Perfect
When booking our room it stated Newly Remodeled - Upgraded Bedding. What a disappointment. Our curtains wouldn't close we had to use a hair clip to keep them closed, holes in bathroom wall, stains on bed covers and a big red stain on ceiling, the bottom drawer on the dresser was broken and the door would not close unless you pushed it shut. We had to have the Attendant come and mop the floors as they were sticky and my socks were filthy within 3 minutes of walking on the newly tiled floors. When they say Newly Remodeled they mean new flooring and new paint. Upgraded Bedding it stated, these new beds are hard as a rock. TV system is antiquated. You have to scroll up and down to find the TV menus which you cannot look at and then select the channel. What a joke. You get what you pay for. Breakfast, well don't get me started there. No fresh fruit, milk sitting out on the counter not in ice. No Protein. Just a sad experience.
The Fairfield Inn, Cambridge, Ohio was a very good property. It does sit off of the highway and the road to get there was dark not well lit when we arrived in the evening. But overall, the food was great at the breakfast area. Our rooms were well kept clean and decent. We would stay at this hotel again when in the area.
First the good: My ”King Studio” room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked well. Also, they let me check in early, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was good. That's about it. The not-so-good: I knew they were in the process of remodeling, but at $175 for one night mid-week in a non-metropolitan area, I had hopes of getting a room that had been refurbished. Not so much! The room was quite worn, with abundant dings and nicks. The lighting was very poor--something for which there should be no excuse in this age of inexpensive LED bulbs. (Guests who do not like a brightly lit room can just use fewer lamps.) The breakfast area was in really bad shape, with nicked-up furniture and bench seating with large rips. Also, at check-in time they did not offer me any snacks as a gold Hhonors member. Hampton Inns have been my ”go-to” hotels for quite a while, but the next time I need to stay overnight in Cambridge, I'll have to consider other options.
Avoid if fragrance sensitive. I entered the room and was overwhelmed by incense like perfume fragrance. It took many hours of running fan to remove the odor. I am sure the hotel though it was a welcome smell. I was solo had my asthma suffering partner been with me we would have need to immediately leave to keep her out of the hospital. Otherwise the room was clean, smallish typical for mictotel. Breakfast was fine.
The room was to perfection. The staff was just very sweet, let us enjoy the breakfast far beyond the breakfast time. The room looked like it was newly renovated. Shining sheets and covers, vanity was on point, nice view from the top, feels really good after a long drive. Totally recommend this place.
