This is the first time I’ve written a negative review, but I’ll start with the positive. The complex is very pretty and the trees and plants are very well kept. The pools are a good size and very clean. The on site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. While the location is a bit out of the way, there are some bars and restaurants relatively close by (about 10 mins flat walk) Our favourite was the Beirut Shisha bar serving delicious Lebanese food in a lovely indoor and outdoor setting. Now the negatives: we arrived at around 11:15pm. We were aware of the deposit for the TV and AC remotes but did not realise we could only give this in cash. We always use digital payment but luckily we had a €20 note tucked into one of our passports. We were given a map to find our bungalow, however it took us over 20 mins to find as the numbers are below the porch light ( which wasn’t switched on) and there isn’t any logical order to the numbering of the properties. Our first impression when we opened the door was awful. The bungalow reeked of stale cigarettes. It was even worse in the bedroom and we had to use half a bottle of perfume to spray the whole place including the bedding to try to mask the smell. There was also a different unpleasant musty smell in the bathroom which I thought to be sewers. When I visited the bathroom during the night I was greeted by several cockroaches running across the sink, which scuttled underneath it when I put the light on. I later learned that the musty smell is cockroach pheromones and that several sightings internally is classed as an infestation. We reported this to reception first thing the next morning and they said they would send a technician and housekeeping out straight away. We went out for the day and true to their word had obviously sprayed something because the bathroom now had a chemical smell and we didn’t see any more cockroaches for a few days, but they came back again on our 4th day and we reported it again and they came and sprayed it a second time. As an added precaution, my husband stuffed paper into the large gap which ran the length under the sink. We also blocked the overflows on the sink and bidet with cotton wool pads and kept the plugs in.which seemed to stop them for the rest of our stay. By the 11th day of our 14 night stay, the beds had still not been changed and we had to ask reception to arrange this. Housekeeping had been in to empty bins and change towels during this time but not much cleaning had been done as the floors and shower tray were looking grubby. There was a tree outside which dropped petals all over the outside terrace and garden seating and was never cleaned up during our whole stay. We came back to our bungalow on 3 occasions to find the door left unlocked by housekeeping. While our travel documents were locked safely away, we had left our I-pads and other electronic accessories on the bedside, which fortunately were still there. Looking back, I wish we had made more
