Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband. Great communication from Karen prior to arrival. We were greeted warmly on arrival, checked in smoothly and then shown to our room (Granary). The room was nicely furnished and the bed was extremely comfy. The bonus for me was the whirlpool bath, as I only have a shower at home, so a relaxing soak was very much appreciated! Karen was staggering breakfast times to ensure the dining room didn't get too crowded. Breakfast itself was fab, many options on offer including cereals, cooked breakfast, muffins, toast and even a Mexican omelette affair. Both Chris and Karen were extremely helpful and approachable, recommending a restaurant for our 2nd night's evening meal. Although the farmhouse is now surrounded by a housing estate, it has plenty of parking on site, a lovely garden and feels almost 'countrified'. Would definitely book again if we stay in the area in future.
The location is super! Opposite is a big supermarket! The hotel is very British! Hygiene and clean! The hotel staff is very good! The needs raised will be met! The price is right too! Will go live in the future!

I booked a deluxe double room for just one night. We were very happy with our room, which was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows.
The welcome from Reception was warm and friendly.
There is parking at the hotel but this is run by NCP and costs just under £10 for a 24 hour stay. Payment is via an APP so I suggest installing that on your phone before you arrive. There is not the option to pay by cash or card at the machine.
The hotel itself is very charming, with individually decorated bedrooms and a host of period features and furniture in the public rooms. We were meeting my son for dinner in a nearby restaurant for dinner so cannot comment on the Dining Room and we opted out of breakfast as we had an early lunch arranged. We did enjoy some cocktails in Brazz, where the service and quality of the drinks were appreciated.
We stayed for two nights in room no.1. the hotel was easy to find but be careful of the traffic as you enter the narrow side entrance. The private car park is £5/night...I don't like having to pay when I am a guest but maybe it keeps prices down. Large cars beware of the exit...very tight and evidence of many scrapes. Speak to Reception who may have an alternative exit. But the welcome was warm and friendly, our room clean and bright with the usual facilities. The staff really did treat all the guests we saw in a friendly and cheerful manner. We had dinner and the food, service and wine were very good. Breakfast was also of a high standard. Situated close to the town centre the hotel is ideally placed and priced. We would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.
Let me start off by stating that Meg and her team are fantastic. I stay here quite regularly for work. The staff are friendly and will go the extra mile to make your stay more welcoming . It has a kitchen where you can cater for yourself always clean and tidy The rooms are well cleaned by housekeeping she does an amazing job 100% worth the value for the money for me this is a 5* review wouldn't stay anywhere else when I come to Taunton
We made a last-minute booking and the hotel were so great in accommodating us. The reception was easy to find and we were greeted warmly by Erin. We had to make another booking the same night to accommodate another family-member and Erin was a great sport in giving us adjoining rooms and relocating us upstairs, including helping with all our suitcases and bags. The level of service here is akin only to what I've experienced in the Caribbean. A true care and warmth with a willingness to go above and beyond unasked. For this I give them an A+. The premise of community support and involvement is admirable and training up of youthful staff, grooming them in truly 5-star service standards is definitely welcomed! Other hotels would do to learn from them! In the morning of our departure, our things were whisked downstairs, again with a genuine joy in helping. We didn't get everyone's names, but our gratitude to Erin, Maisie, Alex and so many more who made difficult personal time for us into a comfortable, relaxing one. Loved the rotation of cookies daily and replenishment of assorted teas. My only advice would be for them to place non-skid bath mats in the shower trays and to install handrails, but otherwise, there is little to be faulted. We look forward to returning in the future!

I cannot imagine what the few nay-sayers here expect for £65 per night, including breakfast. This is a clean, comfortable, modern hotel with friendly, welcoming staff. Parking is easy. The rooms are well-equipped and a wide range of toiletries are provided, free of charge, if needed. The rooms are air conditioned and secure. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are cleaned daily. The location is quiet at night and the curtains are blackout. I slept well. The bar is well stocked and there is plenty of room. The breakfast buffet, has fruit, porridge, innumerable cereals, toast, fruit compote, yoghurt, muffins, croissants, hot bacon, beans, sausages and scrambled eggs. The hot food was well prepared. There is a range of tea, coffee and fruit juice. There is plenty of seating and the tables are cleaned and sanitised throughout. There is a large, accommodating, reasonably-priced pub next door with a good menu for evening meals. In all I would recommend this hotel.
Male at check in could not have been more miserable, uninviting and hated life more if he tried. After grunting his way through the booking and sliding a piece of paper to sign and then sliding the key to me I wasnt quite sure if we had finished the transaction as there was no guidance from himself. I said are we all done and as he grunted at me I assumed we were there so I left to find the room. The room was on the ground floor. Bathroom was grotty and the flush just poured out water for half an hour a time every time it was used. Bed was small. Room was dated. Phone was dirty and covered in whatever finger juice had congealed over many years. The carpet was threadbare. The room was an embarrassment to be fair. Went into the bar to get food. Asked for the tablet, the member of staff was busy swearing with the ”regulars” and I felt as though I was causing her problems but she obliged. Ordered a Magners via the tablet, an Astril was dumped on the bar. I left it as that wasnt my order, then was barked at by another woman that was my drink ”but she was too busy to bring it over”, granted there were 2 people at the bar at the time. I said I didnt order that, she told me I had, I assured her I hadnt, then lo and behold they apparently had no Magners so I took the Astril for ease. The food was a pizza which in reality was a burnt base with some mush chucked on. Horrible. Back to the room, good sleep. Breakfast in the morning. No knives, no beans. 2 members of staff having a yap, interrupted them and got what was needed, they went back to yapping. Check out the food and everything was sorted by the company. The receptionist told me it wasn't. I asked her to check as I knew it was, she said I have but I will check again. She told me no the company dont cover it. I assured her they do and this time showed her the booking. She called someone else over who told her to bill the company if thats what i wanted. I left and then they proceeded to moan about me not accepting that the booking was not including food so I had to return and have more of the same conversation. As a diamond elite member this hotel is an embarrassment to the brand. The staff are rude. The rooms are inadequate and dated and the check in and check out process is shambolic at best. Need to do better. Wont be staying there again.

Perfect
GGuest UserI have stayed at the New Barn B&B, just for 1 might, for the first time in July and it was very good indeed. Good facilities – plenty in the tea and coffee making tray, comfortable bed, beautifully clean bathroom with all provisions. The bedroom and all ‘public’ rooms were well presented and very clean. Julie ( the host) is very friendly and most helpful and accommodating. To top it all there is the really splendid ‘full English’ breakfast freshly cooked for you – unlike the big hotels. It can be difficult to find but use Google Maps and, especially Street View, and you will find the lane leading to this B&B. It is a useful location for touring this area but also as a good overnight stopover en route to Devom and Cornwall. All in all, highly recommended.
GGuest UserI booked a deluxe double room for just one night.
GGuest UserI cannot imagine what the few nay-sayers here expect for £65 per night, including breakfast.
TThe_Concierge_8We made a last-minute booking and the hotel were so great in accommodating us.
GGuest UserMy husband and I visited for dinner last evening, and here is my take: My husband’s starter of salad with chicken and bacon was very good but my choice of Brixham crab cake ran into trouble; I got no taste of crab whatsoever and so I asked how much crab should be included in the recipe. The waitress assured me she would ask the chef and the answer was that as no delivery of crab had arrived that day, then my “crab cake” was actually a plain fish cake She removed the cost of this from my bill. I felt very sorry for her having to front a significant error made by the chef who had failed to communicate with her and allowed the menu to go out either through pressure or arrogance. Mains were pleasant but underwhelming; my husband’s pan fried cod on saffron mash was not very flavourful and my ballotine of chicken was just short of disappointing. Our shared pudding of lemon meringue pie on raspberry coulis was pretty good. The waitress was very charming and not at all defensive in this awkward situation regarding the “ no crab “ crab cake ; entirely the fault of the chef. We were not charged for the fish cake but when the bill arrived we were charged for both an extra glass of wine and a plate of mussels neither of which we had The poor waitress explained that someone had sat at our table earlier that day and their bill had unfortunately been added to ours. This was resolved and we added a 10% tip solely because we were impressed by and sorry for the delightful waitress. Sorry chef but even Wivey locals can spot a “no crab “crab cake
GGuest UserMale at check in could not have been more miserable, uninviting and hated life more if he tried.
RrogertB1963KYWe stayed for two nights in room no.1. the hotel was easy to find but be careful of the traffic as you enter the narrow side entrance.
TTash ALet me start off by stating that Meg and her team are fantastic. I stay here quite regularly for work. The staff are friendly and will go the extra mile to make your stay more welcoming .
