We recently returned from our 10th visit to the Angel of the Sea in beautiful Cape May, NJ. Our annual vacation trip to this historic bed and breakfast is always one of the highlights of my year. The inn has clean, comfortable rooms full of Victorian charm and the staff is so warm and friendly. The Angel is steps from the ocean and boasts a phenomenal full breakfast. Afternoon tea is served along with evening wine and cheese. The Angel is a great place and a great value. I highly recommend this gem on the Jersey Shore!

This is a very special place to stay. If you appreciate Victorian charm, then this place can't be beat. We stayed in room 24, which was huge and gorgeous. When we first arrived, I didn't want to leave the room. The Angel of the Sea has a lot to offer regarding culinary delights: the breakfast, afternoon tea, and late afternoon wine and cheese. They truly pamper you as they provide you with a variety of delicious offerings. One word of warning: if you have restaurant reservations for dinner, make sure you don't fill up on all the afternoon goodies. The entire staff of the Angel of the Sea made our stay a memorable one, and we highly recommend this beautiful B&B to anyone who appreciates true beauty and a unique experience.

I have been to many B&B's. The difference between The Angel of The Sea is the pride that the Stanton Family takes in making sure you feel like part of the Family. Every detail of your stay from the minute you walk into the welcoming cozy parlor to check in to the time you are ready to leave is Amazing. The Breakfasts are phenomenal! Tea time with fresh baked goods and The Wine & Cheese at 5:30 all included. Oh let's not forget the Wonderful staff who are always willing to help. I said goodbye to all the rest 9 yrs ago because now I found the "Best". Thank you to The Stanton Family & Staff for making The Angel my Forever Happy Place. 🧜‍♀️ Denise

Been staying at the Angel every December for fifteen years straight. The best B&B in Cape May. All are so accommodating and pleasant. Every room is unique and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is served in the dining room, parlor or on the porch (weather permitting) where you can have views of the beach. You have several choices and they will make up special requests. There’s an afternoon tea with homemade cakes, mousse, etc. Then, at 5:30 various cheeses, meats, olives, pickles, vegetables, crackers and dip and a selection of wines. Our first year we made dinner reservations not knowing all the amenities and were too full to eat dinner. :). Don’t miss out on this gem. You won’t be disappointed.

First, we got there a bit after 7 due to traffic, and they were so welcoming - they put out the wine for us even though that ended at 7. Their beautiful front porch is unmatched. They now serve breakfast out on that lovely porch, which is less formal/staid than indoors, and they now have a buffet in addition to the the formal breakfast, so if you don't like a cooked breakfast, there are many other choices, including lots of fresh fruit. (Note my husband found the cooked breakfast delicious.) I do have a few minor notes of caution, though. We were in room 1, and I found it impossible to climb into the shower without holding my husband - there is nothing to hold onto -- they need a grab bar. Also, I found the bed a bit soft -but I am middle-aged and I think that those under 50 would not notice that. Anyway, it really is a wonderful place, easy walk to town, too - I can't wait to go back!

Nice looking property, albeit needing a refresh in some areas. Good location for the beach; a bit further from town than desirable unless utilizing the shuttle. It was a special occasion for us, but for the price per night, we were disappointed overall. The room was clean and had what we needed. However, there was a very cheap, noisy window AC, which we had to turn off at night in order to sleep. The main “leisure” areas other than being in your own room are porches. No library or parlor as customary in most B & Bs, as those spaces were used for seating for meals. No little welcoming bowl of candy or bottle of wine in the room. No books to be borrowed. No cozy feeling. The coffee was good and breakfast offerings were fine, but not noteworthy. Other offerings such as tea and sweets in the afternoon were a bit frugal. White wine was not chilled well and no refill was offered; however the cheese plate was more generous than expected. The thing that was unusual, and actually tacky, was that “gratuities appreciated” was printed on every single menu. Before I get the “B&Bs are not for everyone” response, please be assured we have enjoyed staying at many of them in the U.S., Canada and in Europe. If we return, we would stay elsewhere.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and invited to join other guests in the lovely dining room for tea and sweet treats once we settled, or, a little later, for wine and cheese. In fact, everything about our three-night stay was warm and inviting. The bedroom featured period decorations yet provided modern comfort in terms of plentiful hot water, a mountain of pillows to choose from, and an excellent mattress. We had a room on the third floor, and enjoyed the ocean view from the adjoining deck. Other guests also had access to the deck, but they were polite and considerate, so this was not an issue (some of our windows opened to the deck). Each of the rooms is unique, which is one of the charms of a property like this–but can also be a pitfall, if you don’t do your research. As other guests have mentioned, the stairs may be a challenge for some; if this can be an issue for you, do touch base with the staff when you make your reservations. There is a TV in the room and WiFi on the property, but no tea/coffee facilities in the room (provided instead in the lounge/dining area). The breakfasts were spectacular. The cook has mastered the tricky art of poaching eggs, as well as turning out waffles that are crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. We also appreciated the selection of fresh fruit every morning. We were provided free parking on site, and availed ourselves of the free bicycles for some wonderful exploring–the nearby roads are wide, with well-marked bike lanes. It was easier to get into town by bike than car, even in shoulder season. We look forward to returning soon!
