Royal River, Luxury Hotel

We've just returned from the most wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The hotel is stunning and offers a truly unique experience with the river running through. Our river villa room was so spacious, spotlessly clean and offered privacy while sunbathing in our own area. In addition, the hotel has lots of lovely different areas and decor throughout. We didn't even need to leave during our full stay as everything we needed was there. It really does feel like paradise! The staff were so friendly and attentive. Their hard work and dedication really shines through in maintaining the hotel and ensuring guests have all they need. We really hope to return soon. We stayed at the Royal River Hotel for seven nights starting July 16th, and honestly it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. As soon as we arrived we noticed how fresh, clean and calm everything felt, we checked in, then had a tour of the hotel and our villa. The staff were consistently excellent, kind, helpful, genuinely lovely and very attentive, from the reception staff to the butlers, the restaurant and bar staff and the spa team. Our River Villa was spotless and finished to a very high standard. We had a private pool and solarium which was perfect for relaxing. Everything was very well thought out. The bed was very comfortable. The air-con worked perfectly and the whole place was quiet even walking around the hotel, it never felt busy or noisy. We were on half board so had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast was great, a good buffet selection and also had made to order options. Everything was fresh and well presented. Dinner was à la cart every evening. The food was always beautifully cooked and plated. There was a lot of variety on the menu. We also had the special dining experiences which they offer on a Monday and Thursday which was superb. The trip was especially meaningful as we were celebrating a milestone birthday and the team at Royal River made it feel so special and we are so grateful for how well we were looked after. We are already looking at dates to return next year! If you are looking for somewhere peaceful, luxurious and relaxing Royal River is everything you could hope for. My husband & I just got back from 10 days at Royal River and all I can say is BOOK this hotel if you are considering it. I really hoped that the pictures on the website & instagram were accurate and they truly were!!!! This hotel is pure luxury in so many ways. From the moment you arrive in the stunning lobby you know it’s going to be beautiful! The grounds and setting are immaculate and beautiful - the plants, palms and little touches are perfect as are the furnishings, decor, and place settings in all the restaurants. We had a private pool room and it was perfect!!! Villa 36 was at the end of terrace and we had the sum from about midday till 5 pm - a real sun trap. We were spoiled for choice with all the beds, seats and tables to sit at by our pool. The room itself again was very high standard - huge bed, huge rain shower, dressing room and lounge area. The ladies who took care of our room did a fantastic job! On to the pool areas…. We spent our time at the top infinity pool which for the most part we had to ourselves. Stunning views of the mountains & the sea. Gorgeous snacks, cocktails and local wine to help our day go by. The food in The Pineapple restaurant was delicious, breakfast- totally spoiled for choice (as well as the buffet, you can ask for fresh cooked eggs & omelettes and any coffee you want. The food at The Top was mouth watering!!! We ate up there twice and tried lots on the menu. The view at night, the decor and most of all the staff were beyond impressive! Every single staff member we met we worked so hard, were so friendly & welcoming. Nancy, Cesar, Alejandro, Liugre, John (great cocktail maker), Alex, Manuel (had us laughing all the time) and many more. Take a walk or short taxi down to La Caletta the town for a beautiful seafront and little row of restaurants to try especially if you like seafood. Just a couple of things that would have been helpful at the start… it would have been good to know about the options at breakfast (we only realised a few days in we could order things). The only other thing was there was no nighttime entertainment but as we had such a nice room we often took a drink back and sat by our pool for a night cap. I have stayed in pretty amazing hotels around the world, but I can confidently say this one is now my favourite. I went for a few quiet chill days, and that's exactly what I got. The decor throughout is simply stunning; everywhere you look has been carefully considered. The background music at both pools was nice and relaxing. The food is truly spectacular and the service is second to none. And if all these compliments sound too cliche, go to stay there and find out for yourself. I am unsure if the photos online do it justice. I was hesitating whether I should book or not, as I was unsure about a few things, one of them being that I couldn't see a bar by the pool. I exchanged a few emails with them, and they covered all my concerns very well. They also replied incredibly quickly. So glad I decided to finally go. We went for 4 nights and stayed at a river villa on half board. We did not know that access to the spa circuit was included, so that was a welcome surprise. There is also no charge for room service, so you can easily stay in your room and order food and drinks. I am gutted I did not catch the name of the member of staff who was on room service duties, as he was super polite and friendly. Nancy at breakfast also looked after us like we were family. We stayed in Villa 24, which had direct sun from around midday and the whole afternoon, so it was totally perfect. Food at every single restaurant at the hotel was simply stunning; from breakfast to dinner. I could write about this hotel forever, but I would probably run out of superlatives. I hope to be back soon.

Absolutely perfect in every way. From the bell boy, reception staff, housekeeping, every member of staff is cheerful and helpful. The hotel is scrupulously clean. The housekeepers are very thorough and discreet. Peace and quiet is amazing here and the food and breakfast is lovely. I particularly liked the healthy options in the morning buffet and the room service which was not the usual french fries with everything at some hotels. We had a three bedroom villa overlooking the golf course. The pilates reformer was a great addition to the gym. This was our third visit to the Royal River and hopefully will not be our last. We had originally booked into a '5 Star' hotel down the road but the Royal river kindly came to our rescue when things didn't work out for us there. In my opinion this hotel should be 6 or 7 star.
