Location was good for my needs the staff was friendly and accommodating, there plenty of restaurants nearby also a target store down the block if you forgot anything ( I didn’t bring a belt) easy on/off freeway access, they have vending machines on the property which I wouldn’t recommend very expensive $4 for a 20oz soda

I would like to say so many good things about this place!!! I LOVE IT!!! I travel to visit my family in LA (Van Nuys being exact) and many times I couldn’t go visit them as much as I wanted to do because I couldn’t find a NICE, SAFE and must important thing a CLEAN PLACE to stay in until in find The Sojourn. The first time I stayed there was with my partner and a couple of friends that came to visit us from out of country so I wanted to provide a nice place to stay and explore SoCal in peace, knowing that our belongings are going to be in a place where we could have some comfort and safety and I couldn’t have gotten any better than Sojourn 😍 David accommodate us the first time SHOUT OUT TO DAVID!!!!!!! He’s so so so nice, friendly, always with a smile on his face (we need more customer service like him). The rooms, clean, spacious, there were nothing wrong with the room. Excellent in all aspects!! Free breakfast in the morning, a little bit of everything. The common areas clean as well. Really quiet nights. Very safe outside and the area. We have stayed there about 3 times and let me tell you WE ARE NOT STAYING NOWHERE ELSE 👏🏽 👏🏽 SOJOURN ALL THE WAY 😄

The breakfast is the standard of an average American hotel, there are not many varieties, and you can have a full meal. The room bed is relatively large, equivalent to two small double beds. The parking lot is big enough without charge. The front desk was very polite. One of the female receptionists said that she had been to China and was very friendly to Chinese people. The hotel is close to Highway 405, it is convenient to travel if you rent a car, but Los Angeles has a large area and sparsely populated public transportation. One kilometer north of the hotel is Costco, two kilometers north there is a large Chinese supermarket with lots of food and cooked food. A little more than two kilometers south, there is a Whole Foods Marked food supermarket, but the fruits in American supermarkets are generally not fresh. The food around the hotel is also good, and the barbecue roll next door to the hotel is good. There is a Chinese restaurant opened by Hong Kong people next door, the taste is average. 9 9 There is a ”Sanhe” Cantonese restaurant next door to the Chinese Supermarket. There is a ”Huaguan” opened by a foreigner in Sherman Oaks Square, which sells fake Chinese food, which tastes very good.

The room looked nothing like the pictures and was old, outdated and dirty and there were two drunk and high guys below us who were yelling all night and got into a fistfight with each other. I couldn’t fall asleep until 4:30am

We live about ten blocks from the hotel. We stayed there when our power went out during the recent terrible heat wave. As you've heard from other reviews, the hotel is sleek and modern. It's like a Hollywood hotel plunked down in the middle of the Valley. More about that later. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The location is unexpectedly, subtly kind of great. It's a quick jump to the 101 freeway and anywhere you want to go in LA. But it's also got Hugo's Restaurant, beloved by many in LA, right across the street. Across the street from Hugo's is a futuristic Whole Foods, one of only two in the US where you can check out on your phone, without waiting in line (friendly people will show you how to do this). A few doors down from THAT is Gino's East Pizza, authentic deep-dish Chicago pizza and the only Gino's location in LA. Maybe the only one outside of Chicago itself. So all kinds of great food is a few steps from the hotel. This particular corner, Coldwater and Riverside, is getting hip and the Hotel Mariposa is the newest thing on the scene. Here's a couple of local tips: park on the street and save the $20 parking fee. Parking on Riverside is usually pretty easy. One morning we had to go to another block, but parking along Riverside freed up just after that. No way would we pay $20 to park in our neighborhood. They first gave us a room overlooking the 101 Freeway, which we didn't care for b/c it's right there. If you're out of town it might be a very LA thing to be looking out on our famous freeway, if that suits you. Anyway they were very understanding about moving us to another room. There is an outdoor seating area which again reminded me of Hollywood, but in miniature. The pool is tiny but the gym is new and terrific. If I couldn't be in my own home in LA, my second choice would be the Hotel Mariposa. Go there before everyone discovers it and ruins it.

Pretty good, very close to Universal Studios, eating is convenient, front desk service is very good. The key is parking is free, just near the high speed, where to go is very close, and there is a Sichuan restaurant nearby is very good. Public comment can be found

The EL Patio is here to get your money, and they get it any way they can. I had a horrendous experience at this motel. I don’t like the fact that I am about to lead into what they may interpret as trash talk, I assure you I am being completely honest. This was a bad experience and I solely blame the way this place is run and cared for. My reaction is completely justified, and I write this now to protect others from falling into this trap. Recently, the electricity was shut off at my apartment for a few days. One of those days, my partner and I decided we wanted to stay at a small hotel for the evening. We live nearby the El Patio, and we thought it looked kinda cute on the outside. It looks like an older motel, set back on a rectangular lot. They advertised having a free breakfast online which helped sell me on renting the room there, but after my credit card had cleared, and I received my non refundable room booking confirmation, in the fine print it stated that this rental did not include breakfast. False advertising if you ask me. Check in is at 3pm and check out time is 11am which is not a bad time for check out, but the people who run the El Patio, were knocking at our unit door at around 10:20 to see if we were done with the room yet. It wasn’t done in a friendly way. There is a sign in the office that states that they can charge up to $300 for a deposit which is well over the amount that all amenities present are worth. The deposit is not given back at check out, they hang onto it for three to seven days. During those three to seven days it’s to be assumed they detail your room after you leave and decide how much to take out of it. My singular experience of this process wasn’t a great one. They did take money out of the deposit, even though everything was left in the same condition when we arrived and charging people $50 to $75 for a small spot on the cheapest thinnest towels I’ve ever seen, is the complete opposite of what a hotel is supposed to be offering. Hospitality and relaxation are two wonderful things good hotels provide, this is definitely a motel, that even other reviewers have reviewed being hostile, cheap, overpriced, and uninviting. The rooms are maybe 300 square feet with two uncomfortable queen sized beds or a king bed, all with a uncomfortable thin polyester comforter and two small cheap unfluffy pillows, a small cheap table with two equally cheap flimsy looking chairs, single night stand and a very cheap and smaller lcd television hooked to the wall. The television has weak sound and is not a smart tv, the model is very dated but does have hdmi hook ups available for your devices or computer. There are three WiFi signals for each side of the hotel lot and all three signals are described on my computer as ‘weak risky insecure signals.’ After a few minutes of using their signal, I disconnected due to slowness, signal brown outs and the worry of security of my devices and used my own cell signal instead.
