I went for a weekend break but I couldn't rest, sleeping is impossible. I woke up with my body covered in small ants. They were everywhere but especially in the bed. I tried to get rid of them and go back to sleep but it was useless. They came back every time.

Ok where to begin with this very unique experience. First of all the hotel location is great. A stones throw from the beach and a very short walk to the most amazing town of shops bars eating places Coffee houses corner shops etc. how ever if your looking to test your self mentally with sleep deprivation that the SAS would them selfs not inflict on others as well as sense torcher close to water boarding with the constants smell of fag smoke in every part of this hotel or drunken people wanting to let the entire town know it’s there birthday or just being loud and obnoxious then this is the place for you. The staff are amazing and friendly not a bad word against them. The guests that stay in this hotel sadly are some types that are a bit …. Well let’s just say I heard one British gentlemen say and I quote “ even though we are abroad that Chinese’s down the road was amazing “. You can smoke on your Balcony which Ment for none smokers like us we couldn’t enjoy that, as soon as we opened the doors you get hit with it. you can smoke by the pool as well sadly which again spoiled it for us. The food yes very basic and repetitive, but as long as you realise your not in England and cannot get burgers chips and other forms of fast food you can enjoy a nice meal. Was amazed how many people even though in a foreign country demanded fast food types instead of eating local food. The rooms seem hit and miss. Are room was two twins pushed together with a mattress made from compressed cardboard how ever the room was very clean and tidy. Only one plug socket which had the telly plugged in so I advise to bring an extension lead. Other rooms do have air con but ours did not. If your looking for a relaxing and peaceful stay then def avoid here we sadly returned to the uk so tired we did not get a single good night due to the drunken noise of other guests and due to the design of hotel noise echo’s everywhere, the constant smell of fag smoke Ment we could not have the door open to allow a breeze. As much as we tried to find the good bits the best of are holiday was on the beach or down the town. the hotel it self was just to soul destroying. I genuinely have PTSD and do not want to see another plastic cup with a ice cube and cheap machine made cocktail ever again. How ever you get what you paid for so learnt our lesson.i give this 3 stars mainly because I feel so sorry for the staff.

Couldn't fault hotel or staff at all. Staff very friendly, chatty and helpful. Short walk to beach, and local shops. Hotel had everything we needed. Don't believe the bad reviews. Heard some people moaning whilst there but they was comparing to 5 star hotels. Always plenty of food and drinks. Rooms cleaned daily Only problem we came across was people who had one to many and started arguments or fights. Hotel was very quick to respond to resolve issue or got police involved if the people were completely out of hand. Will definitely come back here again.

We deliberated whether to come here or not as the reviews were bad. Past experience has taught us that the reviews aren't always as bad as the actual truth. But in this case they are spot on. Unfortunately. There are two things good about this hotel and that is the staff (Juan was a right laugh) and the location. To be honest the whole hotel needs gutting and refurbishing. The corridors are dark and dingy with flickering lights. It's like something out of a scary movie. Now I can't complain about our room as we were lucky in that we got one with a double aspect view of the pool and the sea with a wraparound balcony. Others weren't as lucky. At busy times it was impossible to get a sunbed and sometimes even a table. The food was horrendous. Repetive and lukewarm. No microwave to warm it up. We ate out several times as we couldn't face it. I'm not a fussy eater either. Today is the seventh day the lift has been out of order. Not too bad for us as we are on the first floor. It was sad to see others struggling though. Some of the clientele were a bit rough round the edges. A hen party got thrown out. Four police cars turned up pointing guns! It's our penultimate day today and I can't wait to go home. Never again. It's a shame really as the location is only a few minutes from the beach. You can hear everything from adjoining rooms. The bar closes at 11.30 on the dot and they are quick to get rid of everyone but you'd sometimes hear people coming back from elsewhere banging doors and talking loudly.

Hotel very dated, lift was broken all time we was there, elderly people having to carry wheelchairs and suitcases up and down stair reception wouldn’t help, food was ok but not a lot of choice had to go to supermarket because hotel ran out of coke for my vodka, fights in hotel people getting robbed in hotel, very thin walls you can here every noise police called a few times, only 2 sockets had to buy an extension wire, balconies not very private people leaning over ours to talk to other side, had to tie shower head up with hair band to use it, never again

Avoid at all cost what a s### hole. Had the worst food poisoning ever. Been up all night vomiting and (I’ll that bit blank) finally managed to get down stairs and wasn’t aloud any water by the manager. Food was atrocious, all inclusive drinks were all naff, beer was tiny local cans, so called cocktails were made by a vending machines so very much doubt there’s any alcohol in them. Police closing the bar every night oh and rats living in the pool fountain god knows how much rat pee and s### in the pool ?? I’ve given one star as not able to give zero. Only positive we fly home later should be called hotel terrible not terramar

First impressions seems ok , room basic one electric socket only, we overlooked the pool which was good , drinks at bar few to choose machine cocktails, tin local beer ,sprits ran low regularly and even ran out of vodka and they asked holiday makers to visit shop to buy some, food was basic but ok but some times they ran out of condiments or ice cream, always fruit , dining staff were lovely. Snacks at bar best avoided as these were leftovers from breakfast and burgers in a heated cabinet which had an open back flies seen in there ,some pastries available but only one bar tender who was fab coved them ,let down by lift breaking down on third day (14 night stay) lied to about lift being repaired but as end of season I believe that it was decided to leave as is till repairs during shutdown, we were on third floor and as a reduced mobility found this really hard so had to put everything in a bag that we might need for the day and only venture up to room as absolutely necessary, There were break ins during our stay on first floor ,and a fight which brought police to the hotel, swimming pool was frequently floating with debris from the pigeons and sand from waterfall which has seen better days and walls of pool in places were green from algae. . Free internet unusable can’t connect and if a miracle happened it didn’t last .Calella It self nice beach good lots of places to visit enjoyed our time away despite problems as cheep holiday what else can you do. But make do , I would return to Calella but choose another hotel.
