What an amazing place, We stayed here for 4 nights and couldn't find anything to fault. The staff on reception are friendly and helpful, the uniqueness of the hotel itself, there is something to visually stimulate you every where you look. Breakfast is help yourself and plenty on offer breads/crackers/meats/cheeses/fruit/yogurts/cereals/ waffles/porridge hot/cold drinks and the most amazingly soft delicious bannana bread. Rooms have everything you need hairdryer, mini fridge, kettle beds were comfortable with nice bed linen and 2 pillows, heating can be adjusted by turning radiators up or down. Our room 32 had the most amazing views. Location wise is around 35 mins from Reykjavik via public transport local buses which are very frequent and is only a five minute walk away, most of the tour companies pick up from bus stop opposite hotel or outside.Hafnarfjörður is a lovely village with beautiful scenery a shopping mall is also here. would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Iceland its very special. The hotel has a restaurant opposite this is also not to be missed.

We had a delicious meal in this perfectly located hotel over looking Cruit George was our gracious host. He was so welcoming, friendly and efficient. He made our visit there very pleasant. I had the chicken and veg curry - very tasty , and my sisters all had fish which was also an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

This is a hotel in desperate need of refurbishment. Looks like there has been no money spent on it since it was built in the mid 1990s. Hotel looks tired and dated and lacks any kind of atmosphere. Add to that an owner who doesn’t appear cut out for a customer facing role then you have a recipe for a pretty poor experience. WiFi virtually non-existent and even the tv didn’t work properly. On the plus side breakfast was decent, bed was comfortable, and a couple of the younger members of staff were doing their best.....but on the whole a poor experience

This is the most incompetent establishment I have ever frequented. They over charged me in APRIL by €78.56 for Sunday lunch. I didn’t notice til i checked my on line banking next day. I’d been charged €156.50 for two adult and I child (spuds and gravy and ice cream for the child - no drinks) The manager Colm has be so rude and ignorant basically calling me a liar saying I got refunded that evening. However it’s not on my bank statement so he said I got cash. He has blamed the bank, the staff and me, saying he hasn’t time for this crap. Now in AUGUST he is saying I got a cash refund that day. I DID NOT. His attitude is unreal, his customer service is despicable, he’s making out I’m a liar. He should remember he will have to rely on us locals during the long winter months. He is the most ignorant obnoxious man I have EVER in my life encountered. It wouldn’t of happened had the previous owner been there, there wouldn’t have even been a question about it. He has ruined a beautiful establishment with his rude surreal attitude and manners. I won’t be back and I am telling everyone I know about it. Good riddance Colm (owner of the once perfect establishment) such a shame.

Myself & my husband stayed here for one night! The staff were warm, welcoming & very accommodating. The bedroom was perfect, cozy & we had a great nights sleep after such a long drive. Breakfast was delicious, the coffee lovely & strong & the service quick. Highly recommend, especially for hikers! We were given great recommendations for places to visit, mountain drives & fishing spots.

In passing this might look like a small insignificant hotel but it was far from it. The staff Eoin and Emma were lovely and really helpful. Although the bed was small it was spotless and ample for our needs. The food was excellent and a good selection of fresh fish and meats. The costs of our stay was very attractive and we cannot wait to return

The road (from the south) leading up to this small hotel provided a scenic drive along the bay and views out to sea. From the front of the hotel the views are equally as nice. We were checked in by an uncertain young man, our room was small facing the derelict back yard of the hotel. It was clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water, wifi was a struggle, which was annoying. We’d made a dining reservation long before arrival but when we went down in the evening we were told they didn’t have a chef and the restaurant was closed. Thanks for letting us know! Breakfast in the morning was modest, my scrambled eggs were more omelette, but it was edible just. The barman struggled to use the computer so checkout took ages. This could be a really fantastic little hotel if the service was improved, as it occupies a great position on the coast.

Room 5 with brutal noise levels from the kitchen extractor. unbearable. Such rooms are not allowed to be rented out in the first place. Upon request, it was turned off at 9 p.m. Unfortunately there was no answer as to when it would start again in the morning. without words. What a shame, we had a dream day on Cruit Island playing golf.

Stayed here for two nights in mid June. Great location and views of the beach and that’s pretty much where it ends. After paying €120 plus per night there is a minimum standard you would expect and it was certainly not reached. It seems hotels in Ireland are charging premium prices for non existent service these days. My biggest gripes and observations: 1. No reception staff on duty on arrival. It seems the reception staff was the bartender and waiter. In fact there are very few staff here at all and guests are expected to wait! 2. Room had no Wi-Fi signal that was stable. 3. Beds and mattresses need replacing asap. 4. Bathroom in our room was tiny. Toilet I think was added later. Picture below. 5. Towels are disgusting, tiny and frayed. Should have been replaced ten years ago. 6. No room cleaning on second day. Standard in any one star hotel. 7. Breakfast was so hit and miss but mainly miss. Items ordered but never served. Long waits and one staff working who was under pressure because everyone came at the same time. But to be fair the waitress was very nice and did her best. A shining light at the hotel! 8. Food presentation was terrible. Ordered scrambled eggs and literally got a plate of scrambled eggs. No decoration, no toast nothing. This hotel was previously owned by the famous Irish singer Daniel O Donnell. Seems nothing has changed since he owned it a decade ago and current owners are living of the name. Time to change guys.
