According to what I've read, the third floor of the inn started out as a gambling hall and ******* and was parted out into rooms later. We also heard that it is supposedly haunted. Our room was 219. Interesting features: no house phone; the bathroom is tiny, but works. You cannot be really fat to use it, though, the shower is about 2.5' x 2.5'. We think the bathroom was added in a remodel, there is a 4” step up into it and it is a big trip hazard. I would recommend reflective tape or lights or something, both my husband and I woke in the night and nearly killed ourselves tripping on it. (They have warnings all over the place about it but at 2:30 am who remembers that on the way to the toilet?). The closet has a deadbolt which you have to be INSIDE the closet to use. The bed has a pillow top on the mattress, but it is still rock hard. Hotel might look into memory foam for the beds, most of us are spoiled on those now. Woke at 11:30, some guy was talking. We drifted off, woke at 2:30 am, guy was STILL TALKING. We think he was talking to somebody else but couldn't hear anything distinct. Room 220, we thought he was in your room. We tapped on the wall. He didn't shut up. My husband pounded on the wall. He continued to talk. I dressed and headed upstairs to knock on the door above us as my husband thought sound was traveling through old air conditioning ducts. On the way I heard my husband bellow ”SHUT THE F**K UP!' We apologize for the language. When I arrived at the room I thought was above us I heard the toilet flush. There was no more talking. So, room 220, if you thought it was a ghost, it wasn't. We choose this place because we needed a hotel to stay at that we knew had truck park near Port Hueneme. Although they don't actually have truck parking...we park on the side street and had to walk a bit to the hotel. Which was fine. I feel like best western tried to crew me over on this trip. On the best western website it stated one night started at 140. But when I talked to the clerk he was able to get it down to 124 that night. I'm thankful of. Unfortunately the clerk did not recognize that we were a rewards members and didnt give us anything like best western do. Most just give you free water. The room was nice and clean very spacious for just one queen bed. Bed was comfortable. Shower was nice. Water pressure was good with hot water. Breakfast was from 6-9am. They hot waffels...oatmeal..yogurt. yummy hot food like eggs.. bacon...sausage and potatoes it was a nice stay
It's very close to Ole. I stayed for one night during a road trip. It was very convenient. The standard is not very high, but it is clean and hygienic. It is a good choice to spend the night.
Best western is a very good quality hotel chain with a full range of facilities, including a restaurant, laundry, gym, and free parking. The entire trip lived 5 to 6 Best western, and overall there was no disappointment. The only downside is that the air conditioning sound is too loud, but this seems to be a common problem in American hotels. This restaurant is small in size but the waiter is warm. The location of the hotel is hard to find, and it looks a bit old compared to other Best western. About 10 minutes drive from Camarillo Outlet.
The façade of the hotel is in harmony with the outlets on the opposite side, with pale yellow walls and orange roofs. The first floor is the front desk and breakfast room. The room size is good and the facilities meet the standards. It is very convenient to walk in front of the door. Drive to the outlet for 5 minutes, it will be more difficult to pass without a car. The shortcoming of the hotel is that the breakfast variety is a little bit less, the others are good.
Was expecting better for some fleeting reason but the experience was worse this time around. The managent used to be tops up until early 2021 but the manager and desk staff are cold as well as verbally innappropriate. I was so SHOCKED by the negativity and awful behavior from a larger younger woman on shift before 7am who after some nasty, totally unnecessary words to my pleasant attitude, stared at me via the office as I was leaving. She can deny it but if there's audio & video no there's heed to report her. Doing so wouldn't matter anyway. Stayed at some far worse (local) 6s and I thought (or hoped) I'd be more comfortable but... surprise! There's more but just the worst of it is being noted here. Sometimes I suspect these hotels or any other business mistreats people for the entertainment, and drama of it but its a bad trend that affects them more than the consumer, who will choose to go somewhere else and talk about what happened. Why sue them? lol just don't go back. Probably shouldn't mention this and it may not be true but I heard this hotel is planning on removing the microwaves and fridges. The Lake is nice but you have to feel safe and professionally treated by the establishment you've paid to much money to. Unreal. She had a a mask on but I heard her loud and clear, but you usually see the attitude good or bad. An average person just wants a safe place to stay with no one bothering them or unwanted grief.
Overall good and would stay here again. Not really anything near buy but there is a gas station. Breakfast was good and to the point for a complimentary breakfast
If you are on a budget, looking for a no-frills place to stay in the Oxnard/Camarillo/Ventura area, this hotel would be hard to beat for the price. Pool was small but clean, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. No continental breakfast here, but there are many places to eat neary. Gas stations also nearby.

GGuest UserWe had a funeral in Ojai and found the rates there exorbitant. Santa Paula was very nearby, so we checked the hotels there out. The Glen Tavern Inn was very reasonable, and, as a bonus, an historic property. Built in early 1900s, it was near the train station and became a mecca for Hollywood celebrities including John Wayne, Carole Lombard, Houdini and Rin-Tin-Tin, among others. The new owners, btw, are not sure which rooms they stayed in, except that Rin-Tin-Tin stayed in a suite. Downstairs is an Italian restaurant (new) but the lobby/front desk look right for the Craftsman era. There are framed movie posters, newspapers (Titanic Sinks) and photos on the walls in every hall. The third floor has a salon on the stair landing with sofas. The place is really quite charming with few drawbacks. Parking is in the back. The hotel sign on the street corner is obscured by trees, hard to find. We happened to arrive on a weekend where a number of streets were blocked off for a classic car show. The show was great but it was hard to find the hotel because of the blocked off roads. The hotel apologized for the confusion. ABOUT ROOM 220: First, we retired at 9:30, having had a very long drive.
