Boffenigo - the Golden Hour

We really enjoyed our 5-night family trip to this beautiful hotel in the hills above Garda, after visiting Venice. We (2 adults and a 12 year old) shared a comfortable room (junior suite with Lake view) and made good use of the lovely outdoor pool and heated indoor pool (as our 5 days were a bit stormy, we were allowed to use this pool too without paying for the spa facilities) and gym. The outdoor pool is in a well tended and shady garden and there were always sun sunloungers available. The terrace is perfect for a cocktail and watching the sunset. This is a 'grown up' hotel, and although there were children and families, it wasn't noisy or boisterous (e.g. inflatables aren't allowed in the pool, which also closes at 7pm). We ate in the hotel restaurant our first night but found the menu a little fussy and the starters quite narrow in choice, but we really enjoyed our second restaurant visit where we ordered their excellent pizzas and listened to the brilliant live music. We also made use of the small gym and the free morning yoga session/s in the garden. Garda is an easy 10 minute drive and the hotel has some reserved car parking spaces down there, which was really handy. It's also easy to get to the theme and waterparks and to visit other little towns around the Lake. Really recommend a trip to the very pretty Terri Del Benaco, which was only a 20 minute drive away. The staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was amazing, with omelettes cooked on demand. We're only not giving the hotel a 5-star review because although there was a small fridge in our room, there wasn't a kettle, which we could have done with. And the restaurant and poolside bar food was quite restricted and pricey, meaning we did have to drive out for dinner most nights. But I do recommend it for the views and facilities alone - and would definitely return, but with a travel kettle this time ;-)
