El Armador Casa Palacio by Luxury Suites Cádiz

Cadiz is a wonderful place, and we picked a great place to stay . The El Armador is wonderful central with cafes and supermarkets close by and only a 10 min walk to the wonderful market which is a must to visit we loved it . El Armador is very clean and tidy with lovely decor and spacious rooms. The receptionists were very charming and helpful. The street gets lively but thas no problem . Walk to the sea shore for the beautiful sunsets

Communication with the hotel was really easy, we checked in before we got there. There was a reception so we were given the keys by a lovely receptionist who was extremely helpful. The room was like a studio apartment. Full kitchen inc washing machine/dryer that had detergent to use. The bed was extremely comfy and it was nice to have a seating area. There was BBC world news as the only English TV but sometimes you just want some background noise when you come home in the evening. There was also a kettle, which as a none coffee drinker I appreciate. Right in the heart of the old town it had a lovely feel and everything there is to see in Cadiz was only a few mins walk away. The hotel has lots details of things to do and restaurants to visit , which was really helpful (one restaurant was La Candela and the best food we had in 2 weeks in Spain) Cadiz can be very busy with tourist from Seville in the mornings, so it was lovely to spend a few days in this hotel and just lie in and then go out for lunch and by 2pm virtually have the town to yourself and go to visit the cathedral later in the afternoon and have a drink in the square outside in the afternoon sun. I would definitely stay here again, I loved the style of the hotel, staff and relaxed atmosphere of Cadiz.

Let's say from the get go that the building has been beautifully kept. The outside decor is impeccable; unfortunately it is not sufficient to make a stay comfortable nor enjoyable! If you drive to the hotel; you should know that you are expected to park at the San Antonio public parking . It is not far from the hotel which is on a pedestrian street. However, you will need to drag your luggage on the uneven pavement. The hotel has no valet so if you have a physical disability you may want to reconsider. The San Antonio parking lot has no in and out privilege (and hope it is not full). Once you make it to the hotel, there is a lift for your luggage. The hotel has cleaning services every second day only. The studio is only adequately equipped (no spatula, scissor, dishwasher) The fridge is the size of a mini-bar fridge. If you need to work at a computer there is a desk but no decent chair to work from. You will need you Q-R reader to have access to the room password and other info. If you like to read in bed there is only a regular lamp (no reading light). So far, I expected a lot of these pains but when the studio became too hot we were told that we can not have A|C nor can we have access to the thermostat. By the way, the front desk is no longer available after 20:00. Our studio faced the busy Ancha street. Despite the wood shutters; it is very noisy, You have buskers at night under the window so you can't open the windows (if it is too hot) to sleep. During the day, the restaurant places tables under the windows for their clients. Furthermore, the walls are not well insulated. You can hear from the guest's rooms from every floor. The echo from the inside courtyard is such that you can hear what happens at the reception and the banging of doors late at night. I can live with a lot of irritant (even though I am not happy with it) but I need my sleep so no we will not come back here. The location is perfect but it brings way too many negatives with it!
