This 102 yr old home, now B&B, was the perfect experience. From meeting us at the car and carrying our bags in, to all the amenities, to the great menu choices for breakfast, the friendly tips on places to go, where to eat diner, it was wonderful. The rooms were beautiful wood paneled luxury. Tastefully decorated and furnished. Within 10 minute walk to downtown. Quiet. Plenty of parking. Literally perched over the ocean. No A/C wasn’t a problem…the ever present ocean breeze was all that was needed . The sound of waves gently breaking below our room led to blissful sleep. Highly recommend. Grab the largest room if available…includes a cozy nook for relaxing.
The hotel is so beautiful, there is a large internal area, you need to drive from the iron gate for ten minutes, along the beautiful road, there are small wild boars on the road, next to the waterfall, there is a waterfall behind the hotel room, only for internal residents , You can swim and boat in the pond under the waterfall, and you can also participate in their rich activities such as climbing from the waterfall or visiting their farm. Breakfast is delicious. We did not have the opportunity to have dinner. It is said that it is their chef’s no-menu dinner. They use fresh ingredients from their own farm, which is a little regrettable. I highly recommend it. I will stay a few more days next time.

For only one night, we booked a room with breakfast, breakfast has two packages to choose from, depending on personal preference. Hotel facilities are slightly old, and the room and bathroom are slightly cramped. The surrounding environment is OK.
Facilities: There are no new hotels with good facilities in Hilo on the east side of the Big Island. The hotels with good facilities are in Kona on the west side. I stayed in Hilo for the convenience of going to Volcano National Park. It takes 2 more hours to go from Kona to Volcano National Park in the east.
Hygiene: To be honest, it’s OK
Environment: The surrounding hardware conditions are also average. The overall hardware construction in Hilo is relatively old. It’s dark at night and there are few street lights.
Service: OK. If you don’t order a breakfast-included room, you will get a breakfast voucher. The breakfast is just simple bread and coffee to satisfy your stomach.
Hilton brand used to be my hotel of choice. After some very disappointing stays toward the end of Covid I decided I was switching to anything but Hilton. I should have stuck with my commitment. As the previous poster said our room ($350) was very small. The corridors were old and dingy. When I walked into the room I went to look out the window and there was a view of a rooftop, a large dumpster of trash and a delapidated building with graffiti. In fact there are several abandoned buildings surrounding the property so the area isn’t great. They still don’t have daily housekeeping. I have been in Hawaii for 10-days now and my other hotels all had daily cleaning and it was excellent. There is no excuse for Hilton to not being this service back. That is a key reason people like to stay at hotels vs VRBOs. Hilton is putting the savings in their own pocket as their rates haven’t been adjust to reflect the significant reduction in service. Luckily we are only staying one night. The checkin was nice and the agent was friendly. The grounds (toward the water) were nice. I also agree with the other poster as I question why a resort fee at this property. If you get an ocean view room and don’t mind the lack of maid service then you should be ok. Definitely don’t stay in the odd numbered rooms in the ancillary building or you will view the ghetto.
What a gem. This place is clean, cool, restful, a tropical oasis. And a great base to explore all that the east side of the big island has to offer… which is a lot. Easy 5 min walk into town with all its restaurants, coffee shops, museums etc. Yet removed from the hubbub. Spacious, cool (great crossbreeze, despite the lack of AC), even had a TV that got the Olympics which we were psyched about. Friendly and knowledgable staff who gave us great tips. Will stay at Dolphin Bay again for sure!

Liliʻuokalani Gardens
__TI***x6Such a good place to go and just relax and enjoy the beauty of Hilo. Always clean lots of picnic tables restrooms and beachfront area.
Pacific Tsunami Museum
Llove is blueRelatively modest admission fee. I was impressed that the museum's focus deepened the fear of earthquakes. It did. Although this phenomenon is relatively rare in nature, if you meet once, you are either not ready or you don't know what's happening, it floats over. Overall, I did learn some information that I didn't know before, mainly about how technology effectively provides early warning systems for the path of early earthquakes. However, as the narrator says, if an earthquake occurs close to the coastline, residents living in lower areas are more likely to be struck by it.
Wailuku River State Park
东东张西望望东西It was the flowering season, and there were many flowers blooming everywhere in the state park. This is a large park with many tropical plants, green trees, birdsong and flowers, giving people a particularly relaxing and comfortable feeling.
