I was staying with a friend in a twin room for two nights, to visit a member of the Starlight Express cast, the Hotel is perfectly situated right next door to the Theatre. The Reception Staff were very welcoming and our room was esy to find, using a lift. The room itself was very clean, spacious and airy (it was a very hot weekend). Water (both Still & Sparkling), was provided. The bed was very comfortable and bedding crisp and clean. Bathroom was fine with a good Shower. Room would be improved by supplying Tea & Coffe making facilites and an extra mirror, as good mirrors in bathroom and one full ength on Bathroom door, but the room could de with another mirror in the main room, so that two people can get ready at the same time. The Breakfast was really good, with an excellent choice of Continental, with a smaller choice of cooked, but excellent all around and the Coffee was very good. The Courtyard area is a lovely area for coffee or a Cocktail and the restaurant staff were really friendly, professional, with all staff speaking English. I hope to be staying again next year- thank you very much team H!

GGuest UserViel Schatten, wenig Licht es gibt in diesem Hotel zwei verschiedene Kategorien: Standard und Superior wir hatten Superior gebucht. Am Samstag bei Anreise wurden wir sofort gebeten, die Zimmerrechnung zu bezahlen. Das ist ungewöhnlich, aber ok. Als wir dann das Zimmer betraten, stellen wir fest, dass wir eine falsche Kategorie bekommen hatten. Also zurück zur Rezeption. Die junge Dame war völlig überfordert und bestätigte, dass wir ein Standardzimmer bekommen hatten und kein Superior. Sie holte sich Hilfe bei Herrn F. Welche Funktion er hat, wissen wir nicht. er hat sich nicht vorgestellt. Allerdings schaute er in den Computer und sagte, dass er jetzt am Samstag Abend nichts mehr tun könne, das Hotel sei ausgebucht. Als Kompensation und Entschädigung würde er uns für den folgenden Morgen zum Frühstück einladen, und ein Zimmerwechsel am nächsten Tag. Mehr könne er für uns nicht tun. Damit war das Gespräch für ihn beendet und wandte sich wieder seiner Restaurantkasse zu. Nach unserer Auffassung ist dieses Verhalten Betrug. Er hatte unser Geld schon kassiert. Für 2 Nächte Superior Zimmer! Am nächsten Morgen sprachen wir dann mit einer netten Kollegin an der Rezeption. Frau M. war im Gegensatz zu ihrem Kollegen kompetent und handlungswillig. Sie organisierte den Zimmerwechsel, erstattete den zuviel bezahlten Superioraufschlag und eine Kompensation für die gestörte Nachtruhe. Der Unterschied zwischen Standard und Superior ist die Lage: Hauptverkehrsstrasse und Innenhof. und wir hatten ausdrücklich Innenhof bestellt. Nach der positiven Überraschung an der Rezeption der zweite Schock: das Frühstück. Das Hotel wird durch die Lage zum Musical vornehmlich von Busgruppen frequentiert. Wir hatten uns schon erst zu 10 Uhr für das Frühstück vorbereitett, um dem Ansturm der Busgruppen aus dem Weg zu gehen. Aber es war eine Katastrophe! Die drei Servicekräfte waren heillos überfordert. Schlachtfeld trifft es wohl am Besten. und keiner der Mitarbeiter war in der Lage etwas Ordnung in das Chaos zu bringen. Wenn Sie irgendwie können, suchen Sie sich ein anderes Hotel! Und wenn Sie es schon nicht vermeiden können, dann buchen Sie unbedingt Superior. Erstens ist an Schlaf bei Zimmern der Standardkategorie zur Strassenseite nicht zu denken und zweitens finden Sie dort eine Einrichtung, die wohl noch aus dem 70er Jahren stammt. Die Superiorzimmer sind zur ruhigen Hofseite und sehen aus, als wenn sie in den 90er Jahren mal renoviert wurden. (auch schon 30 Jahre her....) Selbst die Nähe zum Musicaltheater macht es nicht erträglicher. Das Musical selbst ist auch nach 30 Jahren immer noch eine Reise wert!

The hotel is in the centre of Bochum, exit the hotel and you are in the centre. Parking is underneath the hotel in a public garage for an acceptable daily rate. Beds great, but the bedlinnen for a double bed is so small that one person is left out in the cold. Hotel is brand new. Loved the hotel. Breakfast great except the juices. Friendly staff. What needs improvement: The mentioned bed linnen / covers. The hotel needs to do something about that. I do not know what kind of ”juice” comes out of the machine at breakfast, but you really cannot call this orange juice.

YYIThe location is very good, opposite the train station, next to the hotel is the subway, walking along the road is Bochum city centre. The hotel staff are very polite and have the strict style of the Germans. The room facilities are properly arranged, but compared to the majority of hotels in the country, and although the buffet breakfast is dazzling, but as the Chinese said that they are not used to eating, it is better to go back to the room to eat biscuits and drink juice.

The Ibis Hotel Bochum Zentral in Bochum, Germany, is what you would called a very tired and dated hotel. My wife and I visited her friend in Bochum and stayed in this hotel from 9th to 13th August 2022. I must say that the hotel, indeed most of what is the town of Bochum, needs an urgent make over. The architecture of this hotel and much of the town is 70s style prefabricated concrete and the decor is also stuck in the 70s or at best the 80s. The bed in Ibis Bochum was excruciatingly uncomfortable, way too soft with ”gully” in the mattress,we left with severe backaches. The toilet/ shower room must've been designed for little people, because an average height or very tall person would struggle to use the toilet and/or shower. The pilows are best described as half pillows stuffed in full pillowcases. We asked for extra pillows for comfort and the housekeeper brought them, but also complained that they've told management on numerous occasions to change the pillows to full pillows. The bedstead and mattress are constantly on the move, a few times we found ourselves on the floor in the morning. The white concrete cladding in the hallway is a mighty mighty mighty throwback to the 70s when this type of decor was fashionable! The staff tried their best to smile and be courteous, but you can tell they also wished they were somewhere else. A lick of paint inside and outside would certainly brighten the staff and the customers mood and faces. We've decided that next time we visit out friend again in Bochum, we will definitely stay at her place and sleep on the couch, instead of staying at the Ibis!

It is also enjoyed by business travelers and assemblers. No star bunker but a convenient chain hotel with good transport connection for drivers. nearby are shops and restaurants walking distance.
