Nothing more critical than anything else 😂 Breakfast didn't go to eat. There is basically no room for breakfast. It can only be said to be a snack. The swimming pool is not big. The first floor is quite noisy. The children are very noisy in the corridor. It is recommended to live on a higher floor.
Average accommodations... average all around the board, with the exceptions of the view, which was slightly above average. The construction going on across the street evened out the above average score of the view. The dog walk was a sawed off gravel boche ball pit with a shovel and rusted out garbage...but at least they are dog friendly. At night you can hear the crashing of the waves ever so slightly drowned out by the sounds of transients singing (and smoking) jimmy Crack corn....but at least you don't have to pay for the show. Unfortunately you do have to pay for the room which was way overpriced (and undersized) for what you get. The location, however, is perfect if you want to be close to restaurants and the boardwalk.
This resort/conference grounds is in a great location, and has extensive walking paths through the woods (make sure you know what poison oak looks like!). My husband and I like our longs walks so that part was nice, although the trails are not well marked. However, the room was very small---no place to sit except the bed--and smelled like very old funky carpet. For the price we were very disappointed in the room. Mini fridge was provided, but no microwave--very inconvenient not to be able to even heat up a cup of coffee. They offered to rent me a microwave for $15/day!! Seems very unreasonable, especially because the restaurant on-site was only open for dinner. Luckily town was only a 10 minute drive away. We also had a terrible experience in their supposedly ”nice” restaurant. Terrible service, food was bland, and when they brought our bill she handed us TWO tickets--she had rung up someone else's dinners on my credit card in addition to ours! Wouldn't you notice when you handed someone two credit card bills at one table? The staff did not seem very concerned about this at all (maybe they make mistakes like that frequently??). Very shabby treatment. I lived in Santa Cruz for 10 years some time ago, and I know the property has been there a very long time---they think the have a reputation as 'top-shelf' resort in the area, but I would definitely disagree.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our two night stay; our 4th floor room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the large walk-in shower and the fact that we could open the window. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room and lobby are bright and spacious. The hotel is close to a number of our favorite Santa Cruz destinations. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We stayed her for one night to visit a family member in the area. The Rio Vista Inn was very close to the beach; we just parked and started walking. We were at the Boardwalk in 5 minutes, so it is super convenient. We had Room 8 on the second floor and it was very cozy (which means very small). It fit our needs perfectly, but if you plan to stay more than one night, I would suggest a bigger room. Also, park in the main lot as the overflow lot was very hard to get out of. Loved the free drinks (water, soda, coffee). There was a gas fireplace in the room, which was a nice touch. Also had robes in the closet and a mini refrigerator in the room. WiFi was strong. The Victorian home is very charming and I would definitely stay here again for another quick trip to Santa Cruz.

The hotel location is a bit far from downtown, but it is close to the natural bridge park by the sea. It is convenient to walk to watch the sunrise in the morning. The hotel offers free parking, a generous breakfast, fruit oats, Waffle, everything. The price is a little expensive. Fortunately, it is a business meeting, the hotel service is good, the hardware facilities are quite complete, the pool, sauna, gym are all available, it is a good choice for business travel.

Very Good
LLIHONGDue to the temporary change of travel needs to stay, find a few places are full of room, the sky is already black, just grab one, just have a place to sleep, compared to the previous accommodation, this is expensive and poor cost-effective. The only thing that left a good impression was that the small restaurant next to it was good and the dishes tasted good.
Our family (2 adults, a ten year old and an eleven year old) stayed at the SeaSide Inn & Suites for one night in August 2023 The room was huge with 2 x queen beds and plenty of space to walk around. Whilst basic, it was very clean, spacious and well equipped. I can’t speak highly enough of the owner/manager - Mr Anand Shah. He was polite, helpful and more than happy to share his tips on the main attractions in Santa Cruz. He also gave us a recommendation to the Special Noodle restaurant which was exceptional I would certainly stay here again if ever returning to Santa Cruz
GGuest UserMy family was doing vacation on a limited budget and the Hitching Post fit the bill. Sheri, the owner, was an excellent hostess. The room was one of the cleanest hotel rooms ever. My son struggles with contamination OCD and nothing freaked him out about this room. Yes, it is an older hotel but it is well maintained. Drawbacks for some travelers would be breakfast is not included and there are limited restaurant options. However, our double full-size room had a microwave and fridge. We always bring food with us so this was not a problem. It located about to miles from the turnoff for the north rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Since one has to drive a good distance between the north and south rims, this was an ideal place to spend one night.
HHeroOfAgesBeing across the street from the Boardwalk, beach, and a short walk to the wharf was a plus. Also, it was the least expensive option we were able to find that would accommodate our family of 5 on short notice (booked about 3 weeks prior). Staff was polite and helpful. The accommodations though were not so good. You can feel the wire springs on the beds. Overall conditions of the walls, floors, windows, ceiling, bathroom showed a lot of poorly installation & repaired damage. Electrical, plumbing, appliances worked fine and we all slept well, but the place really needs a detailed remodel.
ZZachary MUpon arriving, the front office had a bad smell. When we got to the room, the fridge, microwave, and blowdryer did not work. After mentioning it to the front desk, they waited until the next day to replace the fridge; so the food we brought with us went bad from being left out over night. The flooring was sloppy and there were gaps around the doorways, and we had to hang a blanket on the window because it only had a see through shade on it with no blinds or curtains. The WiFi was slow and sometimes went completely out. When I called the front desk about it, he hung up on me and gave me no further information. Additionally, housekeeping only serviced our room once during our 5 night stay, leaving us with dirty towels for most of the time. The parking situation was rough and some nights we would get back and there would be no open spots. Finally, their website states that they include free breakfast and have a pool, however this is completely false. There is no pool or breakfast and when I asked about it the front desk just said that their website has had out of date information for 2 years. This place has a lot of potential as it is in a good location and at face value the rooms aren't bad at all. They just have a lot of issues with amenities, information, and staff that need to be worked out. Overall not worth it especially considering the price and would recommend looking for a different place to stay in Santa Cruz.
Great staff, good location, and renovated. We went another family and we were all pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The staff was great. They got us rooms together and proceeded to give us some beers for staying with them. Hotel is a 10 min walk to boardwalk. The rooms were nice. Beds comfortable. Bathroom nothing special but functional. Little patio to hang out along side a small putting green. This is not a high end Hyatt but if you are looking for a good value hotel, this is one is hard to beat.
SSHULet me remind you that this hotel has no door, so you can't put things in the car when parking, it is very unsafe, there is no door, there is no doorman and hotel administrator. I just lost my stuff and put it in the car. There may be outsiders like the tramp entering this parking lot. The hotel room is near the curb, my room is on the curb, so. The noise is there and the room is small. The beds are very good, the beds are large, there are coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators. The facilities are relatively complete. The bathrooms have high water pressure and the baths are comfortable. Hotel facilities are too old. Cleaning service is normal. The help desk can also basically answer your questions. My only bad experience is that the things I put in the car have been stolen, and I still report it to the local police station. I asked to return the room without consent.

TTodemmyAll kinds of dryland plants! Tickets $5 to enter from the door outside the school. This size is a lot of lonely in the United States. Many of the plants introduced in Australia and Africa are mainly promoting these dryland plants for the current drought conditions in California.
Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center

Natural Bridges State Beach
3358***33The seafront extends into the sea with a mountain by the sea, with a hollow running through the middle of the mountain, making it look like a natural bridge, taking pictures of the beautiful background.
Lighthouse Field State Beach
Ccoo***anThe park is on both sides of the road. To the left is the ocean and the beach and to the right are fields for running, walking, walking you dog, etc!!! Very beautiful area and it was full of butterflies today!!!!!! The beach was active and the waves were huge!!! Cool place along W. Cliff Dr.!!!!!
Seymour Marine Discovery Center
TTodemmyGreat activities for young people! We visited here on our trip from LA to SF. We were not disappointed! This is a smaller university research center with cheerful volunteers and students eager to help us experience marine life! There was an interactive "search and draw" which delighted our 5 year old daughter who found all the answers and our 2 year old son who was busy trying to keep up with her, and there were magnifying glasses hanging over the jellyfish tanks. The whale skeleton is huge and the views of Monterey Bay are amazing, be careful on the trails over the cliffs!
