My friend and I are traveling around France for a couple of weeks. We picked this hotel based on reviews and price. It was a good location to drive to Omaha Beach and the surrounding area. We each had a room with a king size bed, a very large bathroom with a wonderful shower and separate large tub. Free Coffee, tea and water provided in the room and a small refrigerator with snacks and drinks available at a modest price. Beds were very comfortable and room temp was great. Very quiet location and free parking. The best thing was Julia, the front desk staff person. Extraordinary service and assistance with everything we needed including ordering Thai food from a local restaurant because the restaurant was closed on Sunday night and Monday night, the two nights we were there. She deserves a GIANT Thank You and a Gold Star! I would definitely stay there again if I ever return to France.

This hotel was exactly what we wanted! It was welcoming, friendly, efficient and clean. The rooms were plenty large and clean, and newly decorated. The breakfast was great - plenty of variety and choice, all great quality. We had dinner in the hotel for 3 nights. It was freshly cooked, tasty and reasonably priced. Stefan served us and made us very welcome. All staff were friendly and very competent. Its location was perfect for us. Easy from the port. The tram is very close for getting into Caen so you don’t need to drive. Close to the roads to visit the D-day beaches and other historic sites. We had no complaints and would return

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome at this hotel. The hotel has car parking under the property and the person on the front desk ( apologies I can't remember her name) was very helpful in guiding us into the car park and even carried some of our luggage up to the reception area. The rooms are very comfortable and very quiet, the breakfast was fresh with many options to choose from. There was a very helpful gentleman at reception who , on several occasions, was kind enough to book a couple of restaurants for us. Even when he was very busy. The only small issue we had with our room was the temperature of the heating, it was a little too warm for us. When I asked about this at reception I was told the the air conditioning is turned off in September and I fan would be brought up to the room. The fan never arrived, however we were compensated for this when we checked out of the hotel. Try the restaurant Beouf and Cow, it's fantastic and only a short walk from the hotel Overall the Best Western Plus Hotel Moderne is a very comfortable, quiet and centrally located hotel. I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Caen.

If you ventured to Caen, there’s a nice hotel near the Gare (Train Station), that’s perfect for travelers. The hotel is clean, the staff is hospitable and friendly. The hotel is situated on the banks of the Ore River and is located in the Les Rives de l’Orne shopping center which has many shops and restaurants. Breakfast is included! Recommend to anyone visiting Caen/Normandy area!

My son booked 2 rooms 1 superior room and 1 double. Arrived could not get in. Finally someone opened the door, then we found envelopes with keys left on the side. Not a great start. Went up to the room and the room next to us had at least 12 people in shouting and screaming, however onwards in to the room. The smell as we entered was of urine, it stunk, the toilet was leaking, the balcony was disgusting and also stunk of urine. The arguing next door was getting worse, I opened the door and there was 2 men fighting, it was now feeling very unsafe we decided to just leave. It actually looked like a immigration centre , there were cars in the car park with various men in who were clearly selling stuff by the amount of people coming out of the immigration centre to go to them. Not a safe feeling for my family. The photos on the internet have clearly been photo shopped as they don’t give a true reflection of the actual rooms. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Booked another hotel in Caen the Ibis at an extra cost of £350.00 but what the hell, at least we was safe

The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. It's a manifest flight. The first night the hotel hosted a school group, forced to ask the calm by calling the reception at 22H children cried and ran into the corridors. At 5,50 euros a breakfast, you will find only frugality, no choice and low range products. The staff is very sympathetic but the experience is unacceptable. At the end of your stay you are offered a note to be settled with half of the already settled invoice ... The Hotel has three stars outside but I assume this relates to the sister Mercure hotel that is next door but part of the same building. The room we had was meant to be a twin but in all honesty it was more like a single room. Storage is very limited and the bathroom was very tired and dated looking. The Hotel bar shuts early and may not open at all so you may struggle for a nightcap if one takes your fancy. The good points of the hotel are the underground parking that they have (make sure you book it) and the breakfast was great, the lady who looks after the breakfasts is really helpful. Location wise the Hotel is a good central location and most places are a walk. Comparing it to the premier inn we stayed at in the UK en-route, the premier inn was miles better and 40 pounds cheaper per night.
