3-Star Hotels in Cartagena

I had higher expectations after staying at other Ibis locations such as in Rio de Janeiro (Posto 5). We stayed in a standard room with sea view which was a nice surprise. The air conditioning in the room was very silent and efficient but the beds not very comfortable. No fridge and I was told none of the rooms have a fridge. The room was of decent size and similar in that to other Ibis of that category. The window could not be really opened. On the bright side we did not hear any noise during our stay though the other rooms around seemed occupied. The space dedicated to the food (restaurant) was unappealing at best in my view. I found the breakfast to be rather basic. Maybe due to COVID there was no self service but people were served by the staff, which at times caused quite a line to form. Overall I found the staff to be rather cold. Not rude but not very friendly. This was true when facing staff at the reception, at the ”restaurant” and in general in the hotel (including cleaning staff). Possibly I got spoiled in Medellin where practically everyone is so friendly, welcoming and helpful... even more so in hotels. Also the reception staff seemed to have to follow complicated procedures probably aggravated by slow computers systems so the check in was not exactly fast. the location of the hotel is ok. It is an easy and rather quick walk to the old city and the airport is very close (in the other direction). The beach in front of the hotel, across the road, is typical for Cartagena, nothing spectacular but again I am probably spoiled. It was quite windy the two days and a few kite surfers visibly enjoyed both the sea and the wind.

This was my first visit to Colombia and it was a blast! This was due in large part to my stay at this Hampton Inn at Bocogrande Beach. Very nice hotel, great location, very friendly and helpful staff, they served the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel which was complimentary. I spent a couple days on the rooftop pool and bar. There is a safe in the room. The hotel does not offer any rooms with a king size bed, no mini fridge but really no complaints. Everything was around the hotel. So many bars, restaurants, some casinos. I would definitely look to stay here again on my next visit.

The structure is beautiful, divided into two buildings, two terraces and two restaurants but discreet and more expensive food than what is out there. The bedroom could be much better...the bathroom was really sharp, at all at the standards of other Selina facilities. The bed was quite comfortable at least. The air conditioner in the room at a too low temperature that was not possible to modify by creating ice in the room.

Room is upgraded with balcony for additional pay at check-in counter. Good experience with late check out at 1pm.

I was upgraded to this property from the OZ luxury hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by this action and enjoyed the larger room. I’m not sure what there is to complain about for this hotel. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The check-in process was easy and when we asked for recommendations for restaurants they were happy to help. Breakfast each morning was different Columbian cuisine which I enjoy when traveling. It was fresh with a good variety of choices. If the local cuisine is not your liking they make eggs to order which is a nice added touch. I loved being in the Bocagrande area it isn’t as busy as the walled city it is more of a beach town vibe. Uber to the other attractions ranged from $3-6. I can say I fell in love with this property and Cartagena and look forward to coming back soon.

Location wise you cannot beat this hostel, so convenient! You have the city wall facing the ocean, Getsémani and all other landmarks well within 10 minutes walking. Also the private room, so nice! Roomy, airconditioned, great bathroom. Also a balcony overlooking the busy streets, all great! And then there is the rooftop. Very nicely done, really cool place to hang out and cool off your hot day. Didn't try the pool but it looked nice too. But then... Casa Movida being a hostel, we were looking for a common area to meet other travelers as well. That is non-existent here. The place doesn't invite you to chill and connect with others. The rooftop gets close to such a place, but was often empty. Maybe more importantly: The staff. Nobody seems to have fun in what they're doing there. Find another job if you don't like working in a hostel. They prefer to text/play games on their phone rather then helping paying guests. Knowing the rooftop bar is cool. Unfortunately you cannot pay for your drink(s) there. Meaning even as a guest sleeping on the top floor, you need to take all the steps down to pay for a beer before going to bed. You can't put a tab on your room. Which is very inconvenient.

This is a very known chain with the minimum standard almost similar everywhere; it is located inside a building occupying only some floors, lobby/restaurant/swimming pool are at 10th , guest rooms below. It seems quite new, rooms have enough space as well as the bathroom, I did appreciate the bed, big and extremely comfortable. What needs a significant improve in my opinion are breakfast, personnel and Wi-Fi. Breakfast has even enough choice but it is fundamental to add label or similar closed to each product, with of course English translation, not just a blackboard with a list. Employees don’t know English, only some speak a basic one and this is not acceptable for an international chain. Internet network should be improved, not speed really, but the “covering”, in some rooms it interrupts the service sometime annoyingly. The location is not the best, downtown and Boca Grande is quite far, however taxi and Uber are plenty and with affordable fares and, last but not least, the overall cost of the hotel is really affordable.

A wonderful hotel in the heart of Cartagena with a courtyard inside that looks like a botanical garden. When I booked the hotel, I was a little worried after reading some not entirely positive reviews, but I do not regret staying here for three nights, especially since other hotels have more negative reviews. And  here is my conclusion. Great hotel with air conditioner in the room, swimming pool and rooftop which i really like. The staff is very friendly, some of them speak english, especially Juan David. This young guy speaks good english, he is very helpful and erudite. The other guys also left good impressions: Antony, Gustavo, Nilsa, Oscar The breakfast here is great, you feel like you are in a cafe, they will prepare food for you to order. The dining room is located on the fifth floor with a view of the city.  I read that some guests had complaints about the noise from the street. Guys, if you want to live in a quiet place, then you need to book a hotel on the outskirts of the city, but here in the very center and on the busiest street, do not expect that there will be silence. My room was inside  with a window to the courtyard, and there was no noise from the street. I give them five stars, and I really hope that the management will encourage their employees who try their best. Excellent service. staff working there is very friendly and service. food is very good, the menu is varied and healthy. The hotel is very well located, allowing you to visit and know different sites nearby, including the beach.
