Résidence A Merula

We have just returned from A Merula and can’t wait to go back! Having booked in 2020 and then rebooked twice, like many, our trip had been a long time coming. We had been keen to go to Corsica for a long while and can honestly say that both A Merula and Calvi, not only met but exceeded our expectations in many ways! Christophe and his team keep the beautiful gardens immaculately and can be seen caring for them every day, whatever the temperature. The three pools are all set in lovely positions with plenty of shade and are rarely occupied by too many people. The apartments are very clean and have all you need, with lovely patios or balconies. We made daily use of our balcony overlooking the stunning gardens and backdrop of the amazing mountains, both for a nice simple lunch and for drinks when we got back in the evenings. The location is perfect - the beach, harbour and Citadella are all within 10-15 minutes walk as are two supermarkets and some other nice food shops. The array of restaurants and bars both at the port and on the beach is huge. Many are quite pricey but the quality in the main is excellent (and this comes from two foodies….) So glad that we were there for two weeks!

We had been here before about 10 years back and I was a little anxious that it wouldn't be as good ( we loved here first time round).Needn't have worried. Everything is tip top and high quality all the way. Christophe is a great guy and works so hard on this beautiful small complex and its amazing gardens all within a 20 minute walk of the centre of Calvi ( which has become much much more touristy over the intervening years..not necessarily a good thing I feel ). You are left to your own devices to shop!, cook, clean as at home. It's perfect for a very relaxed sunshine break. Great Super U supermarket within walking distance. Takeaway pizza if desired from the pizza wagon next to camping 5 minutes walk away. The very nice Calvi town beach is a short walk and it's very nice with very clean sand and water. Aircon in the apartment good and quiet. Washing machine on site for guests. It's a little paradise and TT thoroughly recommends!
