Arrived at the Mousetrap Inn only to find we could not get parked within 500yds of the venue. Very few spaces available given the number of rooms available. I think this should be highlighted before arrival as after a 200 mile drive it didn’t start things well. Once we walked back and booked in our welcome was warm and informative from a very friendly receptionist. All was explained in detail. The room was adequate but very warm. Once the windows were opened we managed to get some air through. Eventually during the evening saw a space in the car park and managed to walk back to the car and get back in time to get in.The far end of the car park is the rubbish area with overflow being in the end bay which is not ideal when trying to get parked. The sleep was t good with a very uneven mattress and very warm in the room. Later found that the floor was very hot across under the bed which I presume was heating pipes. We were above the kitchen but as they finished at a reasonable time it did not present a problem. One problem with the kitchen however is the rear access to the accommodation. The area outside the door is absolutely disgusting, the path to the rooms out the back is lathered in grease and puddles of stagnant soapy water lying around the drain. This all comes from the rear door to the kitchen and the outside cooler unit. Very poor considering it is an access route for guests. Breakfast was in itself very good and well cooked, the serving staff however might benefit from treating the customer as such and not using looks and attitude towards people as if they are naughty children! We had to wait around for several minutes for the door to open as when we arrived just after 8am there were no staff around. Also loud conversation with the kitchen staff discussing last nights tv is not what I desire over breakfast. To be a stand out venue in this area these sort of problems need to be addressed.

We stayed at an Airbnb a few doors down from the mousetrap inn, but at a shop assistants recommdation, booked in for dinner at mousetrap inn restaurant. It was delicious, so much so that we returned the following night!! Very lucky as apparently hard to get in at short notice.

Great find stayed for 2 nights lovely rooms attentive friendly staff , location is great cost little pub with nice food and beer can’t fault it. Had dinner 1 night also which was really good food, short 5 min stroll into the centre , and a great base for walks and exploring the stunning Cotswolds , can’t wait to go back

Steve and Michelle were excellent hosts in their lovely 'The Mousetrap Inn'. I was travelling solo and stayed in one of the ground-floor rooms, and I was so happy. The room was spotless, and fresh, oh and that bed was just so incredibly comfortable. I was greeted as a friend and looked after, the staff were just as wonderful. I couldn't fault the accommodation or the food at all. Besides being spoilt the village is beautiful, I would recommend getting up early before the visitors arrive for happy snaps.

We had a lovely one night stay at the Mousetrap Inn. We've booked again for 2025 as we fell in love with the inn and the village instantly. The rooms are small yet cosy with large wardrobe and lots of floorspace. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home and I got lost in the pillows by the morning! The room had everything we needed: comfy bed, chair, tea making facilities, TV, wardrobe, toiletries and a fan! The new decor is lovely for the room and definitely fit into the feel of the inn. There is a small car park outside but what do you expect for an olde little village? There are plenty of parking spaces outside near the village which is only a 2 - 3 min walk away. We didn't eat in the pub as we found it a bit pricy but there were plenty of customers sitting for their meal so it must be good! We will try the food in 2025. We didn't need help from the staff but we heard a young barman asking a lady if she needed help carrying her bags which was nice to hear. The only issue we had was with the curtains in our room - they didn't close properly so light came in but this is something the hotel can resolve easily but it didn't bother us enough for a complaint or bad review! Ignore the negative reviews, this little place is a slice of paradise!

We were supposed to be staying at The Mousetrap this weekend, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they couldn’t accommodate our booking. Michelle was brilliant, great example of putting the customer first and went out of her way to find us replacement accommodation - we’ll definitely be rebooking for our next visit.

This Inn is within walking distance of the beautiful village of Burton on the Water. We arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon so staff were under pressure. The lady of the house is very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room by her and she explained about making a dinner reservation as they were extremely busy, this was helpful. It is advertised that there is parking available. We were unable to park in their parking (max 5 cars) during our stay as they were always taken, not enough spaces if every guest drove a car so bare this in mind. Breakfast service was extremely poor, there is relaxed and then there is the mousetrap in relaxed! Normally people like their tea and toast with their breakfasts and not when breakfast is finished. Toast was burnt, ordered fried eggs and received poached eggs. Very disappointing breakfast service however the food was tasty. Breakfast staff seem very unorganized and only one person seemed to be on each morning. Our bedroom wasn’t like the pictures, the ensuite was very small and a lot of mould in it on the ceiling which isn’t ideal. We also noticed that our ceiling was leaking on the morning of departure. Bathrooms didn’t seem to be cleaned from the night before with no toilet paper in them at breakfast time. Location is very good, restaurant and bar has great potential but the accommodation lets this place down, big time.
