We have visited the area on 4 occasions in past 2 years, however 1st stay in Ballyliffen. The Ballyliffen hotel is central to attractions and my favourite to date. The hotel is very clean, food is excellent and staff provided an exemplary friendly service. Hotel room had lovely views and when we arrived they had an inventory containg local information. Great value and will be returning again. Ticked all boxes.

One very rude eye rolling staff member destroyed our time here...Laura rudest person ever 😡explained that we were meeting our son and future daughter in law after their meeting with another staff member about the possibility of having there wedding here next year to which we got the questions meeting who ?why do they want to see the beds or something? all the while rolling her eyes .Then turned and walked away abruptly before we could even say that yes we will take a table if she seated us and have a quick coffee while waiting on our family. we were all going to eat afterwards we have heard that the bar food is excellent here.we seated ourselves at a table in the bar she never came back near us just threw scornful looks our direction every time she passed the table. Eventually my husband went to the bar and asked a very helpful young man for 2 coffees and were we ok to seat at that table .coffees were left at the table by Laura no words or any interaction with us at all when our son and partner came back down to meet us we paid for our coffee and left but not before asking staff member Laura full name which was Laura G***t just in case there may be more than one staff member Laura ...this beautiful hotel lost out on a large wedding all over 1 rude staff member I just hope this was an isolated day and not a regular thing for the hotel

Short stay Stay was pleasant enough. Staff are friendly and efficient and helpful. Decent enough for a 3 star hotel and excellent value for money. Would stay again.

Honest When we arrived we booked in for meal that evening and breakfast next morning. This was not the case when we went that eve for dinner. Also no record of us for breakfast. We wanted a bowl Of soup when we arrived but again was out of the question. 50 minute to an hour wait. We were told to do to restaurant across the road. Would not come back to stay there. We will be staying in Ballyliffen town house the next time.

We found a Pig's Back offer for the Ballyliffin Hotel that would have been rude not to take. We decided on mid Nov when the weather took an upturn, and had a fantastic pre-Christmas rush two day break in the Ballyliffin Hotel. The reception and dining areas are very well presented with fresh decor. The bedroom (239) was spotless, (as was the shower room), one double bed and good storage. One chair between the two of us wasn't great as I had to watch TV on bed, hubby having a bad back and needing the chair - though maybe a health and safety issue as two chairs at the end of the bed would have been tight. We had a slight issue as the heating wasn't on on arrival and it had turned chilly, but all it took was a word with reception to remedy this. We looked "downtown" and had a small amount of sea view, overlooked the car park and heard very little noise. Minimal vehicles pass the hotel late or early. Food was excellent - the hot breakfast was not standard fry option - but you could have a large or small fry, and various less usual options such as the maple syrup, bacon and pancake option which I highly recommend. The muesli and plain yogurt was excellent too, topped with a little fruit salad. Husband enjoyed honey and blueberries on his porridge. The proper coffee is a lovely change in a hotel breakfast room. We had turkey and ham dinner to encourage the pre-Christmas spirit and it was delicious, plentiful, and piping hot. We were so full that one desert was sufficient between two. Highly recommend this hotel if you want a quiet seaside break in comfort, and like good plain food.
