We have a very anxious experience in this hotel. We take a room in this hotel and when we returned from the restaurant in the night we found that someone had taken his shower in our room and was left in our bed. The room was not very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. We contacted the watchman at night, he re-allocated a room without giving us a plausible explanation.

Have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. The staff were polite and the rooms were serviced to a good standard every day. There are plenty of eating opportunities available in the immediate area to suit most tastes. We chose to cross the road and eat at the Flunch, which best suited our needs. Very handy location for our tour of the D Day beaches. Recommend.
Three-star hotel totally renovated, the Sure Hotel by Best Western Caen Memorial is located one minutes walk from the Memorial. The strong points of the hotel are free private parking, air-conditioning, a swimming pool, a fitness room, a restaurant, and free Wi-Fi.

The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable. It's a manifest flight.
The first night the hotel hosted a school group, forced to ask the calm by calling the reception at 22H children cried and ran into the corridors.
At 5,50 euros a breakfast, you will find only frugality, no choice and low range products.
The staff is very sympathetic but the experience is unacceptable. At the end of your stay you are offered a note to be settled with half of the already settled invoice ... Traveling a lot with my company is the most experience The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable.

Pros Good stopover hotel, we have stayed several times and rooms are now being refurbished to a good standard for this type of chain. Although on an industrial estate it’s quiet. Plenty of casual seating space although it does get busy when coach parties arrive. Good parking which is said to be secure although on our latest visit the gate was left open all day, on previous visits we needed a code to leave, not this time. Restaurant food is good, service ok. Cons Bar management is rude and impolite, and seems to be independent of the hotel and it was odd to be offered a “special price” for food items on the bar menu. Overall a good stay with minor areas of improvement needed.

I was the leader of a British school group who stayed at this hotel last week. Whilst we were there, we had the misfortune of being struck by a 24 hour sickness bug which affected 34 out of 48 of my students, so first and foremost, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience and distress we may have caused. However, our situation was rendered unmanageable by the simple fact that our group, despite a very clear request from our operator to keep us together, as you would logically expect for any school group, was dispatched all over the hotel, in amongst other guests. The booking was made 6 months ago, so no excuse for very poor planning, and for our concerns for the safety of our students. Our first cases started happening on the very first night. This was a particularly virulent bug which caused our students to vomit with no warning. Of course, when a student was affected, other students in their room had to come and find us. The only place we could use as a hub, given the situation, was the hotel lobby. This went on all night, and we stayed up all night, dealing in the best way we could with our sick students, stripping beds, moving students to other unaffected rooms when we could... The hotel manager/night porter (at least I assume he was the manger as he never bothered to introduce himself) witnessed the situation but didn't offer any help whatsoever, not even clean sheets. We had to ask for these and he very reluctantly gave us 3 !!! The next day we were met by the same man, who just proceeded to shout at us for not having any control over our students, going as far as insinuating that our students were sick in their beds on purpose... When I tried to make him see our point of view, his tone turned to sarcasm as he repeatedly said ”Yeah, yeah, you're right”... After much calm and patience I thought I had managed to get through to him, have an adult conversation, and I thought we had left in amenable terms when I got on the coach to go on a visit. We even smiled at each other and I really thought I'd got somewhere with him. Unfortunately, when we came back from that visit, the reception shutter was down and the man didn't realise that I could hear every word he was shouting down the phone again to his area manger. It was very clear that he was not able to try and see things differently at all... He also accused one of our student of being sick in the hotel lobby, but then changed his story when he asked to see the video footage... I could carry on at greater length... This hotel will not be a suitable place for any school group as long as it is run by someone as incompetent as this man, who displayed the understanding and interpersonal skills of Basil Faulty, but without the character and humour. Communication among the staff was also sketchy, which led to another argument with the manager... However, I could not fault the rest of the staff. Breakfast was disappointing for a French experience: no croissants or pains au chocolat. You threa

This review is based on the hotel being a 4* spa hotel. It's more like a 3*. Based on the price and rating, it falls short of what you pay for & what you get. The location is excellent - best in the area and there is no competition, so for that, it's worth it's 4*. It's well staffed and most staff are helpful & attentive. We had lunch on the terrace on a sunny day, and the service then wasn't the best. Different waiters came each time, so they didn't know who had ordered what. Usually in France we notice they always do and that's what sets French service apart from others. Not the case here - the wrong dishes were brought, there was some confusion and the sharing dishes we did order all arrived at different times. It was rather lacking and felt disjointed. We had to ask for drinks twice and that was also confusing. We had breakfast every day. Decent enough - but the layout of the breakfast, especially in the corner where the bread and jams were made it congested there. They have the guest reception/greeting desk in the same corner, rather than right at the door as you enter, so it was rather confusing for those on their first day, wondering where the staff member was. A simple rearrangement would solve this. We had the best room - the suite. Usually, I'd expect some extra items in a suite, like complementary drinks, fruit - I've even had reserved tables at breakfast, reflecting the premium price of a suite (especially in high season). There was nothing. Each day we had to ask for the water to be replenished and there was nothing else in the fridge. There was tea/coffee but no milk. We could have asked for milk from the bar. Remember this is a suite in a 4*... on the ferry over, in their premier cabins, we had better service. It left me wondering where the extra money (and it was a lot) went, other than a bigger room. The room was nice. The toilet was very small, though and getting in and out takes careful planning as the door opens inwards. Astonishingly - there were no USB ports in the room. The 3* budget hotel I use for work has these, as did the basic cabin on the ferry over, but none here. I do have an adapter but did't imagine I'd need it in a hotel of this level, so left it behind. This can easily be solved. Charging phones/cameras became a chore. The view was nice, but the windows are very small and narrow. I had to stoop to see the view, or sot down and stretch up. The spa was OK. The steam room wasn't working for a while and I couldn't find any staff for some time. Someone else reported it, but it never returned to proper service. It had been OK the previous day. They do let children in the spa, which is something I'd change. A spa is supposed to be a place to relax and putting up with other people's children is often not conductive to that. In summary, it's a pleasant hotel, with nice staff and I would stay again if in the area, however, for the price and rating, it does fall short. I wouldn't bother with the suite.

GGuest UserA hotel that helps a colleague make a mistake. This family was good in all aspects of the evaluation and chose this family. The hotel's been making good comments. Nice position, too! Good recommendation!
SShinfieldThis is a really great hotel in the centre of Caen with a very friendly owner who seemed to just to know what you wanted, not overbearing whilst being available and full of advice if you wanted it. The only downside was one of our rooms was very small, but it was very comfortable and we slept well, so that is all you need ultimately. Parking is just around the corner, not cheap at 22euros but it was safe and secure and meant there was no bother or need to move your card from the street first thing in the morning.
GGuest UserMy friend and I are traveling around France for a couple of weeks. We picked this hotel based on reviews and price. It was a good location to drive to Omaha Beach and the surrounding area. We each had a room with a king size bed, a very large bathroom with a wonderful shower and separate large tub. Free Coffee, tea and water provided in the room and a small refrigerator with snacks and drinks available at a modest price. Beds were very comfortable and room temp was great. Very quiet location and free parking. The best thing was Julia, the front desk staff person. Extraordinary service and assistance with everything we needed including ordering Thai food from a local restaurant because the restaurant was closed on Sunday night and Monday night, the two nights we were there. She deserves a GIANT Thank You and a Gold Star! I would definitely stay there again if I ever return to France.
TTurnny1962After reading so many good reviews I was very disappointed with this hotel especially the restaurant, apparently the restaurant is separate to the hotel, it’s only open in the evening and the gentleman that runs it is not very helpful at all, he doesn’t care about the hotel guests he’s more interested in the coach parties that arrive and take over the restaurant, leaving guests to fend for themselves no communication either from the hotel staff, shocking way to behave when running a business.
Average hotel, clean and tidy but some strange decor in public areas and especially corridors. Room was good with very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities were ONE coffee, ONE teabag and ONE sugar. Bizarre. I had B&B but as I was part of a coach the hotel were asked in advance on both nights if we could have some food, on the first night just something quick like steak & chips, as some of us (me) had travelled 22 hours. 1st night (Fri) 9pm. Supervisor SUGGESTED steak and chips and we all agreed. Waitress and supervisor took orders from approx 20 people and then served 14. The rest of us were told that the kitchen ”should have closed much earlier” so there was no food (See Fawlty towers ”Waldorf Salad”) I was offered some free salted peanuts, which I took.... 2nd night (Sun, we had spent Sat at Le Mans 24h race). Arrived at 7.30pm and were told we had time to freshen up, so back down at 8pm to be told ”sorry, no food tonight”. (See Fawlty Towers ”Gourmet Night”. All was ”off”. Found a steakhouse called La Boucherie close by which was great. They got a good tip. As a place to crash it was great, but don't expect anything more than continental breakfast, which by the way was also great. Confused?
GGuest UserThis hotel was brilliant in every way - and good value for money too. Don't be put off by the eccentric exterior, because once inside you're greeted by friendly front office staff and in no time are in your well-appointed moderately-sized room. Plenty of off-street parking as well.
The hotel has a well-stocked bar at reasonable prices and an excellent restaurant serving some of the best pizzas and hamburgers in Normandy.
Highly recommended.
My son booked 2 rooms 1 superior room and 1 double. Arrived could not get in. Finally someone opened the door, then we found envelopes with keys left on the side. Not a great start. Went up to the room and the room next to us had at least 12 people in shouting and screaming, however onwards in to the room. The smell as we entered was of urine, it stunk, the toilet was leaking, the balcony was disgusting and also stunk of urine. The arguing next door was getting worse, I opened the door and there was 2 men fighting, it was now feeling very unsafe we decided to just leave. It actually looked like a immigration centre , there were cars in the car park with various men in who were clearly selling stuff by the amount of people coming out of the immigration centre to go to them. Not a safe feeling for my family. The photos on the internet have clearly been photo shopped as they don’t give a true reflection of the actual rooms. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Booked another hotel in Caen the Ibis at an extra cost of £350.00 but what the hell, at least we was safe
GGuest UserHotel is not bad, French chain, quasi three stars, room is small, breakfast is ok. About 10 minutes from Kaoang Railway Station, we walk about 40 minutes. Because the city does not seem to be big, so walk to the World War II Memorial for about 40 minutes, when the city should be built in the subway, it looks a bit messy. There is a Chinese restaurant selling beef noodles nearby, which is quite authentic and the price is great.
