The location is not very central, but it is okay. After all, it is not possible to have no car in Tu'ao, and then drive to the center in 5-10 minutes. And Canberra, as a capital, really can't see how it looks like a capital, haha ... it's almost like a day and a day with Beijing. Haha ... it's sparsely populated, and almost no one is on the street after 7pm.
The environment of the hotel is good. It is the highest two-story building, and it is also very convenient to carry luggage. After all, it is a brand chain. All aspects of sanitation and services are guaranteed, but in general, it is older A little bit! The breakfast in the morning was fair, the variety was good and the taste was ok. It was 8pm when we arrived, and the sky was still bright, but there was not much food outside, haha ... so I ordered something to eat at the hotel, which was not bad!
We stayed here for 2 nights visiting Canberra. We were overall very satisfied with our room. Had a good size and was very good with kitchen and washing machine. Wi-Fi was good and the hotel had a big free parking lot. Our only complaint is that a mistake had occurred when our room was cleaned before arrival. Some hotels have these doors in between rooms if you should like to have 2 rooms together. We only had one room but the door into the room beside our room wasn’t locked, so we could literally walk straight into some other peoples room. Luckily it was empty. We also missed a drying rack for all our clothes and maybe some decor on the long hallways Also notice that this hotel is not placed in walking distance to the attractions in Canberra All in all we were okay satisfied when we had the door locked by the receptionist (You had to use a key)
From the first moment you walk into the room, the musty smell hits you like a brick! The room we had was very small, but that didn’t bother us at all. It was the stagnant, stale air and the unmistakable smell of a very old hotel room, which once-upon-a-time was inhabited by smoking guests. I tried without success to open a window - I was desperate for some fresh air! On night two of our stay, after returning from a full day out exploring Canberra, I was astonished to see that housekeeping had replaced our towels, but not bothered to make the bed, empty the rubbish bin or vacuum the floor! This property is described as 4-star on the Best Western website, I have no idea how they are able to claim this rating! The breakfast selection can only be described as bare minimum, but the most disturbing thing about the breakfast “buffet” was how messy the entire area was! We found crumbs and pieces of rubbish scattered on each of the tables holding the food. Needless to say, we took a hard pass on the breakfast! The only positive I have to offer about our experience at this hotel is that the water pressure in the shower was very good.

Stayed 3 nights in a standard queen room. The room was nice, although a bit dark as I was on the ground floor with a small window facing the hotels covered entrance. The bed was very soft, maybe too soft for some. The bathroom with walk in shower was compact but functional. The hotel is close the main attractions, with free secure onsite parking. Kingston shops are close by with many nice cafes and supermarket. It has a fully mini bar in the room but I found the prices too high, $9 for a bottle of beer, so I Didnt use it. I got a great rate for my stay.
Location: Tucked away in the Kingston neighborhood of Canberra. Mix of residents and guests. Definitely residential area (there a nice, large park across the street). We preferred this to staying in the City Centre. Short walk/drive to Kingston village with shops, restaurants, and bars. Manuka village is a short drive away. Keep in mind these are low-rise apartments (3 floors) with no lifts. So be mindful of where your room is and that you might have to carry your luggage up a few flights of stairs. Building is secure (need a key to enter). Covered parking. Room: Extra spacious 2-bedroom apartment with large living room area, fully-equipped kitchen (stove/oven, large refrigerator, microwave, dishware, cookware, and cutlery), dining table, and desk. Perfect for the family. Room is a bit dated, but that didn't bother us at all. I don't know if the whole open shower concept is an Aussie thing, but we didn't particularly enjoy it, especially for kids (though this was consistent at nearly every hotel we stayed, not just this one). Service/Reception: As this is an apartment hotel, services are limited. Reception was closed by the time we got there (6pm), but the security staff was there to help us check-in. Check-out was simple and the woman at reception was very pleasant and polite. Overall, we loved our stay here. We liked the apartment tucked away in a residential area. We had no desire to stay in the City Centre. Plus, it was a great value. Would stay again.
Great location and super fast check-in and checkout. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment that sleeps 6 (1 double bed and 4 single beds) and another 2 can sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge room. Fully stocked kitchen with plates, cutlery, cups and everything you need for cooking. But you don't really need to cook since you have restaurants a short 5 minute walk away and further 5 minutes walk you can be eating by the water! We didn't use the gym, pool common areas, but it's handy to have onsite.
Canberra is always so expensive and the options are very average. We got a great rate here and were very happy with the fresh new looking rooms we had at the end of the corridor. They give you free waters in the room and nice toiletries as well as a huge TV with Chromecast. Only things we didn't like were the expensive parking $15, huge pothole/rut by the parking turn in and the outrageously high Amex surcharge. I had complained about this and at least they offered us some free items from their pantry. The location in Kingston is great with a Supabarn supermarket nearby. We will stay again for a good price. But if you don't have a pet, make sure you ask for a non-pet room.
Our overnight stay at East Hotel in Manuka was fabulous. Arriving for an easy check in at 3:30pm after a day of driving was awesome. We had read reviews beforehand on parking. We drove in for parking on levels B3 or B4 for Hotel guests and took the parking ticket to Reception. Once checked in, Your Room ‘fob’ allows parking and access in and out of carpark. $20 overnight payable upon checking out. The room was well appointed and a surprise being so roomy and very comfortable. A small container of fresh milk for tea & coffee was fantastic. We booked into Agostinis on site for an early dinner - what a treat! Gorgeous fresh pasta & pizzas. I used the In Room device to book 2 bikes for the following morning. You can prebook for up to 4 hours. Helmets are available as well but we brought our own plus own bike gloves. We had a beautiful Autumn ride around Jerrabomberra Wetlands, then back towards Manuka over the Kings Avenue Bridge, stopping for morning tea at Joe’s Bar at East (Cafe) beside Lake Burley Griffin (called On Lake Cafe on Maps). Having a late check out at 12pm was very welcome also. Overall a fabulous stay. I highly recommend the East Hotel.
This is a converted apartment block - even reception is a converted bedroom. Obviously some 2 bedroom apartments have been split to create two 1 bedroom apartments of which we had a small half of. Plus points: Very comfortable beds. Large bathroom with walk in shower. Free underground parking. Quiet location. Pool. Couple of bottles of water and Coke (albeit full fat) Negative points : No option to have breakfast (in a 4 star property). Airconditioning turns itself off frequently. Extraction in bathroom was useless. Walk in shower obviously had a door at some stage but it was either broken or removed. Several large hairs on the bathroom floor. Pathetically thin toilet paper. Terrace area of ours and adjacent rooms clearly haven't had a decent clean in weeks! - ingrained dirt on tiles, grout and walls. Stains on room carpet. Pathetically small bedside tables which have a lamp with a ridiculously huge base. Only 1 chair? Having mirrors to the ceiling would be nice if someone got to polish the top half occasionally. Hallway carpets are grubby. Considering covid cases are currently on the rise again, the general lack of cleanliness is somewhat disturbing. Management really need to review their cleaning policies and inspect rooms!!!!! As a summary the place is overpriced for what is on offer and cleanliness needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. It does not warrant a 4 star rating in my opinion.
