm surprised they even dared to suggest it.
7. **Staff (General):** The individuals themselves were nice enough, but I was surprised to find that all the 'Jixiashan' staff were quite young, without uniforms, and seemingly without direct supervision, which gave a very disorganized and casual impression.
8. **Housekeeping:** I was quite satisfied with the housekeeping. Seeing the clean duvet and towels gave me peace of mind (P.S. the pillows were also comfortable). The hotel's facilities are very old; no matter how clean the bathroom tiles were, they still looked run-down, compounded by the dim lighting. Therefore, I feel the housekeeping staff here really have a tough job.
9. **Building Structure:** One morning, during a heavy downpour, when I opened my 2nd-floor room door, the entrance was essentially flooded up to my heels. It was quite a feat that the water didn't spread into the room. At night, there were no lights, so I had to grope my way back to the room along the dark corridor. It would be quite difficult for someone who doesn't remember their way (see Photos 1-2).
10. **Hotel Amenities:** One night, I heard the guest next door return, unable to open their door with the key, and had to call a staff member for help. They chatted for a bit outside the door before the staff member finally told the guest a 'trick': 'The key needs to be inserted a certain way, and the lock has a particular mechanism...' That's quite a struggle – needing a special technique just to get back to your room!
11. **Minor Details:** The room key had a very large, bulky leather tag attached to it. Absolutely no consideration for travelers on long journeys with limited luggage space. Who would want to carry such a bulky thing around?
I originally had high hopes for the 'Jixiashan' brand. When I was in Shangri-La, I heard their Meili store had a collaboration with Kolon, which made me think they had good taste. This Dali Ancient City location is their first store, but it turned out to be such a low standard. Given the daily rate, I guess I understand why. This particular store cannot be found on 'Jixiashan's' mini-program; it's categorized under 'Wang Shenme Chuan Qu Le'.

GGuest UserFirst, the correct name of the hotel is Xiting not Yuting. There was a bit of misunderstanding over which room we booked, which I take to be the result of language communication between Trip.com and the hotel. But the manager was very sweet and Accommodating. The rooms are lovely and it’s in a good location in the old city but relatively quiet.
