The Waters Country House

Our weeks' stay at The Waters in Ballyvaughan was fantastic. Owners Wolfgang and Maria made us feel very welcome and it seemed more like staying in a family home than a guest house. Our room was super cosy. So were the library room and the games cum breakfast room. The breakfast fare was varied (still warm home made soda bread every morning), Irish breakfast, lots of fruit, croissants etc. There was even a little fridge for guests to put some stuff. We had dinner in our room a couple of times which Wolfgang kindly provided crockery and cutlery for. One could buy a bottle of wine, spirits, soft drinks or beer at the premises. It's a nice way to sit in the games room , fire lit by the owner, sip wine and chat with other guests. There was even a fresh water spring on the ground floor from which you could fill a thermos. We did lovely hikes, one from the hotel and ate at Monk's, the Fountain Bar and the Soda Parlour. The tea rooms were very expensive I must say. We really enjoyed our stay and were pleased to see that many visitors had been staying at The Waters more than once. Thank you

This is one of the most amazing places I've ever stayed, and my husband and I travel a lot. This is a hotel out in the Burren (a place I would recommend every traveller to Ireland visit for some of the most unique and incredible views you'll ever see). We were welcomed by our lovely hostess at the door, who showed us around the place, including to a well where they have a natural spring where you can dip your carafe and drink the most delicious and fresh water you've ever tasted. She showed us up to our room, which was lovely and overlooked some of the gorgeous countryside. The bathroom was huge, and well appointed (two sinks!) and the bed was comfy and we had a wonderful sleep. There was a storm outside that evening and we loved listening to the wind through the trees and the rain on the roof, and it lulled us right to sleep. The next morning breakfast was spectacular (the best breakfast we had in our 9-day stay in Ireland), and we were welcomed by our Italian host and had a great chat with him and one other traveller, who gave us some tips on what to see in the area. There was a ruin of a small abbey nearby that we went to see the night before, and it's absolutely beautiful, just down the road from this spot. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer in this place! I hope to be back again one day. Thank you from Canada for a WONDERFUL stay!
