🚨🚨HOTEL TO ABSOLUTELY AVOID/THEFT🚨🚨 Hello, my 6 friends and I would like to warn you about the LAS QUENAS hotel in Cuzco because we were robbed of more than €1,000 in total. We stayed 3 nights (3 rooms) in this hotel which seemed quite secure (especially since the people at the reception kept telling us that Cuzco was much safer than Lima). We were leaving in the morning to do the Salkantay (Machu Picchu trek) and we had to leave our backpacks in storage, which is why we had informed them of our departure. However, the staff asked lots of very specific questions about our departure but we weren't worried. On the day of departure we went down for breakfast and during the 15 minutes while the 7 people in the group were going down or up, someone broke into 2 of the 3 rooms and stole 800/900€ worth of cash, a portable battery, sunglasses and an e-reader. The room doors were locked, so the person had the room keys in their possession. We informed the hotel, the staff did not want to know anything, absolved themselves of any responsibility and offered us absolutely no help regarding this major theft in their establishment and the lack of security.
