Hotel Kalura

Well located hotel but only if you have a car. Not able to plug in the hairdryer (neither the one that came with the room or my own) in the bathroom which was a bit of a problem as only mirror was there. Room was nice and clean but bed wasn’t the best and We turned down the room cleaning service as it was offered late afternoon (once we were back from city visit) at which hour we were resting before dinner. View, waitor at bar and breakfast terrasse were extremely nice.

Stayed here with my family - husband & 2 kids (10 & 8) and we had a great stay! We booked a beautiful sea view 2 bedroom room and it was nice & clean and basic. But we were ok with this. The private beach was the best part of our stay and we were so glad we didn’t have to fight crowds at the very popular main beaches in town. The pool was great too - my kids would spend all day at the beach then afternoons in the pool. We ordered food a couple of times and although there were only paninis on the menu, when we asked they also had pizza, chips (potatoes) and arancini which were ok. We booked the breakfast option as that was easiest with kids, I read a few complaints about it but we were happy with it all. Maybe we’re just easy to please lol & just happy to be on holidays. There were cold meats (fresh & tasty) and pastries plus fruits and yoghurts. The scrambled eggs & bacon were good and the highlight was the pancake machine. We are ate at the restaurant for dinner one night and the food was good. The bus service to town was really convenient and we’d just catch a taxi back (15 euros - it is expensive but we didn’t want to walk so we paid). We were looking for a relaxing end to our holiday and this was perfect!

We checked into this hotel and instantly regreted booking this. It's advertised as a 4 start hotel, I'm sorry but it is not. The rooms are so outdated with unattractive furniture and the general building needs a re-fresh. Our body wash in the shower was empty when we checked in and we had to ask the housekeeping staff on the 3rd day if they can refill it for us which they did. Breakfast room was also disappointing, coffee not good. I would like to add that the hotel is very clean though, this is the only nice thing I can say about the place. The location is not good at all and the walk to town is not easy and you arrive all hot and sweaty. We had booked 4 nights and after 3 nights we wanted to check out so we did, the staff explained we still needed to pay for the 4 nights. I paid upon check in and at check out I was asked to pay again, I told the gentleman I paid at check in and he said I didnt so I handed over my card but checked my banking app while he was processing the transaction and showed him that I did already pay so he had to refund the second transaction to me. I would definitely avoid this place if you are expecting a 4 star hotel as its just not.

We went here the first time 30 years ago where my husband proposed. It was 3 star then - 4 star now. It’s an absolutely beautiful location and hotel. The staff are very friendly & helpful who made some great restaurant recommendations/ organised taxis several times inc pick up from the airport. We were impressed with the upgraded rooms (stylish & modern with Ritual toiletries); excellent gym and great bar (with a barman who was there first time round too). The pool is lovely although you have to walk across the car park to get to it but there is a bar there so all very easy & welcoming. There are also tennis courts & oversized games like chess as well as table tennis. Breakfast is a do-it-yourself buffet which has plenty of fresh fruits/yoghurts/meat & cheese etc. The hot food is a little limited if I’m honest, but plenty to choose from in the cold food section. We went on a boat trip to the other side of the bay (with Coast to Coast) organised at the hotel which we loved, complete with snacks & Prosecco. The walk into town is easy & pedestrianised most of the way & takes a very leisurely 30 mins. Two things could have improved our stay (both minor): 1. The safe (no handle) and drawers were hard to open. I had to wedge the drawer open to get into it. 2. As I’d told them of the occasion, a free glass of something would have been welcome & appreciated. That said I’d go back in a heart beat. Unparalleled views and family-feel hotel.
