LOCATION: On the Place de la République, it was with within easy walking distance of major sights: Abbaye aux Hommes and Hôtel de Ville in one direction, Abbaye aux Dames and the Château, the remnants of Guillaume le Conquérant's (William the Conqueror's) and his missus, Mathilde, fortified bolthole, in the other. Bayeux is just a 20 minute train ride away and not to be missed: the amazing tapestry is still delighting the masses with its story after a thousand years and nearby is one of the most elegant Gothic cathedrals in Europe. ROOM: The large de luxe room with two sets of French windows onto a small balcony overlooking the Place de la République was extremely comfortable. Large bathroom with plenty of room for toiletries. SERVICE: Amiable and smiling throughout with welcoming, knowledgable reception staff. BREAKFAST: Included in the de luxe room rate I'd opted for and good value. France is a carnivore's paradise but as a vegetarian, I was well satisfied with the selection of summer fruits and cheeses.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome at this hotel. The hotel has car parking under the property and the person on the front desk ( apologies I can't remember her name) was very helpful in guiding us into the car park and even carried some of our luggage up to the reception area. The rooms are very comfortable and very quiet, the breakfast was fresh with many options to choose from. There was a very helpful gentleman at reception who , on several occasions, was kind enough to book a couple of restaurants for us. Even when he was very busy. The only small issue we had with our room was the temperature of the heating, it was a little too warm for us. When I asked about this at reception I was told the the air conditioning is turned off in September and I fan would be brought up to the room. The fan never arrived, however we were compensated for this when we checked out of the hotel. Try the restaurant Beouf and Cow, it's fantastic and only a short walk from the hotel Overall the Best Western Plus Hotel Moderne is a very comfortable, quiet and centrally located hotel. I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Caen.

De bouche-à-oreille, nous avons eu la connaissance de ce restaurant. Nous sommes donc venues dîner sans avoir réservé. Très bon accueil, le serveur a répondu avec gentillesse à nos interrogations ; il a été de bons conseils de l'apéritif accompagné de frites de patates douces ainsi que les vins proposés avec les pizzas, délicieuses, bien garnies avec des ingrédients de qualité, bien cuisinées et très bien cuites. De plus, nous avons eu la chance d'avoir la présence d'un chanteur de talent. Bravo à toutes les équipes et bonne continuation !

This was one of many stays at this hotel but was by far the best yet, from the fabulous lady on reception who greeted us on our arrival to the brilliant breakfast on our morning of departure this has to be a real highlight to our regular trips to France. Highly recommend this hotel especially now you can take advantage of there loyalty programme and earn cashback booking direct.

I think that the hotel is in a great location, however the surrounding area is very loud and not too great. The street side area is a bit creepy at night with a lot of men just hanging out outside the hotel door area. We actually got locked out of our room and they gave us a new key without any request to show any identification... which was a bit strange. The check in was fast, and it is a good deal for the price. You get what you pay for.

Ottimo hotel, confortevole e moderno . Curata anche la pulizia. Molto buona anche la colazione. La signora della reception parla un discreto italiano ed è molto gentile come il resto del personale. Lo consiglio anche se dista dal centro quasi 2 km, però si trova vicino al memoriale ed è dotato di un comodo parcheggio gratuito.
