This hotel was purely magical. From the time you arrive til you depart. Very tropical and lush. The rooms are beautiful. Nice beds with lots of pillows. A huge shower with even an outdoor shower. The two boat tours were fun. Saw iguanas, sloths, monkeys, caimans, and more. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent. Many thanks to the waiters Gerard, and another but can’t remember his name. The guides Ronnie and Bonnie are amazing. The thins they spot in the trees! I did a night walk with Ricardo and got to see my first poison dart frog! Thank you so much everyone!

The structure is not bad, but the value for money is terrible. We stayed for two days at the Manatus Hotel. The property is not unattractive, and it’s fairly well maintained. The rooms are spacious and have two queen-size beds. The lighting in the rooms is designed for energy saving, and it’s awful, just like the lighting throughout the hotel, which is very inadequate. The tour guide, Ricardo, was excellent and took us along the river to see the animals. The restaurant staff, excluding Gerardo who was always kind and professional with us, was detached and lacking empathy. Especially the waiter in the restaurant who walked around like a bodybuilder, never smiled, and was cold and distant with us at all times. The front desk staff was always completely absent and asked us to vacate the room at 8:30 AM instead of the agreed time of 10:00 AM. The warm welcome we found in the beautiful country of Costa Rica was completely missing at this property, which has a terrible value-for-money ratio. We recommend they train the staff better and be much more welcoming to customers. More kindness and hospitality, less gym.

Manatus didn't disappoint. From the moment you are greeted by their staff, you feel at home and special. The grounds are groomed and landscaped beautifully. The room is very clean and each day the staff laid out fresh flowers and other displays in our room, that my wife loved. The entire staff was exceptional friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We received 3 meals per day, and the food was delicious. If you love nature and are looking for a quaint place this is the place to visit. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary here and can't wait to get back. Can't say enough about Manatus , and if you want to see wildlife their guides are top notch and when get you up close and personal with monkeys, sloths, crocs, birds and iguanas. We were there at the right time and even got to see baby sea turtles hatching and making their trek to the ocean, Incredible!

A beautiful hotel tucked away in the rainforest. Luis was our brilliant guide with Junior at the helm. We spent two trips finding sloths, cayman and crocodiles to name but a few. We also did a night walk with Ricardo who was great. We spotted a fer-de-lance just beside us! Manatus is a fabulous place to stay.

Unique hotel in the middle of river country. We loved it! There are only 12 rooms, four to a building with walkways in between. Each room had 2 queen beds and an outdoor shower as an option to the indoor one. The hotel is right on the river and it requires a 1 hour boat ride to get there. The service was exemplary. The staff was exceptionally helpful, particularly Eduordo and Ricardo who helped us order tickets to Tortuguero National Park. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was both private and family oriented.

This hotel is right on the river where you can only get somewhere by boat. You arrive by boat and travel and hour or so to this hotel. We stayed two nights, just our 2nd and 3rd in Costa Rica. Rooms , all the same, are spacious and the bathroom has an outside garden area with shower - which was so special. We did 3 boat excursions altogether - the first on our arrival afternoon was just across the water to the village on the Caribbean coast. Interesting little place siting on this vast sea turtle nesting beach. The spider monkeys put on a spectacular show for us there. Excursion the following morning was slow and magnificent. The wildlife we saw was endless and all we wanted - a sloth up close and so many iguana and caiman and so on too numerous to list. However excursion that afternoon was out of this world as it was raining we were able to see several turtles newly hatched make their torturous journey to the sea - 2 made it under our supervision good luck to them . This was a full board hotel (as there is nowhere else to go) and the meals were very pleasant and the service was excellent too.

A stunning setting at the edge of the national park. The lodges are all situated by the lagoon, the setting is great. The staff were all super helpful and very friendly. They made our stay. Our guide Louise was the best. We did 2 tours to see wildlife. We saw amazing birds, Iguanas, a Cayman, a sloth high up in a tree, a crocodile very briefly! But to see all of these animals in their natural habitat is a chance of a lifetime. My husband and son did the night tour to see the sea turtles on the beach and actually got to see a turtle laying eggs. It was a super special experience. There is also a lovely pool to cool off after doing your tours. The area can be a bit buggy at night though so best to cover up and use insect repellent. Overall is super experience and the boat trip out to the main road at the end was amazing fun also.
