Worst experience in staying in independent accommodation. Left in the rain for 1 hour. Tried 18 calls not answered A very unpleasant man turned up and yelled at us in Italian. We felt very intimidated. When we went out we believe someone entered the room and turned off all lights and heating. Nice room but it’s in an apartment not a hotel like pictures make you believe. Next morning 1/2 hour before check out we returned back and the angry man was waiting for us. Yelling about lights left on. This was a small bathroom light we’d missed when we went for a walk. He virtually threw us out of the hotel. Standing in front of the bedroom window making us very uncomfortable. Very very unpleasant stay.

My experience at Evodia Luxury Rooms was truly exceptional. Despite our late arrival at 1:15 AM, the staff greeted us warmly and made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. They were incredibly attentive throughout our stay, offering detailed advice on how to get around quickly and suggesting fantastic dining options in the area. Upon arrival, they welcomed us with a refreshing drink, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture after a long journey. The attention to detail didn’t stop there; the breakfast each morning was delightful, with a variety of fresh and delicious options that set the perfect tone for the day. The combination of outstanding service, helpful recommendations, and a welcoming atmosphere made our stay at Evodia Luxury Rooms an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special place to stay.

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

Aspetti positivi: L'aspetto green della struttura, attenta all'ambiente. La possibilità di utilizzare una macchinetta del caffè condivisa. Aspetti negativi: 1. SCARSA OSCURAZIONE: La persiana non è oscurante e manca una tenda adeguata, quindi la luce entra già dalle prime ore del mattino, disturbando il riposo. 2. NO COMFORT DEL LETTO: Il letto è piccolo per due persone e rigido, nonostante un topper. Quest'ultimo è realizzato in un materiale plasticoso che risulta poco confortevole e irritante. 3. BAGNO: Il bagno è ricavato direttamente nella stanza, separato solo da una porta scorrevole esterna difficile da aprire e chiudere, con privacy pressoché inesistente (VEDI FOTO) 4. ASSENZA DI ARMADIO: Non è presente un armadio, ma solo un appendiabiti in un angolo della stanza, scomodo per organizzare gli indumenti (VEDI FOTO) 5. PROBLEMI DI CLIMATIZZAZIONE: Abbiamo soggiornato a ottobre 2024, e la stanza (n. 6) era fredda. Il condizionatore non funzionava adeguatamente e il riscaldamento non era ancora attivo. 6. PARCHEGGIO : La stanza affacciava su una strada rumorosa, rendendo difficile il riposo, e il parcheggio in zona è difficoltoso da trovare. 7. INSONORIZZAZIONE ASSENTE: La struttura non garantisce insonorizzazione interna. Le porte e le finestre sono prive di qualsiasi isolamento acustico, e si sentono i rumori provenienti da altre stanze e dal personale della struttura, che non rispetta gli orari di silenzio e dagli altri eventuali ospiti presenti. 8.PHON ROTTO E PERICOLOSO: Il phon della stanza era rotto e pericoloso, con parti aperte da cui fuoriuscivano fili (vedi foto) 9. ASSENZA DI SERVIZI AGGIUNTIVI: La struttura è un affittacamere senza colazione e senza reception (check-in e check-out sono da remoto), offrendo un’esperienza impersonale, quindi si consiglia di valutare anche tale aspetto nella valutazione della convienza. CONCLUSIONE: Soggiorno deludente. La struttura è rigida negli orari e manca di flessibilità o attenzione verso il cliente. Non è consigliata, poiché non offre il minimo comfort e le carenze strutturali e gestionali non sono compensate né dalla cortesia né dalla disponibilità del personale.
